I'm a beer ale stout kinda of guy. Don't get me wrong I love a margarita vodka or gin and tonic or rum provably Kettle One or Bombay Sapphire Gin or Pyrat rum. But I would like to here from my other brew heads what they are drinking and plan on bringing to fair. Right now it looks for me that a 750ml bottle of Duvel Golden Ale witch will be open right after i set up camp a 12 pack of Guinness Extra Stout some Smithwick of course and maybe some Stone Arrogant Bastard Ale along with some Miller Lite. Has anyone tried something different that they are bringing to fair? Give a shout out to what you are bringing and any suggestions that anyone would recommend to me would be appreciated. It's looking like our small group is coming up Thanksgiving Weekend. Hope to see you around.
I'm planning on bringing a very nice selection of the seasonal beers, all the pumpkin flavored and other spiced beers that are only available this time of year. Been looking forward to this ever since I got back!
I make mead, I'll have a few bottles of plum/rosehip mead to share for xmas weekend. We usually stray from beer and bring liquor, for pirate weekend we went through a half gallon of Kraken (such an excellent rum) and just about the same of Pama. Also had a few fifths of different flavored vodkas that we mixed in a gallon jug for the campgrounds. ;)
This weekend I have some Seirra Nevada pale ales tossed in, half a case of Independence Bootlegger brown (my new favorite brown - found only in Austin) and a bottle of Stone 15th Anniversary ale - an imperial black IPA. Plus that chaucers candy mead for the wife, and a bottle of Tyrconnell Irish whiskey.

Captain K that Bootlegger Brown sounds really intriguing but I live 5 hours away and there is no chance in the near future of me getting up to Austin anytime soon. Now the Stone Black IPA is right up my ally. Have you tried it yet and can you get it at Spcs? Also you can't go wrong with Seirra Nevada all there stuff is tasty. It looks like you are going to have perfect weather this weekend. Stay thirsty my friend.
Magic Hat's Hex is by far my favorite seasonal beer. Kona's Coffee Porter is a tasty treat. Flying Dog's Woody Creek White also does the trick.
I'm a hands down Guinness fan - but St Arnold's did an awesome pumpkin ale (Pumpkinator) this year. We will have two bottles in camp but rest assured they will be gone in a skip of the heart.
Otherwise, Shiner Black as the old fall back. Never Miller light in camp. You can get that at any ole ice house in Texas. I love traveling to different camps when I can sneak away and trying other "exotic" ales. I've found the Arrogant Bastard ales to be quite tasty but I never remember to pick up any myself.
When I can have beer, Guiness is my choice. But I have to tell you that Ugly Pug (http://www.rahrbrewing.com/our-beers/year-round-beers/ugly-pug.html) is running right up there.
And it probably doesn't hurt that one of our Scarby people works there, though I fell in love with the Pug before I knew that.
KP, I wouldn't keep Miller Lite in camp either. It's not even real beer. Yech!
I will hardly drink any American-brewed beer anymore, unless it's a craft beer. Even those, you pays your money and you takes your chances... The first brewpub we had in the central Arkansas area has a strong following, but ever since they started, they've had an infection in their beer (a distinct soapy taste), and after 15+ years, it's still there. Either that, or they just don't know how to make a good beer.
Come on Merlin the Elder, Miller lite is great for pouring on the campfire to put it out......putting in your cars radiator if it runs low on water......and such things
Bad Beer alert just tried 2 beers from Oskar Blues Brewery, Mama;s Yella Pils and Old Chub Scotch Ale. At $10 a six pack I was expecting it to surprise me but boy was I wrong. The Pils was ok nothing to wright home about but at $10 A six I was expecting better. But the Chub was not good at all and I like ales. This stuff was harsh going down and had a funky after taste too boot. I know Smithwick is an Irish ale but at least it goes down smoth with no after taste. If any one has tried any brews that are different or off the grid post it here. Would love to here all comments what people are drinking.
Nothing at all wrong with Irish ales...as long as they are good.
I wouldn't use Miller Lite to put out a campfire, Francisco. I like the smell of a good fire and that would totally ruin it!
I have heard that Miller Lite makes a good neutralizer for dog pee on your lawn.
That might keep the dogs from peeing on your lawn but might bring out the bad beer drinkers to pee on your lawn

Don't be hating on the Miller Lite. Yes it's not really a beer. Yes it has the taste of carbonated water. Yes it really doesn't have much taste at all. But after a 12 of the good stuff Guinness, Dead Guy, or Duvel this is the fall back beer of choice for me when the night starts getting late. My philosophy is you start with the good stuff first and work your way down as the night progressives because after 10 or 12 of the good stuff it all starts to taste the same especially when you throw some Loki in the mix. Hope to meet some of you at noon at the POW.

You do realize that if you go to a ball game, the only thing alcoholic in the park worth drinking is going to be the Miller products. And if you're at a ball game at all you will need an alcoholic beverage or 12 (o;
Miller Lite or MGD are my fall backs when in a strange town that has no idea what Guinness or micro brew are.
