He underwent a bypass surgery but has gone home. Let's all send healing thoughts his way since I know we all want to see at Sherwood and Scarborough Faire.
Oh MY! Sending lots of healing thoughts to him! Thankfully, he's through the worst part!
Sending from AZ
Get well soon! *hugs*
Sending lots of healing and good energy to Merlin the Elder. Get well soon!
Prayers are heading his way. Please get well soon!
wishing him comfort and a speedy recovery!
Chanting, rocking, and generally calling upon the forces of good powers for our Merlin.
Thanks to all...
I must apologize for not making any of this public earlier, but there was a lot that people were going through, most especially with the fires and stuff in Texas, and this saga began during some of the worst of it. You didn't need anything else to distract you from what you needed to be taking care of at home. I was just about to release some information... My good friend Doña Catalina read my mind...and Nim's Facebook page. :)
I am indeed home, as of yesterday. I tried keeping up with R/F some during my hospital stays, and there were a couple of folks I felt obligated to keep informed. I am feeling relatively good, considering I had to do that John Hurt bit from Alien again.
As there is always a silver lining to every dark cloud, I did get to see one game of the World Series (we don't do television at home), and in which my home town team soundly whooped the Rangers. Hopefully, this doesn't strain my relationship with all my Texas friends. :P
My goal is to be at Sherwood for opening weekend again, and lots to come at Scarby! I return the hugs to all...gently. ;D
Glad you are on the mend.
My wish is you have a blast at Sherwood !
Ferret
Take it easy Merlin and get plenty of rest! I am glad you are on the mend and hope to see you at Sherwood.
Wishes for a speedy recovery
Healing light and love sent your way! Glad to hear you are on the mend!
take is easy Merlin and allow time to work it's magic on healing. And buy a TV.
I've got a nice TV. I just don't have any method of receiving broadcast signals... My entertainment is all by DVDs and NetFlix streaming. Other entertainment is not for discussion here. ::)
You're in my thoughts.
Rest and recuperate quickly (use a little magic Jack, if need be ;) ).
Looking forward to meeting you at Scarborough or Sherwood.
Take Care,
David Baldock
Merlin, then perhaps we need to discuss the other entertainment. Perhaps that is why you are having heart issues. Let me break it down for you old friend. At your advanced age ( just shy of a century and all ) partying with 20 year old girls is a BIG deal. SO KNOCK IF OFF!!!!
Partying with anyone besides my Nimue is what's dangerous to my health. It wouldn't be a heart attack that kills me, but it could easily be a jacketed hollow point. However, Chef, thanks for the advice.
David, I tried a little Jack last night, and it wasn't all that tasty. I'll try again tonight. When it's back to its normally delicious self, I'll know that I'm on the road to a full recovery. 8)
Merlin - glad you're recovering nicely. I'm a quiet one here on the boards but I always enjoy reading your posts. You're a sparkle.

Speedy recovery, Brother. No opening of transworld portals till you are better.
Merlin the Elder, you had better behave yourself because we want to see you around for quite a while as Merlin the Eldest
Well wishes. Will see you at Scarby.
I wondered why your weren't as vocal as usual, Merlin. You are loved and appreciated by many and I wish you a speedy recovery.
Merlin, hope you're feeling much better. Keep your PHIN up!
Beaten to the punch, were you, dear? Just goes to show how well liked you are around here... ;)
You already know how happy Scally and I are that you're back home now... just stop scaring us like this!!! This is the last time, right!?!?!
(((HUGS))) and lots of good rest to both you and Nim, and lots of healing to you!!! And try to take it a bit easy before you go running around all over the place, please! ;)
Merlin, sorry you had to have surgery. Bypass is never fun. I am glad to hear that you're feeling better. I bet Nim is too.
Hope your up casting spells again soon! Wait! Don't you have some kind of healing spell for yourself? ;)
Get well! :D
Prayers and well-wishes for Merlin! Here's to a speedy recovery! *BIG HUGS*
Again, to all of you, thank you so much for the energy you've passed along to me. I am actually feeling pretty good for longer and longer stretches, so that is good.
I've got my phin up as far as the doctor says I can raise it, Taffy...
I'm looking forward to seeing everyone again, starting at Sherwood in February. I would say that I should be back to normal by then, but nobody has been able to define what normal is in my case. Some of your sweet, kind comments tended to make my eyes leak. Other comments caused a little leakage elsewhere, but we don't have to talk about that here...
But, seriously.... thanks.... :-*
Get sidetracked for days and come back to find out youve been ill. So glad to hear you are feeling better and hope you are never normal but always healthy. Look forward to seeing not only you but many others once again here on the forum.
I just found this and I was so scared something was seriously wrong!
I'm really glad you are home and doing well. I dont just want it, I require to see you at Scarby in the Spring, and hopefully Sherwood before that so chop chop! Get better! ;)
Big hugs to you both and keep us updated.

