Title: Lots o' new faces!
Post by: eloquentXI on September 22, 2011, 08:44:53 AM
There are a lot of new faces around the TRF forums. Yay for more Texas rennies!

Introduce yourself so we have an idea and can abscond you appropriately.  ;)

I know there is a kinda of nervous, shyness that comes with meeting people from such an active forum like we have. Trust me, that nervousness will disappear the first time you laugh at Mouse or Fraser gro- I mean, the first time you meet everyone!  ;D

If you see anyone that you think is from the forums, say hi! Even if they end up being the wrong person, you'll meet a lot of other great Rennies.

If you are camping, familiarize yourself with the map that was posted in the other thread. It will give you an idea of where everybody is at. Walk abouts are a great part of socializing and sharing of the spirits.

There is a Meet n' Greet pre/post parade at the Prince of Wales every day of faire. Some days, there are a lot of people at the Meet n' Greet. Somedays, it's pretty sparse. Just depends.

Unfortunately, I won't be out Opening Weekend to meet everybody as I'll be flying out to Virginia that weekend. I look forward to seeing whoever I can when I am there!

I'm new, but I did write an intro when I joined.

I want to meet everyone, but I expect to be too booth bound to go to any meet and greets.

If you pass by a tent with a little goat outside, please stop by and say hi.

I am new too...I am not shy though. i had introduced myself in the greetings forums and have made some friends here. I would love to meet new friends at TRF. This will be my first year at TRF and i am really excited to camp. I am friends with most of the crew from the HMS Motleigh and should be camping close to them. I will definatly look for the goats too

Hi, I'm MacLager Jonnson with the kilt_troupe.  I rarely contribute, but really enjoy reading this board--it is a great resource for information.  Our group only makes it out to TRF once a year, but we typically make a good weekend of it.  This year we will be camping (Fri-Mon) during Barbarian Invasion weekend.  I'm hopeful we can get out and visit more campsites this year.

Was a newbie last year to the forums but not a newbie to Ren Fest.  Have not posted much in the off season due to work constraints.  Did meet up with some here at POW last year.  And some of them are actually personally known to me.

so hullo everybody! *waves*  i'm sloth and i've be a-lurkin' around the forums for awhile.  i figured this was the perfect chance to finally introduce myself.  i'm new to the forums, but this is my 10th (i think) year to go out to TRF.  this is also my first year to not go as a pirate (i'm actually going as a faery catcher) and also my first year to make Loki.  So many firsts!

For the new people, Hi, I'm Breandán, I am a pacifistic, innocent, naive, physically weak (so if you want me to hug you in greeting, you have to request that I do so as hard as I can beforehand so you can even feel it) waif of a man. I am completely trustworthy, so feel free to leave your ladies in my company, I am harmless :D

Well, now... quite a few new faces, and more that haven't found their way to this thread so far!  I'm sure that will change soon, though!  I'm Rani, and I am usually only at TRF for AHE (that's All Hallow's Eve, for you new kids) weekend, and I try to make the meet-n-greets every day... unless my daughter, Scally Wag, is dancing in the chainmail show, anyway!  This year is a bit up in the air still, so we'll see!  Hope to meet all of you, and see old(er) friends, as well!  ;)  :D

Welcome!!!

Well, I am new the forum, and I'm still getting over my "nervous and not sure if I should post" feelings. So much stuff goes on here sometimes, especially in the TRF forums, that I don't know "where" to jump in at! And I do need to learn more about the history of the clothes/times before I contribute, well thats what I feel like at least.

I had no idea there was a Meet/Greet event! That's really gonna help me break my inner ice being in garb for the first time around so many people I don't know. The husband and I will be there for 1001 Dreams, so look for us at that Meet/Greet.

But I am getting nervous/excited for all of this experience! So very very much! -nerdsqueal- SWFF- Celtic is only two days away and it will be our first garb outing!

Mr Hyde here.  Lover of Steampunk and all other things creative.  I have been going to various faires across the State of Texas but never really ventured into meeting people at them.  My wife and I have 5 kids between us from 14 - 8.  No she wasn't pregnant every year.  I have 3 from a previous marriage and she has 2 from a previous marriage.  We will be at TRF every weekend either Saturday or Sunday if the kids are with us and both Saturday and Sunday if they are not.  Would like to meet some of you at the POW but still a bit shy (you know Mr. Hyde is known for lurking in shadows).  I will leave that as my intro for now.

Ravic here, an old face. Because I work at faire I rarely get a chance to mosey over to the meet & greet. I can, however, see it from my booth directly across the way. Drop on by & say hi.

I'm Maeven and my husband is Deadknight, but he's only posted like, 4 times on here, but don't worry, he's swell too :) We have a little cub on the way, so you might see a bit of a tummy on me when we're at faire! lol... We're usually at TRF for a few weekends (we will be at the Big 3 this year-camping for AHE). I'm not sure if I am still in the newbie catergory, but all the same, we love making new friends! Come by and say hello if you see us at faire!

There are a lot of new faces and I hope to meet y'all at the POW or wherever in faire/camp.  The meet-n-greet, that's the semi-formal gathering, don't be shy if you see someone from here in the lanes! :)

We will be out all weekends but 1001 and Roman.

I guess I would be considered a seasonal lurker, as I rarely visit the TRF forums during the off-seasons.  I've met a couple of you, but as I only get a chance to go to TRF once or twice a year (the disadvantage being a weekend-working musician), I usually end up missing the big weekends when EVERYBODY shows up.  Driving down from DFW is a medium hike, but well worth it.  As I grew up in southeast Texas, TRF is, and will always be, my home festival.

As it stands, if I can make it opening weekend, I'll be coming all by my lonesome.  May have to get with McLotofus to save me a spot on the tent line.  I still have a small group planning to make the trip in mid-November.

