Post by: Glaodian on August 15, 2012, 12:56:45 PM
I was just checking to see who all is going to make it Celtic weekend.  I will be there for sure.  Anyone else?

Yep, I'll be there.

Not that I have any choice. Gotta keep an eye of those rascal campers (and what goodies they are cooking).

Just let me know Bear when you know for sure.  So that you and I can plan on how we are going to get both of our pop-up campers in PR's site.   :)

I will be in Austin on the Thursday and Friday before this so I was considering stopping on the way back to Houston Saturday for the day.  Are kilts and such the standard dress for this or is it more like a state fair for this weekend with everyone in mundanes?

Chris B - I go in my fare garb, last year I went in my Irish dress.  Kilts are all over Sherwood be it during the Celtic weekend or just another day at faire, whatever you are the most comfortable in.  Things Celtic did have a booth out there last year.

Seriously considering making the trek out there just for an excuse to wear my knotwork cross rope back piece (over a bikini top, maybe?).. technically I DID make the cross as an example of Celtic knotwork.. that qualifies, right?

well, as you'd expect at a Highland games there were a lot of kilts, mostly worn in 'non garb' fashion, but I'd say about 25% of the crowd was in faire garb last year.

these guys and I wore our mundanes   8) ;

But, it was OK with us if somebody wanted to wear fair garb...

I shall be there myself! As far as garb goes, I think this year we shall just do mundanes. Yes, my outfit is close, but Alex's is -way- not close. I have a few skirts and some wrap pants from Renshirts that fit nicely to the occasion..

* Wants Alex in a kilt so -bad-*

Thanks for the responses.  A kilt it is then.  I will probably leave the arms and shield at home though.   :)

No worries.  I will be there early enough to help guide PR's members to our camp.

As of right now I am planning on being there, lets see if work and finances allow for it to happen.

I'll be there and as G knows I'm cooking Saturday night in the PR camp. It may be a Celtic weekend but I'm cooking Italian. Don't know any Celtic dishes but I promise what I'm making is darn good

My Saturday show may be canceled due to Fox changing rules on us. With that being the case my weekend would then be open, which means I will be there.

Yep, they sure are.  If you purchase your tickets online, you will also have the option to purchase a camping pass.

Of course. Same as downtown. $10 for adults, $5 for children 6-12.

I'll be out there! Lending a hand at the henna booth and making a general fool of myself (I fully intend to do some dancing!). I can't wait. :) My camera hasn't been put to use in way too long.

PS- If you know you want henna, come early. Robert does great work and it's bound to be crazy busy.

Greetings Gwen. I'll wave at ya when I'm busy at the Seven Sisters. Also have a memorial tree to plant for Owain that weekend.

You better! And holler if you need any help with the planting, of course. Anyone going to lead a song by the tree? Health to the Company, maybe? It seems fitting..

At least this workweek will fly by!

Chris B ! Looking forward to seeing you there, my brother!

Lynne and I will be there..... of course I will be kilted. May be half modern (T-shirt) ...may be ren'd out with shirt and doublet.... haven't decided BUT I will be kilted !

That will make 5 events in 1 week that I got to wear a kilt!

WoooHooooo ! ! ! !

Oh.... FYI ... anyone wishing to stay at the Holiday Inn Express on 290... the Sherwood Forest Web Site lists them under "lodging" and it says they give 15% discount to Sherwood goers... THIS IS NO LONGER TRUE. Management is no longer honoring this discount and is raising the rates by 20% on weekends that Sherwood is open.

Awesome!  Looking forward to seeing you Merlin.  I am already in Austin with Jennifer.  She has a bellydance convention here for the next four days, but we are both coming to Sherwood on Saturday.  Sitting right now in my hotel doing continuing professional education with my kilt and Scottish garb next to me.   ;D