The health of a salmon to you: a long life, a full heart and a wet mouth!
To your good health old friend, may you live for a thousand years, and that I be there to count them.

Nothing serious, Elo...just rehearsing for a part in the next
Alien movie...
*Eyes Merlin the Elder over the top of her glasses, tapping her foot*
No holding out on us again, you got it, Mister? Wizard or no, I'll take you over my knee!
I'm glad you're well, and very much hope that you continue to be well. *HUG*
Toki and I send out thoughts your way on a speedy recovery. Sure hope Colorado did not do you in.
Huzzah! Glad to hear you're on the mend! Continue to get well!
Prayers for a speedy recovery.
I also just found this, and worried! Gentle hugs and many healing thoughts to you...
Yikes! How did I miss this thread?!
Merlin, rest and heal up - Scarby wouldn't be the same without you. :)
Hugs (gentle ones) and get well wishes, Merlin. Looking forward to seeing you and Nim at Sherwoodl
Thank you, dear ladies. With all of you lovelies in my corner, I can't help but improve! I will be around to gather those hugs, beginning at Sherwood...
Sounds like a plan! :)

LOLOL Figures you'd perk up at the prospect of lots and lots of hugs... ::) :D
Wishes for a continued speedy recovery, and long distance hugs!
Glad to know your feeling better Merlin, all the hugs wont go to seed I am sure.
saw this thread just today and wanted to throw in my best wishes to merlin for a full recovery and a hasty return to the festivals :)
so how you feeling bro? been a couple of weeks, thought id see how ye ole recovery is going. have you recouped enough to eat massive amounts of a dead animal tomorrow?
I'm going mad...MAD I tell you! I want to start driving again and go to work and do all the things normal wizards do... I should find out Monday when they will do the final angioplasty.
I have most of my appetite back, so I do plan on eating my fill today. Checking the scale, I find that I have dropped 12 pounds since this mess began at the end of August, so I can afford a little splurge.
Thanks for asking...with the exception of the problems with a nerve they hit attempting the first angioplasty, my recovery is fine, and I plan to return to work Tuesday, with or without the doctor's blessing.

Hold on there, desist, whoa, stop.
LISTEN TO YOUR DOCTOR
Your recovery is fine because I assume you are following his instructions. Don't screw the whole thing up and wind up in Avalon with Arthur. Just hang in there and all will be fine.
Perhaps I shouldn't have put it quite that way, BlakDuke. My 6 weeks of post-op off work will end officially on Thursday. I'm just pushing it forward a couple days because it really will help me to get back to some normalcy. I'll be seeing the cardiologist on Monday, and if he has a serious issue with me resuming normal activities, I will follow his advice. I get "itchy" at times, but I'm not crazy... Nim and I are about to celebrate 45 years together. We're hoping for at least another 30.
I seriously want to thank everyone for their good wishes and concern. I've been completely blown away by it all, and it's been a great source of strength as I muddle through this little hiccup in my physical health. When I joined this board 1½ years ago, I never would have thought that I would find this many friends in one place. I've made many of what I hope to be long term friendships. The first time I saw the word "fairemily," I thought it to be odd. Now it makes perfect sense. I am forever grateful...
AAWWW Shucks it weren't nuthing ;)
Awww....we wuv our Merlin! ;D
And seriously, follow your doctors instructions, including any medications he/she may instruct you, if you are unsure, ask! I'm the scheduler for a cath lab and cv surgery and we see people all the time who refuse to do as they are told. Please don't be one of them! ::) ;)
Don't worry, Trillium. The wife works in the OR area...she's the one who provides their drugs. I am being watched like a hawk!
Yes... she will flog him if he doesn't mind her! ;) Or worse!!!
So I shouldn't have to make that drive over there to do it myself... right?!?
Dad.... you must be well...soon. After 1,000 years...it's OK to get a tune up.... heal fast !