Again, and I say this every year, I look forward meeting the lot of you!   And this Loki you speak of...

Howdy new faces - Lord Charles of the clan Procrastination.  My friends here just call me KP and that works just fine.  My group is an eclectic rabble of misfits that camp at the end of row 0 behind Chaos.  My lovely wife Lady Kitara and our little pirate princess usually make all of the meet-n-greets.  Our camp can be found by keepin an eye out for our ferociously wicked clan standard (See Forum icon to the left).  Look forward to meeting all the new faces either at the M-n-G or feel free to stop by our camp, come aboard the Honorable Sailing Ship Procrastinator and sit a spell around the non-existent fire and chat in the glow of the extinguished tikis (o:

Though I am far from new thought I would post a lil something here, since I spend most of my time on here lurking. I do tend to be shy and sometime wont even approach people I know pretty well. If you see me out at faire please come up and say hi as i will always talk if you come up but tend to be a wall flower otherwise. I will be out opening weekend for sure and a few others as well. Cant wait to see some old friends and make some new one.

Greetings, I am Keeper of the Bar (Keeper for short), rider of StudMuffin and SnuggleBunny.  This will be my 21st year at TRF (I can drink now) so I am not new by far.  I am terrible at faces and names so if you see StudMuffin and me riding by, please give out a shout.  Heck, after several years of seeing them, last year I finally got to talk to Laird Frasier and Nasty when they stopped me on my way to the Sea Devil.  (Looking forward to seeing you again guys.)
If you are really nice, I might let you take StudMuffin for a ride.  All of the ladies love him, especially those under 5.
SnuggleBunny is still a bit skittish.

Well I have almost 3 days worth of lurking time in my profile.  This forum is the pulse of TRF and I check it by pc or phone almost every hour of the day.  My dad and younger brothers attended fair often, until my brother Creed got popped in the nose out by the fire circle.  Last year I asked dad to take me, and we hit up Pirate weekend, We got a thing for pirates.  It was a blast and this year we are back, with my wife (who refuses to be called wench, for now) beside me.  The wife and I will duck into the tent before things get crazy but I look forward to meeting the lot of you.(not a mclotpun)

Glaodian here.  I have been going to TRF for many years (at least 10 in garb), and have enjoyed every minute of faire.  This year I will be camping with PR during Highland Fling.  If you want to find me, I will be the one running from Lady M because I was successful at stealing her egg mallet.

I might even follow Teach around the campgrounds to see what kind of trouble I may get into.   ;D

I know there is a kinda of nervous, shyness that comes with meeting people from such an active forum like we have. Trust me, that nervousness will disappear the first time you laugh at Mouse or Fraser gro- I mean, the first time you meet everyone!  ;D

I'm new! I've totally never been on these forums before! Will you abscond with me? Please?!? It sounds like fun!

I would abscond with you in a heartbeat!!!  And ALLLL your Jell-o shots, as well!!!  (pssst... I've been hearing whispers of something called pudding shots lately... know anything about this?)

Aye, we had some last year. The Creme Brulee were pudding shots, as was the banana split, the butter nipple, and the pumpkin spice.

We don't currently have plans to go to TRF for Highland Fling but the world may sort itself out so we can make it. It would be great to see you two again! Are you camping or hotelling it?

Texas is representing!  ;D I hail from Williamson County.  Lil ole town of about 900.  I just tell people I'm from Austin.  It's easier that way.

I posted in the greetings first as well... here

Not new here by any means. Been attending TRF since 2006, worked every year of that but last year. I camp with Phoenix Risen, and am almost always at the meet and greets when Im out. Plan on AHE & Closing this year, if things shift a bit maybe another weekend or two. Im pretty friendly and don't bite (hard) unless asked, and am TOTALLY sweet & completely innocent, so if you see me please say hello! Our little family is pictured here, only I have ALOT less hair this time around!

It would indeed be great to see you again. We're hoteling it. We thought about camping on the way, then camping there, and on the way back, but that's an awful lot of work and a tremendous load for our little Ford Focus.

By the way, thanks for the great photo of us!

Thanks! Scarby treated us well, and I have every reason to believe that TRF will too. But alas, we seem to have picked the wrong dates to visit, since so many of the people we know won't be around that weekend.

But it's a great excuse to come back some other time, isn't it?

A lot of folks get there a bit before the parade starts, as well, just so they can get started meetin'-n-greetin' a little early (and get a bit of something from the pub, as well), and we all watch the parade go by, then turn around and start saying hello to everyone all over again!!!  ;D

According to TABC rules, no. If the gatekeepers catch you, they will either confiscate or make you pour it out. That's IF they catch you.  :) Be creatively discreet.

Hello!

I am Leigh... I play a German girl out at TRF. My characters name is Gisela Grimm and she is the Germans appointed supernatural advisor... she is THE vampire slayer. Those that know me recognize this is not the same character I have played in the past 2 years. I have finally left the world of schnauzers behind and am trying my hand at something different. Come say hi to me in Germany on your way to see the AWESOME new Tower stage! Also stop by the Arborhaus and get a drink and some delicious German food! :)

Hello,
I'm the weird one in the bunch and have been portraying this character at TRF for about 7 years now (different garb changes not withstanding).  Its a fantastic place to play and interact and an audience and cast with no hangups about what i do.  Its home to me on so many levels and I'll keep going back for as long as they'll have me.  :)

Well Merlin, just wait until you see the latest persona!!!

I was very lucky to get the last photo that I could of Embyrre but am very sad that I didn't get a chance to get a few of the Baroness (that's correct, is it not?). It was wonderful to see you this weekend and hope to run into you at Sherwood before other obligations take you elsewhere...  ;)
