It's opening weekend at KCRF, but thanks to Hurricane Isaac*, it's been too muddy the last two days to wear any of my new garb, and I'm terribly bored with all my older, muddy-dog-friendly garb.
So I pulled out a bodice I made back in 2007 when I was losing weight... and then shrunk out of before I ever had a chance to wear it. I've put back on a few pounds, so I thought I'd give it a try again. Well, the good news is that it's still too big! But the bad news is, it's still too big. :-\ So I came home, scowled at it, and made two major but simple changes: 1.) Started with a Really Good Mundane Undergarment and 2.) Spiral-laced the thing so the front flaps overlapped instead of met. WOW! Huge difference. The bodice is still too big, and five years on all I can see is how much my sewing (and fitting) has improved, so I won't be wearing it again. But it was a great save, and I am ever so impressed with myself for thinking of it! ;D
*Muddy opening weekend aside, probably no state EVER has been so happy to have a hurricane reach its borders!! We have *desperately* needed the rain (We're in one of the areas classified as Exceptional Drought).
Wish I had seen you there! It was fun doing a Renfaire in the hurricane... 12" of mud in some areas. My poor old garb was thoroughly muddy by the afternoon.
I spend that evening in the hotel room taking 3" out of my doublet... I apparently shrank out of it as well, and even Spiral didn't help!
Huzzah for shrinkage!

Glad to hear you girls are shrinking like violets ;)
Gem- nice save. You know you might consider selling it if its not too worn. Might not fetch much but it would free up space in the garb closet ;)
