Title: Merlin the Elder is recuperating at home
Post by: DonaCatalina on October 24, 2011, 01:09:05 PM
He underwent a bypass surgery but has gone home. Let's all send healing thoughts his way since I know we all want to see at Sherwood and Scarborough Faire.

Thanks to all...

I must apologize for not making any of this public earlier, but there was a lot that people were going through, most especially with the fires and stuff in Texas, and this saga began during some of the worst of it. You didn't need anything else to distract you from what you needed to be taking care of at home. I was just about to release some information... My good friend Doña Catalina read my mind...and Nim's Facebook page.  :)

I am indeed home, as of yesterday. I tried keeping up with R/F some during my hospital stays, and there were a couple of folks I felt obligated to keep informed. I am feeling relatively good, considering I had to do that John Hurt bit from Alien again.

As there is always a silver lining to every dark cloud, I did get to see one game of the World Series (we don't do television at home), and in which my home town team soundly whooped the Rangers. Hopefully, this doesn't strain my relationship with all my Texas friends. :P

My goal is to be at Sherwood for opening weekend again, and lots to come at Scarby! I return the hugs to all...gently.  ;D

I've got a nice TV. I just don't have any method of receiving broadcast signals... My entertainment is all by DVDs and NetFlix streaming. Other entertainment is not for discussion here. ::)

You're in my thoughts.

Rest and recuperate quickly (use a little magic Jack, if need be  ;) ).

Looking forward to meeting you at Scarborough or Sherwood.

Take Care,
David Baldock

Merlin, then perhaps we need to discuss the other entertainment. Perhaps that is why you are having heart issues. Let me break it down for you old friend. At your advanced age ( just shy of a century and all ) partying with 20 year old girls is a BIG deal. SO KNOCK IF OFF!!!!
Title: Re: Merlin the Elder is recuperating at home
Post by: Merlin the Elder on October 24, 2011, 05:32:07 PM
Partying with anyone besides my Nimue is what's dangerous to my health. It wouldn't be a heart attack that kills me, but it could easily be a jacketed hollow point. However, Chef, thanks for the advice.

David, I tried a little Jack last night, and it wasn't all that tasty. I'll try again tonight. When it's back to its normally delicious self, I'll know that I'm on the road to a full recovery. 8)

Hope your up casting spells again soon! Wait! Don't you have some kind of healing spell for yourself?  ;)

Again, to all of you, thank you so much for the energy you've passed along to me. I am actually feeling pretty good for longer and longer stretches, so that is good.

I've got my phin up as far as the doctor says I can raise it, Taffy...

I'm looking forward to seeing everyone again, starting at Sherwood in February. I would say that I should be back to normal by then, but nobody has been able to define what normal is in my case. Some of your sweet, kind comments tended to make my eyes leak. Other comments caused a little leakage elsewhere, but we don't have to talk about that here...

But, seriously.... thanks.... :-*

I'm going mad...MAD I tell you! I want to start driving again and go to work and do all the things normal wizards do... I should find out Monday when they will do the final angioplasty.

I have most of my appetite back, so I do plan on eating my fill today. Checking the scale, I find that I have dropped 12 pounds since this mess began at the end of August, so I can afford a little splurge.

Thanks for asking...with the exception of the problems with a nerve they hit attempting the first angioplasty, my recovery is fine, and I plan to return to work Tuesday, with or without the doctor's blessing.

Hold on there, desist, whoa, stop.

LISTEN TO YOUR DOCTOR

Your recovery is fine because I assume you are following his instructions.  Don't screw the whole thing up and wind up in Avalon with Arthur.   Just hang in there and all will be fine.

Perhaps I shouldn't have put it quite that way, BlakDuke. My 6 weeks of post-op off work will end officially on Thursday. I'm just pushing it forward a couple days because it really will help me to get back to some normalcy. I'll be seeing the cardiologist on Monday, and if he has a serious issue with me resuming normal activities, I will follow his advice.  I get "itchy" at times, but I'm not crazy... Nim and I are about to celebrate 45 years together. We're hoping for at least another 30.

I seriously want to thank everyone for their good wishes and concern. I've been completely blown away by it all, and it's been a great source of strength as I muddle through this little hiccup in my physical health. When I joined this board 1½ years ago, I never would have thought that I would find this many friends in one place. I've made many of what I hope to be long term friendships. The first time I saw the word "fairemily," I thought it to be odd. Now it makes perfect sense. I am forever grateful...

And seriously, follow your doctors instructions, including any medications he/she may instruct you, if you are unsure, ask!  I'm the scheduler for a cath lab and cv surgery and we see people all the time who refuse to do as they are told.  Please don't be one of them! ::) ;)
