Title: Ladies and Gentlemen, may I have your attention please...
Post by: Just Randall on June 16, 2011, 10:08:05 PM
Be it known to one and all... that Captain Fletcher is dead. My contract with TRF was not renewed, and I have decided to put the character to rest.

That is all.

(the photo will remain for the time being, until everyone gets used to the new forum name.Which I may change again.)

I'm terribly sorry to hear this.  I know how much work you put into the good Captain, and I know he will be missed by ever so many...  :(

This does, however (of course), beg the question... does this mean you will be free to come and play with us in the campgrounds this season?!?  I do sincerely hope you will be attending at some point!

That sucks, blows, bites, and every other unpleasant and descriptive verb I can think of.

But like I said on FB, you're like a cat- you WILL land on your feet. (So shake it off with dignity, and walk away with your tail in the air. )

son of a... okay, I was maintaining a wait-and-see attitude towards TRF, but this definitely skews my opinion of these new "changes" deep into hostile territory. I'm wondering how many of the key, core people who have been staples of faire remain at this point?

And how the heck am I supposed to recognize you out of uniform?!?!?!?

I've learned to recognize him out of uniform, but I failed at recognizing him clean shaven.  :'(

Alas, the Captain is gone.

However, on the bright side, now I can buy you a drink in appreciation of all the joy you have brought me over the last (mumble mumble) years.
Find me & StudMuffin and we shall retire to the nearest pub and celebrate your re-birth.
Only problem is that I shall have to have Zaubon point you out as I will never find you without the uniform OR clean shaven.

Good Luck My Friend.

Capt. Fletcher was a class act because you are a class act, Randy.  I will miss the Captain's presence, but wish you the best and look foward to your next incarnation.

Capt., hope to catch you in Faire and buy you a mug or two of ale. You have gone above and beyond with helping Patrons.

Although I will have to reduce my TRF attendance since my company vacation time gets taken up with Sherwood Forest Faire, I hope to do a day tripper weekend or two to just maintain contact with my TRF friends.

Mug held high for you.

He's always busted his butt behind the scenes, too. Rarely have I ever seen the man sitting down, he's usually more of a blur. TRF did themselves a huge disservice, not bringing the good Captain back.

Very sorry to hear this, but YOU are what made the captain special, and YOU are still here, so we will be blessed to have you in our presence. TRF's loss, certainly, but hopefully many of our's gain!

And I am having the discussion, once again, of just how much this "new TRF" will subtract from my pocketbook. Seems with each passing year they make more changes that push me into wanting to seek entertainment elsewhere.

Captain.... what was the full name of the character and what years did you play the character please.  I feel it is fitting to recognize a character that brought such enjoyment to the TRF family.

Artemus Ulysses Fletcher, Captain of His Majesties Royal Guard(ret.). Started as a lieutenant in 2002. Promoted to captain in 2003. Knighted by King Henry VIII(Scarborough) in 2006. Retired in 2011, received lands and titles and was elevated to the rank of Earl of Loganshire.

(Hey, it's my character, and I'll make him what I damn well please. So Nyeh.)

Well, I did see that, but wasn't sure if it was "the end" of Capt. Fletcher's tale, or the beginning of a "new" character phase.

(sigh)  And here I was hoping he might be someone who could actually be seen in public with a Gypsy without raising too many eyebrows...  :o  :D

I'm thinkin' a roguish look would suit him rather nicely...  ;)

I could definitely see you in something a bit less... polished... than a Captain of the Guard's uniform.  Something you could have some fun accessorizing!  The sky's the limit, now, eh?  ;)  :D

LOL  You may be right...  ;)

You HAVE always looked a bit... overdressed... in all that starched and stodgy red, you know.  :P  FAR too buttoned up and formal for any sort of comfort... let alone the occasional urge to indulge in any impulsive and/or impromptu shenanigans!  ;)  :D

I was picturing something along the lines of a kilt and a bit of woad, perhaps.  You know, join the ranks of that "other side", for a change.  You could at least still be "regimental" in one aspect...  ;)  heheh

Or maybe even a pair of wrap pants and a Gypsy vest... show off a bit of what you've been hiding all these years under all that red velvet.  :o

Hey... I've seen the pictures!  You've been quite well turned out on several occasions, Mouse.  I will admit that your wedding attire was most becoming, however... and your lovely lady wife did a wonderful bit of work on it!  She is very handy with a needle and cloth!

I do freely admit, though, DonaC, that I prefer something of a rougher edged, slightly less... civilized... sort of man, myself. ;)   One who might be tempted to steal a kiss or two in the moonlight, perhaps.

Rogue, Highwayman, Gypsy, Pirate, Highland Rebel... all of these hold a certain appeal for me, and there's just no denying it!  :o  :D

I, on the other hand, have had interesting conversations with the Rice Crispie elves, looked for spiders from Mars, seen carpet turn to placid pools of water with raindrops hitting them, and seen music notes fly from speakers while listening to "Several Species of Small Furry Animals Gathered Together in a Cave and Grooving with a Pict", might actually enjoy the poisoning effect of woad....  ;)

Being no stranger to the effects of various and sundry types of... poison..., myself, I must admit that (in the interest of science, of course), this sort of exploration holds a certain... fascination... for me, as well.  ;)  :P  heheh

I once heard side one of "Dark Side of the Moon" played by the leaf springs under the bed of a pickup I was riding in while hitchhiking through the desert across I-10...  and discovered the interconnectedness of all things in existence by staring at a stucco wall for several hours.

No you're not!  Neither Zaubon nor Martin Montgomery indulge in any type of chemically induced inebriation, and they both have at the very least AS much fun as everyone else, at Faire and elsewhere!  I'm sure there are lots of others, as well... they just don't brag about it the way you do.  :P  LOL

Hey now!  I WAS a youngster at one time... i haven't messed with the funky fungus or little pieces of paper in many years...  >:(

*Some things experienced could only be forgotten with quantities of chemicals... it's BS but if you did enough, you became numb*

Some became numb... and some became enlightened... and a few found a little of both, I think.  It might have had a lot to do with perspective... and possibly the experiences, themselves.

(or maybe it was just all in the chemical mix, who knows...)  ::)  :D

And I certainly didn't enjoy ALL of my little... excursions... but I definitely learned something useful from each of them!  :o

Some of us weren't always sober.....

Z... as we all know, it's what you do with your life NOW that counts, because the past is gone... and you are seriously one of the most wonderful people I have ever known.  Besides, you seem to have just as much fun as anyone else, if not more... watching everyone else do all the drinking for you!  :D

thread- jacked

My work is done here :D

Hunh-uh... we had it on this track LONG before you even mentioned being sober!  In fact... I think it was KeeperoftheBar who first introduced the subject of booze... interestingly enough.  LOL

I'm happen to be a sane sober sensible Scotsman, except I'm a lair and Welsh.

I'm sorry, did you say you're "a liar and a Welsh" or "honestly a lush" ?

I always get those two mixed up. ;)  Bwuahaha!

A there is a difference?

I have the feeling that without the good Captain dogging his footsteps and restricting his actions, Randall is going to be, and have, a great deal more fun at Faire than he has been allowed in the past!  And who knows, we may just see a side of him that no one was even aware existed, until now...  :o  :D

And Randall, we promise not to knock you down and step in the middle of your back like some have done in the past.
(Unless you get between us and the beer)
