Wow! You can throw your earplugs away! Posted on FB this morning:
"We'll have new rules and regulations on amplified music in the campground for the 2012 season. I'll pass along the details here in the weeks leading to the Festival. ~Ranger Benjamin~"
Talk about shuttin' 'em down quick.
Woot Woot!!
Sucks to be them... :D
For those of you who have Law Enforcement experience, I've got a question or two -
If you're working on private property, like at TRF, how far can you use the "force of law" to enforce the property owner's rules, if someone's behavior is not against the law?
The reason I'm asking is - If Grimes County has a "Noise Ordinance" that people are transgressing, couldn't that be enforced by the Sheriff's Department, even if TRF didn't have specific "Quiet Time" rules?
They can enforce it at a private residence, why not a parcel of land on 1774?

That's sort-of my point - If there's already a Grimes County Noise Ordinance that the Sheriff's Office could be enforcing, why wasn't it done last year, and why would it require that the property owner (TRF) create "Quiet Time" Rules this year, before the Sheriff can do something? (I realize that "Drunk & Disorderly" or "Disturbing the Peace" are more likely than "Noise Ordinance".) If the rules are more restrictive than the Law, could the Sheriff really do anything about that? Wouldn't it be up to TRF Management and their Security people to ask the offenders to leave? (A "
We reserve the right to refuse service to anyone." kind of situation.)
EDIT: Fixed typos.

Also means folks need to cut back on all the conjectures and hostile postings to a perceived threat. Pass your concerns to the management staff and we will take them under consideration (you may find that we are already working on them).
Considering the long history of previous management teams ignoring the concerns that patrons and employees have brought up along these lines for years, you can understand that they are used to being ignored and taking matters into their own hands to protect themselves and their property. Keeping everyone in the loop as much as possible, even if its as simple as a statement of "We are aware of the matter and are taking steps to handle any issues it may cause", will go a LONG way towards keeping the furor down.
*I still want to see if they can dance on fire* :D
I speak from experience of having been at the fire circle when one of them got too close to the bonfire... yes, yes they can ;D
As a side note, there should be a breathalyzer test to get within fifty feet of that fire, ESPECIALLY after the splody-keg incident a few years back, and the guy I had to treat for second degree burns the following year after he pretty much faceplanted into the fire.
Thanks for keeping us in the loop it reduces the level of concern.
Thanks for the updates, Mike. There are a lot of things under consideration and we appreciate you guys keeping us informed.

Almost exactly my reaction. I hope this thread stays updated with links to official news, though, as this stands as nothing more than rumor right now.
Anything coming from Mike Pullen (mpullen) is fact, as Mike is the TRF (and Sherwood) campground manager. If Mike says it, it's law (o:

Actually, I'm just the Patron's campgrounds host. Tom is the campgrounds manager at TRF.
I'm the "up-front guy", who directly interacts with the Patron campers, as I know many of the clans/groups and have over 15 years as a Patron camper and I'm very open to seeing their point of view and concerns. Not just the clans/groups, but the individual camper, whether a long time camper or just camping for the first time.
Any "official" statement will be made on the Facebook page. I will pass along any info here as it gets established as firm by Tom and Terre, for those who don't do Facebook.

The official TRF Farcebook page?
See the new thread that gives the official campgrounds rules, especially noise restrictions.
