Has there been any notice about when the Entertainment List (http://www.sherwoodforestfaire.com/faire/entertainment/independent-acts/) will be updated for 2013 on the SFF Web Site?
Thanks,
David Baldock
Probably will be soon. Waiting for all the contracts to come back, I would think.
I'd very much like to see it, and a schedule. I just like to plan ahead
That's the web site page I keep checking, myself. Only heard tidbits of info from a few individual acts thus far.
Waiting for the last few contracts. Zane will post when things are firmed up.
So, do we know if Circa Paleo is coming back this season?
I am also stalking there web page as I cant wait to see what acts will be there. Pride o Bedlam from TRF has posted on their FB that they will be there the weekend of Feb 23. ;D

The
Circa Paleo - Calendar (http://www.circapaleo.com/calendar/) doesn't list either
Sherwood Forest Faire or
Scarborough Faire this Spring. So far, they're only listing the
Oklahoma Renaissance Festival, in May and June.

No. However, two members will be staffing the Paleo Puffin.
That is very disappointing to me. I've spent almost a year labouring under the assumtion that I'd be seeing Circa Paleo at SWFF. I don't know if this was something the faire had that much control over, but honestly now I wish I'd spent the money (that I couldn't afford to spend) for my FOF pass to see their show in December at the damn Mucky Duck.
(This is not to imply I'm not going, it's still my favorite faire)
Dang. One of my fondest renfaire memories is sitting down at the Paleo Puffin to take shelter from the freezing cold with a steaming cup of coffee and being introduced to the great music of Circa Paleo. I came back to catch two more of their shows that day. I hope they manage to visit us again in future years.
Diddo on "that is really disappointing". I was looking forward to seeing them myself. Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't they based in Houston? A very popular band that is "local", first TRF didn't get them back and now SWFF didn't get them back either. The faire, the band, and the fans all lose out.

While they are from San Antonio, I believe that Jenny & Kelly (the two sisters in
Circa Paleo) are currently living in the Los Angeles, CA area (judging from their Facebook pages).
circa paleo is grand. they will be missed. i promise you that VaNi MaZi on that stag will stir a fire within all the lovers of Circa Paleo as well. have faith that we have worked at trying to fill that loss with an equally entertaining band. rengypsy
Is this the band that played in the Sherwood Forest section of TRF this past season? If so they were very good.
YES!!! had huge groups of patrons about them. Gypsy dancing too. Fantastic bulgarian and gypsy folk. Likewise, if you want a taste of them, they are playing this Friday night at Sherwood's pub beginning at 9pm. Free of course...the intro into our gathering this weekend.

Jenny stated on FB that she is actively look for a house in LA.
Guess she's trying to be a star
It happens when musicians try to make a living wage. If you've not been there, don't be hard on them.
Best of luck to Jenny, and anybody else trying to expand careers.
As for missing Circa Paleo, yes; but you never know what's coming up next. That's part of the charm of renfaires, and in particular Sherwood. There's always something new (or old but new to me).
we are extremely excited about our entertainment lineup for 1192. stay tuned. we also have a new mud show this season and the washing well wenches will be performing the last four weekends. we have no doubt our entertainment will be enjoyable and meet and exceed your expectations.

Looks like the 2013 edition has been posted:

Awesome to hear that the Washing Well Wenches will be in the village. I enjoyed them back when they did TRF.
My go to music is The Rambling Sailors. Pirate! Go figure (o:
Just my two cents:
What I think makes bands like Circa Paleo and Tartanic different from other bands I've seen perform at faires is that they don't just stand there and perform. There is a wonderful interaction with the crowd that turns the performance into a party. I would love to see more bands do this. Also, I know I might be the minority, but as much as I admire historical accuracy and historical reenactment, I do appreciate modern tunes with a old world twist if only because it's something I recognize immediately. The Last of the Mohicans Theme and White Rabbit first drew my attention to Circa Paleo from across the faire. I lingered longer and fell in love with their other stuff.
So, cent 1: more dance-y, party, fun-times
Cent 2: at least one little familiar modern piece
ARTHUR GREENLEAF HOLMES!!!
Sorry, I hadn't noticed he was added until today. I love that character. I've told him before that I missed Scratch the Beggar but with Arthur as the replacement... I am well pleased.
*Rum Toast to whomever signed him!*
Klaus Hamlin is back! yes!
I remember one weekend at Sherwood last year it was pouring down rain. I was walking with someone in our clan and as we came down from the hill around the Joust area I saw Klaus playing on his stage. Since it was raining there was - no one - on his benches, but you could not tell from his playing. He was clearly pouring himself into his music and did not rightly care that no one was in front of him. I stopped, listened for a few minutes, and tipped him very graciously.
I can't wait to see him again - his music was beautiful, and his spirit even more so.
