Title: Start Watching for Ticket Deals!
Post by: Bonny Pearl on April 12, 2012, 08:30:22 AM
It looks like TRF is starting to put out discount ticket deals.  I saw a link on FB from the TRF page last night that had 17 tickets for $125.00!  Score!!  ;D

The deal from yesterday has already expired otherwise I would post it.

Keep an eye out for any you see and perhaps we can use this thread to link them for everyone.  :)

I can't remember now, but do they have any deals for weekend passes? Since we will only be coming down for closing weekend? I am guessing it would be a weekend plus 1 day pass/ticket.

Will someone alert me if there are any specials so I don't miss them up here in the great white north.  ;)

We'll post them up here so check back.  Later year there was a deal where there tickets were cheaper than if we'd bought group passes but it was in August so keep an eye out.

I posed a question to TRF on FB about this.  My concern was not having tickets to show the guard at the camp gate to be able to buy our camp pass.  Their reply was that I can turn in my voucher/receipt for tickets at the office (business hours, etc.) or that the guard will accept seeing the voucher/receipt as proof of ticket purchase.  For the latter, I could then pick up the tickets at the gate.

We did the voucher last year, and they let us into camp with the printed form with no problems. We bought the 17 tickets for this year, so we're paid for and committed to four weekends with you heathens, now come see me at Space City Con (http://spacecitycon.com/) and we'll call it even ;)

Thanks Breandan, good to know presenting the voucher has been done and accepted before.  The Space City Con looks interesting.  I've never been to one.  Will have to mark the calendar and see if we can make it out there.

My only concerns for this are in the fine print...

All tickets can be picked up at Texas Renaissance Festival Will Call;

must present valid ID that matches name on voucher • Remaining food will be picked up at Shoppe 130D •

Entire value must be used in a single visit
-----------------------

Since ive never bought from living social,   im assuming that 1 voucher is good for 4 tickets?  or do you get a voucher for each ticket?
And,  the entire value to be used in a single visit -   is this the value for a single ticket?  or do all 4 tickets have to be burned that weekend since it appears that the only place to pick these up is at will call?

And.... I was looking for a way to give them the ticket holders names on the trf website but couldnt find any.... how does this take place?  Via living social?
This gets back to.... if you put your name on a voucher and its good for 4 tickets.... in theory,  your name will then be on all 4 tickets....  Can i simply just give one of my tickets to a friend on that day?

so many questions..... did anybody buy from them before that might have these answers?

Also note that it is a family pack - 2 adults, 2 children

If it's like last year, it leads you to the TRF ticket website where you put in a code for each ticket and you can either have them at will call or print them up and use them at your leisure.

Once you are on the buying screen for the tickets you can put the name on them.  And TRF doesn't look at the name on the ticket, they just scan them.

Hope that helps!

Still wondering about the entire value being used in a single visit...now if I can get the 4 tickets and use 1 ticket on 4 seperate weekends that would be great but I only need 3 adult tickets per weekend and that would just be a waste of a ticket if I have to use them all at one visit

The redemption is very simple.  Last year you had to go to our site and go through a long process to redeem your purchase.  Now you bring your receipt to the gate and they give you the number and type of tickets you purchased.  Tickets are not date specific.  The only problem I could see is if you bought the package to share with someone, in your name, and they came a weekend before you with the receipt and no ID to match.  The person who purchased the tickets would need to come to the gate first and then give the tickets out. There are limited numbers of these packages and if my math is correct, $30 for 4 adult tickets is $7.50, this is the best deal of the season.  Hope this answers all your questions if not e-mail me talbert@texrenfest.com

Ugh... that makes things difficult.

I think i like the ability to do it from the website because then i could print out the tickets.

GIven that I live 4 hours away in dallas,   If i wanted to share these with my friends and for some reason i couldnt make it down... everybody would be screwed.

Edit -

Is there a chance that they will revert it back to the system from last year?  The other problem i could see would be for campers.  We had to have tickets on hand when we came in last year or buy a ticket at the camping entrance.  How will this be address when we roll up without any kind of ticket?

Interestingly enough, and try to avoid going off topic, but the local law man has never questioned any of our group who claimed their tickets to be at will call.  Not sure if anyone else has the same experience or not.

While you may like the old process we received countless, problems with people trying to redeem and get their tickets last year.  These social media deals are a great price but not designed for every purpose.  This is the best way we could think of. As long as you have the receipt they will let you in the campground gate.

My twitter feed with TRF:

Jessica Mayo @Loki_Goddess
@texrenfest will your Majesty consider having a one day sale on the camping passes? Maybe half price? Just a thought...

Texas Renfest @texrenfest
@Loki_Goddess Sure! I will consider it. They are already pretty cheap @ $20 per car for the weekend though... ~The King

Jessica Mayo @Loki_Goddess
@texrenfest yes but when you have to bring two cars that gets expensive. Also think about everyone that comes out multiple weekends...

Texas Renfest @texrenfest
@Loki_Goddess Would it help if I sent you a camping pass? ~The King

Jessica Mayo @Loki_Goddess
@texrenfest why yes! Yes it would! And I'd be ever so grateful!

Texas Renfest @texrenfest
@Loki_Goddess Great! PM me your mailing address and I will consider the half price camping passes for a day as well. ~The King

...so be on the look out for possible camping deals as well... ;D  But please don't hound them for free passes... :-\

Oh and possibly post on the FB site or twitter site asking about it as well...maybe if they see the overwhelming demand for it they'll do it!

Instead of doing Groupon and similar ticket sales this year I am just going to discount the tickets myself and pass the savings onto you. That way I don't have to give those guys any percentage of the sales.

WEWT!  It is starting!  ;D

From Hector:
TRF has posted an event on Facebook:
August 10th, tickets on sale on their website
4 pack Adult Any Day, $54

Pretty good deal if you ask me!  Just thought I'd pass this along.

This is directly through the TRF ticket sales website all day on the day of.
https://texrenfesttickets.entausa.com/WebPages/EntaWebpublic/PURCHASEOPTIONS.ASPX (https://texrenfesttickets.entausa.com/WebPages/EntaWebpublic/PURCHASEOPTIONS.ASPX)

They posted it on FB so I posted it here  ;)
TRF is skipping the middle man (i.e. GroupOn etc) and applying the deals directly to the buyers on set days.

I will try to see if there are any Promo codes, unless anyone has one already... I would sure love a discount on the camping passes, especially for those days that I travel alone.

Don't know if you guys noticed the Adult Four Pack Deal going on August 10th.  Four anyday tickets $54 or $13.50 per ticket or $14.50 with the service fee.  Still a good deal.  This will be the last deal that we are doing this year.  After this they will be regular price throughout the festival.

I'll be looking for any discounted tickets that may go unused from someone's season ticket pack, if anyone knows they won't be using one (or more).  The renlet and I will be trying very hard to make it down for AHE this season, and any savings at all will help!

The 1000 mile round trip will be taking the lion's share of our available funds... so we're definitely on the lookout for any good deals!  I think I need to go to the fb page to see if there are any calls for entries to win tickets, I guess!  lol

I asked my company's HR department to request Corporate Codes. This allows you to purchase your tix at the will call window at $17 a piece using your companies corporate code.  Last year I would keep a set of tix in my car to show when entering the campgrounds, and would buy the tickets for that weekend at the will call window on Saturday.

The $44 Family bundle is what we will most likely be getting.  It offers 2 adult and 2 child tickets, and my renlet is still 12 this year, thank goodness!  That's only $11 per ticket, and that's not a bad deal!  Not bad at all...

Does anyone know, if we purchased the sale priced ticket bundles, can we just print them out one at a time and take them to the gate that way, or do we need to redeem them for actual tickets?

Thanks!

Tink, the tickets you buy online are printable and can be scanned at the gate.  You should see one of those electronic bar codes or boxes on them.  No need to do anything else with them.  :)

As I've been terribly lax on watching for specials, I'll just go for the Military Discount tickets. $17 each.  No day restrictions.

I dont know why I didnt post this earlier...

I was able to get my company to set up a corporate code http://texrenfest.com/corporate-code (http://texrenfest.com/corporate-code)

ABS-39

You can get tix at Will Call window.  Last year I was able to tell the guards at campgrounds gates that I will be purchasing tix at Will Call with either Corporate Code or Military Discount and they let me in.

You dont need anything other than Corporate Code.  I dont remember, but how much are the tix at Walgreens?

I paid $21 for adult anyday tickets at Walgreens.  Sunday only is cheaper but I didn't ask by how much.

Thanks, Keeper.  With the corporate code they will be $17.  I hope to take advantage of it since my company said it will be the first and last time.  Next year I'll have to form my own corporation!!

See you out there!!
