I am going to try my hand at making some Loki. I got a recipe but I need to know about the storage process. Since sugar is involved I'm assuming it will be fermenting so will I have to periodically release the gas produced? If so how often and will this effect the final product? Or will I even have to worry about it? Any help from you Loki makers would be much appreciated.
Drink from the Horn!!!!!
I normally just turn my bottles once or twice a week and of course you have to sample some every once in a while...you know to ensure that the flavors are making nice with eachother... ;)
There's no fermentation because there's no active yeast to convert the sugar to Co2. Thus, no reason to vent the jars/bottles. The sugar in Loki is simply a sweetner.
The Everclear in Loki is already a finished product so there is no further fermentation. The aging process is simply to let the ingredients settle & blend.
Keep it in a cool dark storage while aging.
Me or the Loki?
We know he won't drink the Loki. We'll give him a case of Jack to distract him.
I curse and swear at mine... then threaten it. ;D
Thank you all for the help. I made a batch last night and its tucked away in the closet. Hope it turns out well. Thanks again
