Title: Closing Weekend
Post by: Terre Albert on November 20, 2011, 10:55:51 PM
Thanks to everyone for making this year so memorable.  For the last weekend we are going to allow the Bon fire in the campground.  Still no personal fires but propane equipment is allowed.  We will have the knights of mayhem performing full contact jousting in the arena.  We are adding over 40 new lights to the grounds and staying open late.  If we get our permits we will add fireworks to the royal finally.  Hope everyone can join us and help break the half million mark in attendance.  The camp grounds open Wednesday at noon and the weather looks great.  Let's finish with a bang!  Thanks again for a great year!

Terre, I would like to say that I was maintaining a wait-and-see attitude, and I have to say you have done a wonderful job this year. I know the behind-the-scenes hurdles you have to overcome with George and the pursestrings, so it makes it that much more impressive. Huzzah!

Things seem to be much better this year.  Hopefully things will stay this way.  And hopefully TRF wont change so much that it resembles Disney World either.  :)

Staying open late?!  Woo Hoo!   ;D

Even with the fire ban, it has been a great year at camp and in faire.  We've really enjoyed ourselves.   :)

Just saw this on Grimes County website:  ;D

EFFECTIVE NOVEMBER 22, 2011 THE BURN BAN WAS LIFTED UNTIL NOVEMBER 30, 2011 WHEN THE COMMISSIONERS WILL EVALUATE THE STATUS AGAIN.

Terre-Will this change the status of only having fire at the drum circle to now include individual campsites?

I just saw that Terre posted on the TRF facebook page that there was more news to come today!!! Don't want to get my hopes up, but its gotta be individual campfires. Especially with what Bonny posted about the burn ban being lifted. Huzzah!!

HUZZAH!!!

Fires: *CLOSING WEEKEND* The burn ban for Grimes County was lifted on November 22nd, allowing TRF to hold a bonfire in the campgrounds for each night of closing weekend.  Open-flame fires are allowed, however they must be in an ENCLOSED CONTAINER. (i.e. bbq pit, trailer pit, burn barrel, etc.) TRF will NOT ALLOW open-flame fires started from the ground. Propane heating and cooking devices are allowed. Please do not store flammable objects in your camping area. Smoking is only allowed in designated areas.
