hello ill be camping at the fairgrounds this weekend, and i have heard some interesting stories about the camping situation, should i be worried or have to look out for anything. what can i do to insure a good time for me and me lady friend?
thanks
I was out there last weekend, and it looks like they actually cracked down on the noise situation. We had an excellent time, with not a single incident.
Despite all that has been said (including by myself), I have not a single complaint about this year's camping.
The key is common sense. If you set camp in the center of the campgrounds, you're gonna be in the middle of everything. I personally think that it is easy enough most of the time to tell the rennies from the ravers; just be on your toes and you'll be fine.
Remember, in all the threads where everyone is complaining about the campground, for every bad story you read there are 50 good ones.
If you see people around talk to them before setting up ask if its an area that a clan normally uses and if there is any issue with you setting up near them. Most clans have there normal area and will be able to tell you if you are setting up near an area were there might be generators running or to near the port-a-pots. Follow common sense rules like lockingup valuables in your car, talk to people around most will be happy to help out a new comer.
awesome thanks yall!

another newbie question. what are clans? how do i get in one?
There should be a sticky thread or a forum specifically for this question (o:
Clans are basically groups of friends who have banded together. They tend to become a family who do more than just faire together. Mine is Clan Procrastination, our clan standard is the flag you see as my icon. We camp on row 0 with the civilized pyrates (o:
Check the map in the Who When Where thread as it displays some of the clans and there approximate where-abouts in camp. I'm sure other clan members will post their info - you can find out more about Clan P. here --> http://pirates.kiltedcowboy.com
Feel free to come by and chat with us. We encourage all wandering souls to come by and pull up on seat on the H.S.S. Procrastinator.
Forgot about the getting in part - All clans are different and all have their own requirements for membership. Most require that you hang out for awhile to be sure that you and the group are a good fit. If not, ya part ways, no hurt feelings, typically with an open invite to come back by and share a drink and some camaraderie.
Very True KP. There needs to be an all clan information thread. Or something like that. Amazing how often people ask those kinda questions.
Getting in a clan is definitely all about hanging around and finding friends you want to spend time with.
KP has it right, generally they are formed and held together by bonds that far surpass friendships. Fairemily is how I like to phrase it.
I am a member of more than one clan and do things with them all at different times.
In camp though I am part of Phoenix Risen. and we can be found in the center of the row 0 horseshoe. Info on us can be found at http://forums.wearephoenixrisen.com. Like KP said, I would suggest camping near the clans and introducing yourself. Just a quick note though it is often considered rude to ask to join a clan. Most prefer to do the asking of prospective members.
There are also many people who never join a clan but camp with several just because they are friends with members. I did that for years before I joined my first clan.
*Also, rum is a wonderful way to make friends in many clans.*
thank yall so much for the info, ill definitely be stopping by to chat it up. i cant wait to meet everybody. as of right now i believe ill be camping near the McShuggenah clans.

Thats an excellent spot. That puts you with both McShuggenah and PR and a short walk from Chaos, CP, Claw and the Gnomes. All very good people.
Laird Nasty & I used to be members of a clan but we parted ways due to differences of opinion... now we are wandering vagabonds that Clan McShuggenah took in for their annual AHE weekend. We have friends in PR... Zaubon, Teach & company are good enough to let us crash on their borders on the other weekends. Come on by McShug and ask for Fraser... they'll point the way to Camp Nasty. ;)
Ya know, Fraser my dear, Im not so sure telling people that they should look for a camp named Nasty is a rousing endearment, LOL!
Just kidding, you know I love you! :-*
