Here at the Tudor Rose Leather Workshop (www.tudorroseleather.com), we've received an inquiry to make an underbust corset out of leather. Its for a female rogue/pirate/baudy-wench character.
We make alot of custom items and for things that need to fit just so, we usually just go in search of a professional pattern. However, we've been surprised at how few patterns seem available from McCalls etc. Most seem to come above the bust.
Can anyone recommend a fairly simple pattern for this? Leather (like upholstery leather) has its own peculiarities, not the least is its thickness, that make complex patterns difficult to use. Thanks in advance.
I know simplicity has one, it is a gypsy pattern. I believe there is another older pattern also.

I have one size 6-12
Thanks.
I'm afraid I left out an important detail. They don't want a collar, the bits that go around the back of the neck/shoulders. Do either of these patterns allow for this?
sounds like a cincher to me the simplicity belly dance pattern has a very simple one that I have seen and they do look very nice. Its just a matter of making it into one peice, should be easy peasy.
I would suggest drafting your own pattern to the customer's measurements. Try adapting this for a basic pattern: http://katafalk.wordpress.com/2010/06/24/underbust-pattern-tutorial/
Or this one: http://ultharkitty.livejournal.com/641477.html
If you want a commercial pattern, try the Laughing Moon underbust: http://www.lafnmoon.com/113_underbust_corset.html
I love this pattern. I use steel boning, waist tape, and lengthened it above the waistline by an inch: http://www.trulyvictorian.net/tvxcart/product.php?productid=91&cat=6&page=1
Thank you so much.
