My friend, who is a doctor (although she's never played one on TV), swears by a saline nasal spray. I spritz up each nostril morning and night to ward off the crud. Sounds like a PITA but better than the crud.
Anyone have a tissue? :-\
Started coming down with it Saturday, should be better to start over Saturday. Rennies probably share mugs all too often.

I use my neti pot when I get home from fest each night. It helps a lot! Same kind of scenario. Gross to talk and think about, but has saved me from impending Fest Crud settling in. Now if we could do without the wicked dust out there and ward off the black lung effect. Wonder why the dumb weed puller doesn't have someone sprinkle down the site each morning. Maybe we should all call in as patrons and whine.
We even got a hose out and watered the area in front of our booth and the neighbors, didn't last more than a couple hours. At least it wasn't as gusty Sunday.
I use the pressurized saline sprays as well. Thought I had got the crud, but today I'm feeling a bit better. Every weekend I feel a little bit more run down, so it's going to hit me eventually.

Don't bother with Airborne -they had to pay millions to settle a class action law suit showing they wrongly claimed it prevented colds, and the vitamin C has been debunked as well
Im a big fan of Vitamin D and EmergenC..but you are suppose to start taking the D at the beginning of the crud season and the EmergenC when the symptoms first appear
I don't understand all the fuss about Fest Crud. Yeah, it certainly is a pain at times, but are you guys saying it's actually made you sick? That's never happened to me. I mean, there's dust just about everywhere you go. True, some areas of Fest have more than the average amount of dust, but it's nothing different than living in the country. Is the Fest Crud really that bad? Just honestly wondering.
Fest Crud is a nasty combination of dust from the site, dust from the quarry, pollens from the fields surrounding site, molds from the swampland next to the site, and all the germs that the crowd brings in. It's not fun and lasts longer than a normal cold.
Thankfully, no crud for me yet. *knock on wood* I hope those of you who have caught it feel better soon!
I really hope you all feel better. I say go for the chicken soup as that always makes me feel better.
Luckily enough for me in 5 years I never once caught the fest crud... but then again I *knock on wood* almost never become ill.

I've got chronic sinusitus and I can also vouch for a nasal saline spray as well as netti pots.
I find Amber in the morning followed by a Gunniess followed by beer and loki durning the day, and what ever anyone else is offering during the day. Then after faire going to rum seems to keep it away..... ;D

I find that having a well balanced and nutritional something in the morning makes all the difference in my emotional as well as physical well being during the day. I like to call it, Breakfast Beer... at Sots. ;D

Thanks everyone! I hope all of you that have been infected with the crud get over it soon, and those who don't yet have it can avoid it for the rest of the run!! I feel about half past dead, but will be trying the beer cure, followed by the loki cure, and maybe the amber cure tonight, and then I shall sleep... *possibly snore since now I've turned into a mouth breather* LOL! :P Take that Will! ;)

Apparently Gin and I are drinking enough adult beverages to keep the alcohol content in us high enough to kill off the crud before it can take hold!.....
Me too. Just enough to have a little buzz before I have to stop drinking to drive home.
I'm not suggesting that anyone isn't generally clean enough, but it can be difficult at Faire to wash your hands enough, the biggest spreader of general ick...Having worked in a grocery store, I know this to be true. Don't forget to wash your hands a lot! You can carry extra hand sanitizer and it's easy to use, just be mindful to use it a lot. Not period correct, but no one wants the plague in any era!
I am soooo glad we have our handwashing station at our booth. I wash my hand a lot anyways, but out there I do it much more.

Yeah working with leather, some color does end up on your hands, especially with the laces.
Totally agree with the handwashing!! We have a station at the soda booth connected to us, and I try to use it whenever I can, but with the amount of germy money, and other things that go through my hands everyday its no wonder we end up sick... :P
The crud is getting better and I am crossing my fingers that by this weekend I will be back to normal happy Muffin!
Jac from the campground said part of it's the dry weather, but also dust blown around from the pit when it's windy making it even worse.
yea i got some crap in my throat and nose that ive still been coughing on and off today ....
when i got home yesterday and washed my hands.... so much sand/dirt. and my feet, despite having normal shoes and socks on were smothered in dirt. and i was just there half a day sunday!
I'm pretty sure my lungs are at least half full of dust.

You started the handwashing station. I just brought my camp shower out to leave out there because I knew you actually use yours when you camp.
And Sitara, I hear ya. Nothing like the Black Lung we are all going to get this year. :P
