Title: Ball buttons...
Post by: Kate XXXXXX on September 20, 2011, 09:21:18 AM
I need to sit on my hands to stop myself buying these to use as ball buttons on some extravagant gown...

They are quite big (18mm and 23mm), but wouldnt they be fun!  They come in clear on gold, clear on silver, and rose on silver...

I've had silver ones on a lovely velvet shirt that I adore before.  The problem with the ones I had was the shank wasn't one set into the ball itself and the buttons would fall off all the time.  If you look at the photo of the ones in the link, the shank has a small "gap" between the ball and the opening of the shank (rather than being one piece).  No matter how many times you use the jewelry pincher, those suckers find a way to fall of all those stitches you put through the shank to hold them to the garment.  Drove me nuts.  I finally just got new buttons.

Anything with that sort of problem gets soldered by Himself.   ;D

That is also a solution if the metal is of a good quality.  And you have a husband that can do such things.  ;)

You had best keep sitting on your hands, Kate!  :D :D

FOr I can see you could easily go into BUTTON OVERLOAD with these. They are lovely!
