Okay, so I need to make a new skirt to go with my new bodice:

It's not as YELLOW! as it looks in the picture; it's more of a mustard. It's a linen/cotton blend and I want to keep the skirt in similar fabric/texture. I found a linen-look in a *brilliant* turqoise--almost robin's egg blue--that I thought would off-set the yellow, and I think it would make a wonderful gypsy costume with all those colors thrown together. Am I off the mark with this one? Should I go with a brown or earth tone?? I don't usually do bright colors, but I really want to do something different. My only other idea was to make it in the garnet of the trim on the bodice (the sleeves will be garnet too). Ideas? Suggestions? Accusations? Admonishments? ;)
Well, my first thought was a very bright green (emerald), so I totally vote for the turquoise! Also, something rich-but-neutral could help with the taxicab yellow effect, if you were so inclined. Maybe a deep chocolate brown? Or a very dark charcoal? Something that has enough intensity of its own, without *also* being a very bright signature color.
When I'm playing with color combos (which I do all the time), I like to trace off photos of similar silhouettes to what I'm making, and then either color them in by hand, or in Photoshop if I'm in a hurry. Here's (http://pic50.picturetrail.com/VOL417/1033223/23865558/403321608.jpg) the one I have for working with my black-skirt-???-color-guards issue. I also took a photo without the guards colored in so I could play with colors in Photoshop. Much faster!
Also, there's this fun online gadget that Centuries posted in my Moresca bodice thread: http://kuler.adobe.com/#create/fromacolor
Yeah, I'm a sketcher, I just haven't pulled out my supplies lately. Tomorrow. I saw that color thing on your Morescu thread, very cool! I'll have some swatches cut ond pop off some pics to post.
My instincts also say turquoise or bright emerald for compliment!
