Title: Celtic Christmas Excitement
Post by: Earl of Bunting on October 25, 2011, 01:33:40 PM
One month and counting until TRF encompasses my being. I shall be traveling with, "Thine Gobblers", and anticipate a great weekend.  Although our group only totals 8 that is an improvement from last years 3. We also anticipate a grater interaction with others. (last year was our first time and were still figuring everything out)  What my questions are to you, my Lords and Ladies would be, are there any good groups camping after thanksgiving that would be fun to hang around with and knock down a few and is there anything new this year at TRF with regards to camping and the faire? Thank you all and long live the King! Huzzah!

you might want to check out this thread: http://www.renaissancefestival.com/forums/index.php?topic=15110.0.

It'll tell you who's going to be there and where they are, as well as give you a handy dandy camp map.

And will the Lady Jessica be gracing us that weekend?

My party (likely of 3 others) and I will be there that weekend, arriving on campgrounds early, early thursday morning, in attempts to procure our same camping spot at 4-C.  That link that she gave you will bring you to the list that Lady Jessica (personally) updates almost daily as people post up more who/when/where's.

Have a look!

I'm looking at heading down on Thursday, after my clan dinner (lunchish), but am entirely too big a weenie to camp that weekend, as it's going to be too cold to start with, and by the time I invested in the rental of a camper, I may as well have stayed all nice and cozy at a motel where I have electricity that's not dependent on the generator, heat, and a hot shower at the end of the day, never mind that I would have to borrow a truck to pull the camper, and most of the cookstove, etc. So instead, I'll be staying with friends who live in Spring, do faire on Friday & Saturday, and then we'll head back north on Sunday morning, so my friend who has another 5 hours drive after we leave my house (about 3 hours from Spring) can get home at a reasonable time.

Our Clan will be there, Clan Procrastination is at row 0 behind Chaos.  Hopefully we'll have a full crew.  There is plenty of camping space up on our end.  Feel free to come by or even pitch your tents close by.  My land grabbers will be landing in port Wednesday night, and Thursday we'll be doing our traditional Turkey Day feast in camp.  Look forward to seeing ya around the grounds.

Alas, I shall not be camping for Celtic Christmas.  Family obligations and the fact I almost froze my *** off over AHE keep me from climbing into my tiny tent again.  However StudMuffin and I shall be daytripping on Friday to see everyone we can and get our Faire fix till next year.

Thank Goodness Donna you'll be there to Yank me together.  Lord know Lord Dragon tries, but you know how to make it all come together.  I hope to see you at the gate before Cannon.

Have a great Thansgiving

Will anybody be attending the kings feast??

We too almost froze our "..." off. Woke up with ye old hair stuck to thine tent. But all was well in the "Gobbler" camp. Bear skin rugs are a must this year!!

As Ravic said, it's the Prince of Wales Pub.

In this aerial photo (http://g.co/maps/vse6q), there are two picnic tables, just below the main path, near the center of the image.  They are in front of the POW.  The Main Gates are to the left, and up from there.

We do have a sort of unofficial meet and greet for R/F ers at the Prince of Wales Pub at noon to watch the parade. I try to be there most days- but I got bogged down last Saturday.
I hope to see you all on the final weekend! Huzzah!

Oh, and at last count we've been invited to 4 Thanksgiving feasts, and we'll try to bring something to each!!!  ;)

I am really starting to get excited now. This weekend we pull out the garb for inspection to see if any emergency repairs or cleaning needs to be done..
It will be a big change from last year and 18 degrees. Woo Hoo.

I know!  The weather is starting to look truly wonderful, even the part that is calling for possible dampness, because it's going to be very nice out!  Not hot, not cold... just moderate, and that's going to feel great!!!

This weekend will be chores - CAMP CHORES - YEAH, LET ME HEAR IT!!!   :P
Got to start the water proofing process.  Opening weekend was no fun when the tent became an indoor swimming pool, and no one brought a bathing suit.

Also need to do grocery shopping and then start staging out the gear.

Lots to do and only a couple of days to get it done in. (o:

Oh, I know... My Scally has decided that this is the year that she is going to sleep in her own tent... (facing our "main" tent, and only a couple feet away from the entrance, of course), so we have to set it up and make sure the twin air mattress will fit in it.  Also have to clean out the van, decide if I'll be driving it, or borrowing a family vehicle, drag out all the camping gear and garb/accessory bins, gather scattered items used for Halloween, do last minute laundry... and make a shopping list.

Geez... now I need a nap, just from thinking about it all!!!  :o  :D
