Title: Source for bargain-priced men's shirt?
Post by: gem on August 08, 2012, 03:18:44 PM
I'm making my FIL a new doublet for this season, but he also really needs a new shirt, as well (the one he has now is all wrong for the new doublet). Alas, I won't have time to make him one before Fair starts next month. We could loan him one, of course, but I'd love for him to have a nice new one of his own.

In the past, I've seen chemises on ebay and etsy for crazy low prices, but I'm not seeming to find any men's shirts lately. I'd like to keep it under $50, if I can (otherwise it's really not worth it for me to buy).

Anyone spot a bargain lately?

Gramercy!

$44.95....just barely under $50. I believe that this is actually made by Sofi's who turns out a quality product.

Thanks, DC! I had forgotten about Tudor Shoppe! They actually have quite a selection in my price range.

Here's one.  And they have many sizes listed.  Good luck!

I have one of Robbie Logue's shirts that he sells on Etsy. I wore mine last year with my Jacobite garb. Worked and looked great (although I stitched up the collar opening some more to put it closer to my throat), very comfortable and a nice price too. He has them in a bunch of different sizes.

I have a couple of these shirts and I think they work well with peasant garb. They are made of a medium weight, coarse cotton and are very sturdy. They do shrink quite a bit when washed so buy a size up. They are offered in a collared and no-collar style so search the site a bit:
