Title: TRF Improvements!
Post by: LadyJessica on May 22, 2012, 01:20:44 PM
Has anyone else seen the pics that TRF has been posting on their FB account?

Improvements (https://www.facebook.com/#!/media/set/?set=a.10150825637101188.403186.101570651187&type=1)

Now correct me if I'm wrong but it looks like the La Villata was where the fighting school used to be? Also I think that the Barbarian Inn is back in Sherwood where the wine tasting used to be a few years ago.

I knew of the new restaurant taking over the old fight school.  I assume Hasslehoff will get a new class room.  The barbarian inn however is new to me.  Wonder if that will be a new sit down restaurant too?

I'm thinking pub for the Barbarian Inn, but I could be wrong.

Sorry I've been MIA!

The Barbarian Inn is being built to replace the Falcooners Inn and it was changed last year.  It will have a two story observation area to drink and watch the crowd.

The Art of Defense and the Museum are moving and have a new home, much safer for the public to view everything.  La Villata is a Latin/South American sitdown restaurant that is being built in that space. No reservation needed.

Big changes are happening everywhere and are needed because some of the building were falling down!

Hope this helps.  Check out the facebook as we update you on the progress!  Globe Stage looks great!

I forgot the Globe Stage!  I know the original had many memories and will be missed, but the new Globe has been really excting to rebuild.  While it is the same size and shape we have added many of the features from the current Globe in London.  We have commissioned Scott from Freebird Glass to create the glass work and when it is complete it will be breath taking.  Those pictures can be found on our facebook page as wel

I've seen some of the improvements while down to work on the shop.
Looks like they also replaced most/all of the perimeter wall and the gates.
Now if we could just get a little better drainage in the lanes... :)

The Observation Deck sounds like a great idea.
Just a word of warning: Modest men in kilts (if they actually exist) might not want to stand near the railing for too long, lest they also end up on facebook, especially on breezy days.

So I just saw on FB that a rumor is spreading around about the possibility of TRF having year round themed camping.  Any truth to this Terre?  I know we could totally go for something like this!   ;D

IT's one of many ideas we have for the campgrounds.  More likely would be seasonal, like Summer/Fall.

The shade will be nice for some. Personally I've never liked the Sea Devil. There are so many tables crowded together that it is hard to get to a seat. Then if you do, there is no breeze because it's already enclosedfrom three sides; and the smoke is so thick my eyes start streaming within seconds.

The redone Barbarian Inn looks more my speed.

It seems that I practically live at the Sea Devil.  A friend of mine works there (Anyone know Truly?).  I hope the deck is StudMuffin friendly because it looks quite promising.

I do and I love her!  I hope that the deck allows for us to order from her end of the bar without having to go around the thing though.

Terre, added shade would be a blessing at stage where Sound and Fury play, as well as area where Cast in Bronze performs...... just sayin' for future improvements.

I had the chance to see grounds while hubby was at rehearsal last weekend. Wonderful job!!! New buildings and improved tree rings to sit on!

Thanks!

A word of warning on the Barbarian Inn.  A TRF contractor took a look at the new deck and is concerned about its stability.  It's not his project so he had no input on it, but he thinks a good crowd and a little swaying could bring it down.

Just thought I'd pass on what I heard.

Interesting I would think it would have to pass inspection for permits, etc.  I can't imagine the faire would build something that could be dangerous.

But hey we'd have a story to put in Mouse's new thread...

This one time at Faire, we got royally toasted and rocked the deck, similar in fashion to the scene in "Pirates of the Carribean", until it collapsed.  A mass exodus of frightened 'danes screaming as they scurried into the lane, wide eyed and gawking as we brought the inn down around us.  We mostly escaped with our lives, Bonnie never spilled a drop of mead, Fraser successfully executed a duck and roll, landing on his feet in the crowd of 'danes, like he had been there the whole time.  Yeah, you should have been there (o:

Unless George has his own inspections. There would be none by city, county or state. It's not in an incorporated area large enough to be required.

The new Barbarian Inn was inspected and an additional center brace was placed to make it stable.  We wouldn't allow new construction to pass without it.  I believe this TRF Contractor you speak of must have been on it before it was completed.  See everyone in a few days!
