If anyone sets up a dinner on Friday, let me know.  I will drive out and join you.  I am not real familiar with the establishments out that way anymore, so I can't make any suggestions on where.

Being the anal retentive soul that I am, I started hunting down places that would be open Friday night (even though I won't be there....) Unless you want to make the drive to Geneva on the Lake (30 miles)  or Mentor (I so want to make jokes) its not looking good.  Perhaps those of you coming in on Friday night might want to converge on Scotsman's hotel with coolers and picnic baskets?

*ducks and runs for cover*

There's got to be something.  Even tho' when I go to Faire I come up from the south and don't go into Geneva.  I know that over the past few years both the Geneva and Austinburg exits have been getting built up with more businesses. They are only 7 miles apart.  Mentor is about 25 miles west of there. In Mentor you can find anything, but I would suggest the Winking Lizard Tavern.

What type of place are we looking for?  Something like the Galway Hooker in Carolina? or something different?

Since Jessi is learning how to drive and will take any chance she gets to practice, we will take a trip up that way on Sunday afternoon and see what's there.

The whole area up there is loaded with wineries too.

Yes Quiet One, exactly like the Galway Hooker by CRF (and the same exit as mine castle...heehee).

Wee look forward to your update, God Speed...where do I come up...oh never mind.

Very funny ... Lady Guinness and I will be traveling light ... toothpaste, beer, garb, beer, cooler, beer, toothbrush, beer, underwear, beer, and lets see ... what are we missing ... did I mention the beer?

Mehan ... I seem to remember us crashing a wedding reception last year at a nice little place ... it is a bit fuzzy for some reason, but the place seemed to be fairly nice ... that was GLMF wasn't it? Hell we were only at 8 faires together last year! I remember that place because of the critique you and Lady Guinness had of the brides gown ... she looked good through my beer goggles!

I called that place (and about 14 others it seems) it will be closed on July 4th

Quiet one is right, though, there are places all around I just wasn't too successful at finding them on line to call.  The year we "snuck" up to faire and surprised Morgan and Dwyn we just drove around until we found a pretty cool little place with good beer and food that ended up being about 2 miles from the hotel - but I'll be darned if I can remember the name of it.... sorry!
Title: Re: This time.... in one week and three days
Post by: Scotsman on June 25, 2008, 12:49:21 PM
Okay ... this is what I got ...

My first choice will be closed on the 4th so it is a mute point: Chops Grill & Taphouse (Remember this one Mehan?)

Here are three others to choose from:

Applebee's
3241 North Ridge Road East
Ashtabula, OH 44004

Red Lobster
3013 N. RIDGE RD. EAST
ASHTABULA OH 44004
(440) 998-4944

Ferrante Winery & Restorante,
5585 State Route 307
Harpersfield Township, OH

All are open on the 4th - I called them
Either are good for me ... just let me know what is best for the crew.

Shush... I was going to keep that place a secret!!

I couldn't get an answer at Ferrante's last night - but that is the suggestion I got from the very nice lady I have been dealing with at HoJo's.   At least it would be different from something you could do at home...

Why do I seem to have such an opinion, when I won't be there?

I won't be there Friday night either Mehan, but I have an opinion too.  It is this:  I don't want to see a bunch of hung over, arse-dragging faire folk on Saturday morning!  I seem to recall a group in Pittsburgh last year in a similar state having been to ORF the day before.  Not mentioning any names of course.
LOL.

Have fun on Friday and be safe!

Well, we'll see how far everyone gets with the shopping, especially if opening weekend is like last year when nobody strayed far from the pub. Ah, the power of mead and ale!  ;D

Crap ... where the heck have I been? I go to Celtic Fling for the weekend and all hell breaks out!

DuCoeur, is that doublet made out of the stolen contraband that Lady Guinness and Mehan confiscated in NC?

mmmmmm.....all this talk of new garb....I just might have to do some shopping!!! Shhhhh....don't tell Scotsman!
DuCouer~ I can not wait to see your new doublet, when you explained it at VARF it sounds stunning. And with such a interesting history!  ;)
Ahhh....A Scotsman at a Pub is a very natural event...very suiting from a man of his ancestry don't you think? And I being an Irish lass find men that gather at a pub very cleaver.....for they know the ladies will gather soon to join them!

Shopping at great lakes is amazing...

Tights, and a doublet, and scents to tantalize the um senses...I spend almost (thats almost) as much shopping as I do at the pub...
Well ok not really...but I have done my share of Shopping.  I hope Chantilly is back...can't wait to see her and Dave...And I'm back...

Ok I can barely eat I am so excited...
