Title: Halloween Activities?
Post by: azchris on August 21, 2011, 09:06:09 PM
Hey all,

Me and the wife are trying to decide if we want to camp or use the shuttle service for this year's (2011) TRF.   Does anyone know of any thing going on post festival on Halloween weekend?  Just a little back ground we have never camped at a ren faire before we don't really have any idea what happens at all and the soonest we could arrive would be Friday midday.  Thanks in advance!!!

The campgrounds at TRF for AHE are an amazing and not to be missed occasion.
Come on out and camp and trust me... there is plenty to do. Just don't be shy and introduce yourself and the next thing you know there is a party.
Getting there as soon as possible for camping is pretty important that weekend, the camping area fills fast. If you are getting there midday you should be fine though.
I will go ahead and extend an offer if you want to camp with us at Phoenix Risen. We are close enough to the louder parties to have a blast but secluded enough to be able to sleep (aka pass out) when you're ready to.

*Just bring rum and you will fit in fine!*

Well let's see...besides the bonfire (maybe...if they lift the burn ban), the walkabouts, the drag show, the trick'o'treating for alcohol, and the massive social gathering that is camping there's a whole lot more...you just have to get up and walk around to find a lot of things to do after faire.  ;D :D

Isn't there also a bonfire at the campgrounds for Halloween?

There is a bonfire every weekend normally. With the burn ban though that might not be true this year.

*That's ok with me though. Takes away rum time to walk way down there*

So we are starting to lean towards camping, and thank you very much for the offer Teach!

We are debating about renting a rpod from my base or just using tents.  Would you all say that most people tent or RV camp?  We are just a bit apprehensive about the showers and stuff tent camping.

You mean, NO showers.  You might want to read the camping threads here on the TRF board so you'll know at least some of what to expect...

The majority are tent campers. This is a primitive campground. Technically its a field that has been mowed.

*Enough rum and you dont care though*

And no running water, electric or sewer hook-ups.

But it's still WAAAAY more fun than staying in some hotel and missing everything that goes on in the campgrounds after closing!!!  :D

You're best off waiting till early morning to drop the boys off at the pool... right after they powerwash them...

Fraser, I thought last year the port-a-privies were pretty decent both weekends I was there!  They seemed to be kept far better than the year before!!!

I know... I was camped about 30 feet from them!  About the same as you, I think, just in the other direction.  Fun way to wake up in the morning, huh?  ::)  lol  But they did the same the year before, only last year I think they might have had a few more than the year before, because they just didn't seem to fill up as fast, or get quite as rank.

Powerwashed?  You mean like Taylor and Nova in the Planet of the Apes?

Yeah we knew no showers, kind of what I meant.  Thanks for all the input.  We are still a bit undecided but with a lean towards camping.  I'll let you all know for sure, either way it will be a great weekend!
