Title: Pirate faires in Galveston
Post by: tiberiusflynn on March 14, 2012, 02:27:19 PM
Why has no one tried this yet? Sadly, I can't make it to Florida for every Pirate fest....but Galveston is just down the road.....I know there's a new pirate museum, and we have the Elissa. Hopefully something will show up soon.

A fairly updated list of Pirate festivals can be found here:

Texas is showing 7 at least. :) Florida of course having many more however.

yeah and out of those 7....maybe three are possibly near the beach..most are heavily landlocked........none are in Galveston which actually HAS pirate history, and a surviving tall ship.

Start one?  ;D

( I say that because I am assisting with starting one in Pensacola Fl as we speak.  ;D )

And yes it is funny since Galveston certainly does have pirate history. On another note, Lake Charles La. (closer to Texas than Florida, anyway. :P ) will be having their annual fest next month, based off of Lafitte's history there. Never been, looks to be a pretty big one and we may go this year to check it out.  8)

I'm all for starting one.......I'd have no idea how to go about it though, LOL. But I'm sure Galveston would appreciate it. They're trying to do anything to bring in more commerce and they just opened their new Pirate Museum...makes sense that a pirate fest would follow.......

We were in League City from 2005-2008. My X grew up in Galveston and we drove down several times a month to visit a few restaurants we liked and to walk down The Strand.  I also volunteered at Moody Gardens Aquarium. Moving from there was a big mistake in retrospect. I miss being close to Houston and the energy of the City. (And of course being close to TRF)
