It has begun. Well, it has for ME anyways. There is SO much to get done before we get out there in two weeks. I've lucked out this year. My character is getting a new dress! With that comes... well, a LOT of work. I'm about to start construction on a proper corset to go underneath. I have NO CLUE what I'm doing, but my friend Eide is a whiz at it. I still need to get my pallets out to faire and my camp staked off. This weekend brings fight auditions... who has bets on whether or not I'll be able to pass it LOL?
We have a few new members to our court this year. I'm SO excited to see what will come out of our group. I have this feeling that we're going to rock it like we never have before. There is a LOT of new talent coming in overall, and the experienced talent has been shuffled around a bit. I can't wait to see you all out there, and I can't wait to show off what all we can do :D
Yay, yay, yay! *jumps excitedly*
Anxious to hear how the weekend fights go.
We always seemed to be at the wrong place at the wrong time last year to see the various courts do their thing. Hope to see your performances this year.
Fight auditions went down this past weekend. Just found out that I'm cleared to fight this year and I'm searching for a fight partner LOL! I managed to escape this weekend with a huge amount of bug bites, clothing dripping (literally) with sweat, and a jacked up right leg. I call that pretty good for not having fought for a year.
The new corset is chugging along. I should be done with it by the second week of rehearsals, which means I can then contact my costumer to begin construction of my new dress. I'm absolutely EXCITED about everything that's happening!
I was asked to work a promo this weekend, so I'll be missing this Saturday's rehearsal. Don't fret, though. I'll write about the Sunday fight call and the Saturday evening festivities :D

A brick?!!? Just give the girl a flipflop!
Blue. where were you today? Stopped by the performance cast exercise by the entrance around noon to look for you and give you a hug. Couldn't find you.
She was off being a big star (o:
There were three lovely ladies, including WarCat, who were at the TRF promotion table at Space City Con on Saturday.

Week 1...
I was excited to be appearing with two other very lovely performers at Space City Con. We took a stroll through the Galleria in costume and had a great time chatting with people and children. Well, the other ladies did. Princess Viggie doesn't get down like that LOL! We made it back to site by about 7pm, just in time to see the fighters coming out of fight call. Ooops LOL! We enjoyed a healthy dinner of baked chicken breasts and squash, then karaoke at Yellow Retriever. We were all lucky enough to catch some of the Perseid Meteor Shower from the grandeur that is the Joust Arena. It was BEAUTIFUL! We headed back to camp to spend our first night in our home. I'm currently shacking up with the King and Queen of France, as well as the Transylvanian family pet LOL! It's a full house, but I love them muchly and we're all family.
7am Sunday brought a trip down to the EB for... well... you know what LOL! We ran into one of the n00bs passed out in the grass on the way and had a good giggle. Fight call started at 9am, so we quickly ate a light and healthy breakfast and trudged out to beat the crap out of each other. Our new Transylvanian, Mister Jeffrey Lord, decided to take on the challenge of fighting me for this year. He and I made quick work of getting with an AMAZING group of choreographers to get our fight sorted out. He's still new and not used to how we fight, so I came away covered in bruises. I didn't even realize they were there due to the inch deep layer of dirt on EVERYTHING. The rest of my court was kind enough to pick out little pieces of pine cone and needle out of my hair. I managed to get dirty sweat in my eye, then as I flailed around, I bit my tongue and twisted my ankle. YAAAAY! Ok, that was a lie. No yay. Made it home by 1 that afternoon, showered, and passed out.
Next weekend is going to be rough, as I'll be there for EVERYTHING instead of taking the easy road out and doing a promo. Dance call at 9am, classes from 1-4, and fight call both on Saturday (from 5-7) and Sunday (from 9-6). It's going to hurt, but it's going to be worth it. Also, I'm going to be SO thin by the time the season starts LOL!
Silly question Warcat, but when you say "classes" what sort of classes do you mean? Line rehearsing, history, ect?
Weeks 2 and 3...
Two weeks. Two HOT weeks. Two epic rainstorms at around 6pm. ONE FLOODED TENT.
These last two weekends have been much of the same. Dancing our lives away, "acting" like we have some sense, and fighting for the common good. By that, I mean that we're kicking the crap out of each other. I've managed to lose a little weight in the past two weeks. So much that I had to take in the corset that I JUST MADE.
Week 2 was my first full weekend out at rehearsals due to the promo on Week 1. The day went by fairly quickly. Dance in the morning, classes in the afternoon, followed by fight call at 5:45. We noticed dark clouds rolling in at about 6pm, accompanied by LIGHTNING! Not smart to fight with swords in a lightning storm, so we booked it back to the EB for the rest of rehearsal. Oh, but wait. OMFG RAIIIIIIN! Wait, um, did we leave the windows down in the tent? OH GOD NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!! We took off running through the back field to our tent in the rain, getting absolutely SOAKED in the process. We got to the tent to notice that the windows were up, BUT the damn thing sprung a leak inside RIGHT over both beds. All of our bedding and pillows were positively drenched, so we had to find other sleeping arrangements. Due to all the wet, we stayed in and watched movies instead of going out to karaoke.
Sunday was full of fighting. Fighting and trying to get all the wet bedding into my friend's car for transport home. FAIL!
Week 3 had us doing much of the same. We were able to get some of our bits ironed out, and we choreographed a new dance for our court. YAY! For dance call, we brought out the Super Soaker of Shame. If you mess up the steps, you get shot with the gun. It was a fun way to get people to pay attention to what they were doing. I kinda adore being dance bouncer LOL! We had our fight call at 5:45 again, and damn if it didn't start pouring at 6pm AGAIN! We were very happy to see that the tarp we put over the rainfly was doing it's job. Everything was DRY! WOOT! Afterwards, we set out to hunt and gather food (see also: Rancho Grande in Magnolia) and indulged in enchiladas and margaritas. Made it back to camp to have a shower, then out for karaoke! We made *quite* an impression on the bar patrons with our rousing rendition of Proud Mary. After that, home again to catch 5 hours of much needed rest before we had to get up again to fight on Sunday.
Sunday was RIDICULOUSLY hot. We fought anyways, and had a chance to show off what we could do for the bossman. Ran into some costuming issues, so I spent my lunch in the sweatbox of a costume closet trying to find something for one of our new Transylvanians to wear. MAN it was hot. The afternoon session of fight call (from 2-6) was productive, but tiring. By the time I made it home, I didn't have any energy left. I had just enough left in me to chew and swallow some dinner, but then I promptly melted into a puddle of sore goo in front of the tele.
We don't return to rehearsals until Sept 8, so I'll check back in after that :D
Scarlet...
Our classes include Acting and Scripting, Character and Improv, as well as Opening Gate/Noon Proclamation/Evening Proclamation rehearsal :D
So sorry that I haven't been writing. I caught a nasty bug last week and a wicked head injury this week. I'll make sure to write it all up after my head clears from this medication fog LOL!
Sounds like you could use some bug squashing (o:
