Title: Video Tutorial: Scaling up historical patterns
Post by: CenturiesSewing on January 30, 2012, 01:41:04 PM

Hey everyone, last year I asked what folks might like in terms of tutorials.  ;D  And this is the first one! (Hopefully I'll have time to do a series.) This deals with scaling up historical patterns using radial projection rather than the grid method.

I hope it makes sense and helps folks out!

Ever wanted to make Lacing Holes? Here is another lovely You Tube informational!  The lovely Dame Eleanor gives a really good example and help to make great lacing holes!

I've been wondering how to make bound eyelets.  I've read other tutorials, but it really helps to watch someone sewing them.  Thanks!

I found this example? But really? There is an easier way, to create cartridge pleats, but if you 'get' this way go for it!

I have asked my son to help me create a video about making easy cartridge pleats, because I could not wrap my brain around them either!!!

Thanks for the instructional video, CS.

I took a sewing class in my Senior year of high shcool..Tailoring and Pattern Drafting. My teacher had worked in the Film Industry during the 40's, 50's and 60's. Many of the tricks of the trade were similar to those shown in the video. I learned using the Graph method, then the  1" to  4" conversion. I still use those techniques for when I need to redraft an existing pattern to fit a particular body type or do something from scratch.

AS for Cartridge Pleating, I prefer the 1" Gingham method. Works every time. I think my Tutorial on that is somewhere here.
