This is technically for my Halloween costume, but it's a cloak, so I think it's probably ok here rather than the mundane thread?
I need to make a cloak that has a point in the front of the hood. Like this:

I can't find a pattern that has anything like this. Does anyone know how to do this? The cloak hood I have has a curved edge in the front when the pattern is flat, so I'm not entirely sure how to get the point. I imagine I could just extend the center front, but I'm not sure how to blend it into the hood so it doesn't look weird.
what you want to do a search for is to see if anyone posted their patterns for the assasin's creed hood.
Thats going to be your best bet.
From what I have seen at cons what most people do is make a regular close fitting hood and then add the detail of the tip on top of it.

Different people have used different techniques but thats the route I would take to search for it.
All one needs to do is draw the point at the front end of the pattern when laying it on the fabric with a Tailor's chalk or pencil to get the desired look..
Use newspaper, cut it while folded in half that way each side is the same. And you will always have the pattern piece for future cloaks. Pin it to the hood pattern piece.
I'll have to try searching for the Assassin's Creed hood again and see if I can find something. The problem I was running into when I tried that before, is that aside from the slightly different shape, the hood is several different pieces with the point being almost like a brim rather than flowing smoothly with the rest of it.
My problem with just drawing it on, is that the pattern piece for the hood I have is shaped like this:

I'm not sure if I need to do anything to the extension to get it to have the desired shape since the front of the pattern is curved. I'm sure I could figure it out with some trial and error, but I was hoping someone would be able to save me the trouble. :P

I made a modification to an existing cloak the morning of a comic con [of sorts]. It wasn't ideal, but worked in a pinch. Hopefully, it will give you an idea of how to shape your pattern piece.
The original cloak I used was Simplicity 9887, so the hood's pattern piece is rectangular.

I did some folding on the inside of the hood and made four rows of stitching to hold them in place. It's difficult to see here, but I folded the front under not quite two inches, then folded the sides down at the middle to make a point.

I would recommend flatlining or applying interfacing to the point, after you get the pattern piece adjusted. The extra weight in the front keeps the hood from shifting and falling back off the head.

Turns out my cloak pattern has vanished. Patterns were on sale, so I ended up buying Simplicity 9887 (the one I had was sold out). I think that one will be much simpler to add the point to, anyway. Going to make it this weekend, and will post pics when it's finished. (I was going to make it yesterday, but by the time I had time to work on it I was too brain fried. :()
Well, it's mostly finished. I need to tack part of the facing I added to the hood down, and sew the clasp on, but it's otherwise finished. Would have got that done, but by the time I got there, it was already an hour past bed-time and the baby was screaming. :-\
I ended up cutting part of the hood away to make the peak, instead of adding on to it. I was originally planning to add onto the hood, but in my attempt to conserve fabric, to make sure I had enough left for the other parts of the costume I still need to do (boots and cuffs) I quite forgot that until after I cut it out! Oops. ;D I think it worked out better, though. Here's a crappy cell phone pic of where it is currently:

Sorry it's so bad. I will have better pictures later this week, once it's finished all the way. The hood shape ended up exactly how I wanted, but the loose facing is pulling it slightly out-of-whack currently...
