Title: Colorado fall faire gathering ...
Post by: Blushing on August 05, 2011, 07:06:55 PM
At the risk of hijacking the photo thread ...

So it won't be a faire, unless everyone decides to invade another state. But there are lots of opportunities to don our garb and have some fun.

What about a meet-up for a corn maze?  There are quite a few in Colorado.

Just a thought ...

New thread... good Idea. That would be a fun thing to do, going to a corn maze.

If it involves garb and isn't too terribly late, the Baroness and I will most likely be there.  (Weather permitting.  This IS Colorado, don't you know!)

And then there's the Colorado Railroad Museum's Halloween event!

Scroll all the way to the bottom... There's not much info, other than the dates! It was fun last year!

I'm in

For which- the Railroad Museum, Edgewater, or both? If it's Edgewater, I'm with the Renaissance Scots Living History Association. I'm the clan leather worker, and my tent (home) is open to all my friends here. It it's the Railroad Museum... Well, I'm just another patron!!  ;D I'll most likely be the only kilted guy there- can't miss me!  ;)

I have a friend of a friend who worked at the railroad museum. They may/may not be able to arrange discounts on the tickets for the halloween weekend thing. I will call them up and see if that can be done.

The Real Pirates exhibit ends on August 21st. Wouldn't it be fantastic if the pirates invaded the museum on their final weekend?

I'd hit the Real Pirates exhibit, but I've actually been to it 3 times now - once in garb - and I think I'm done for a while.

My pirate group attempted (somewhat unsuccessfully) to raid a corn maze in garb last October.  For what it was we ended up having a good time!  Though admittedly it's always more fun with more people.  If folks decide to hit a corn maze this season, I'm totally in!  I highly recommend Anderson Farms:

I'd be up for that! Running around a corm maze in a kilt is always a good idea...  :o

It may be a bit out of the way for some, but the Fritzler corn maze in La Salle (outside Greeley) is excellent. They have a corn maze as well as a haunted corn maze, which was excellent fun.

I'll be at the Edgewater festival too, with my band, so I say everyone should go to that one!

Hugs,
Nelle

I wish I could go to Edgewater, but I'll be performing at the Santa Fe Renaissance Fair.  It's a neat little fundrasier, and I think there will be a fair-sized contingent of Colorado folks venturing down there ...

Mind you, BrethrenCon is going both Saturday and Sunday, so you could in theory do one on the one day, and the other the next.

Yep, We're performing for the Bucaneer Bash on Saturday night, and then Sunday at noon we're at the Edgewater festival. It'll be a full weekend for us.

And the band is Pandora Celtica, dark faerie Celtic band of awesomeness (that's our new title that I just made up . . . pandoraceltica.com if you're interested) The band has been at CRF in years past, and hopefully will again in the future. Because I want to be back at faire. But I digress . . . ;)

Well looking at funds i was thinking i wouldn't be making santa fe but as i sit down and start chrunching numbers looks like i will be making it, just have to decide where i want to stay and how to save money why i am down there.

Please disregard my previous message for those of you who saw it, I was unaware that the aforementioned discount was not for the general public.

As it happens I'll likely not be coming to Santa Fe this year anyway, but, for those who are, The Inn at Santa Fe, La Quinta, and Holiday Inn Express are excellent places to stay.

For the record.....Santa Fe Renaissance Faire, in conjunction with Open Hands, at El Rancho De Las Golondrinas,  is a Non-Profit, Summer Faire, Not a Fall/Autumn faire...

I know Captain Spleen will likely be annoyed that we're getting off track of "fall" faires again, but in any case, Baron: I'm not sure yet. The place where I am working now throws a big shindig for Talk Like a Pirate Day and as my boss knows that I have extensive pirate garb I have a feeling he'll want me to be there. And, since that's the Friday before Santa Fe, I have my doubts that I will be able to make it down. But we'll see.

Now to return to the topic at hand...

But talk like a pirate day is monday the 19th

Whoops - I thought it was on the Friday rather than always being on the 19th - but, either way, we are still throwing our party on the Friday night since it's easier to get parents to bring kiddos on a non-school night.
