How many people use some part of there garb in there everyday mudane clothing? I will use my bodices in my mundane clothing, I bought them from Damesl in the dress and I just love them. I have a friend who comes over to try my bodices on, she thinks they are so cool. She even has me put the outfit on soo she can see it. (hoping it won`t be long she really get into the garb at the fairs) The jewerly that I bought to wear with them is so so pretty I use it all the time with other outfits., and I have worn my boots with other out fits a well, in the winter months. ;D
I sneak some faire into my other life whenever possible.
M'lady wears her Ren leather all the time. Any time we are going out for the evening it is 50/50 that she will decide on her leather. She often is accused of being a biker chic which is fine. She usually corrects them so they know she is a Rennie.
None of my garb can really pass as mundane clothing but I do occassionally wear some of my jewelry.
I have a few things that have worked into my regular clothes. I used to have a pair of rope shoes that I would wear all the time. They were so comfy! And I wear jewelry from faire pretty often too.
I wear my Windwalker boots as winter boots and my cloaks and capes instead of winter coats here in Minnesota. So much warmer and more comfortable than anything mundane I can find.

Same here. My faire jewelry is too pretty to store away, and I love shiny things!
When I'm dane version of meself out on the town, I usually wear my rings/jewelry. I have put on uber tight jeans and worn them with me "franken boots" bucketed low. (*Thanks for the inadvertent tip Wenchie!)
Just about all of the jewelry I wear to faire, I also wear regularly. :)
I wore one of my hats last winter to work. I even got complimented on it! (It was a Tall Toad flat cap (http://talltoad.net/caps.html))
I've worn my jingly Equinox coat from Moresca (http://moresca.com/shopping/product_details.php?id=319) to work a couple times and other places (usually on Halloween or April Fool's).
And my moccasins!
I do wear my boots, they are really comfy. And I wear some of my jewels, they are to pretty to put away.
I wear my ren shirts all the time and when the weather is cooler I wear my kilt. I was wearing my Scottish bonnett up until the weather here got just to hot for it.
I wear my dragon pendant regularly, I've even worn my kilt to work(once).
I am hoping to get a casual kilt, so I can be kilted more often.
I like to wear my sword and leather armor around the house when I feel as though I need to regain the executive function ;)

WHAT? I inspired MOLDEN? Wow!
OK I have worn my bodice and off-shoulder shirts with the uberjeans to rock concerts.
The boots have been worn too.
Some faire necklaces.
That may be about it for me.
My Crafty Celts wolf head torc gets worn everywhere, and always gets comments. My baubles do double duty as garb/mundane bling, and my faire footwear is really mundane stuff that works reasonably well for comfy garb, too.
I wear our shirts all the time, some of the jewelry, and to some special, but still dane events I've been known to wear my bodice and other items.
I wear my black leather ren boots (slashed shoes) almost every time I wear black jeans, any time of the year. I also usually wear a chain maille bracelet and necklace of some type every day, all of which I made myself. Although this is not garb, I replaced a nylon velcro watch band with chain maille as well, which gets worn almost every day.
I can only pull of wearing the jewelry to work. Once in a while I can pull of my funky looking "pirate" skirt and boots too, depending on how many bosses are working that day.
Most of my garb doesn't work so well in mundane life. I do wear my dragon pendant and chain maille necklace to work quite often. I almost always wear shirt/pants/boots out for St. Pat's Day, and have been known to wear the same to Celtic music events as well. Whenever we go anywhere that libations in glass containers are frowned upon, we take our faire mugs (wood or leather won't break). We also use our mug straps for carry the glass mugs we use at the local brewery "tours" when we go. Also, I'll often use my belt pouch if I don't want to carry a purse.
The one thing we do wear outside faire is the jewelry.
Definitely jewelry! I love my jewelry that goes with my noble garb, and wear it often to work, and for dress-up occasions. Basically, if there is a chance that what I am wearing will go well with pearls.... well, I'm wearing my pearls! Wore a set yesterday, with jeans. ;D
The jewelry is a definite. It's also very common to see me in one of my bodices, I now have 5! lol Oh who am I kidding, most of my closet lives a double life, faire/mundane. tee hee
Yeah, I wear my armour to work all the time...
uh... no, wait, I don't really.
Just kidding.
Forget about the sword...
Now, they DO have pirate events here at work and I will wear some of my garb for those... and years ago, last time I actually went riding, I wore my tights under my jeans to go horseback riding... but that's for different reason...
I would love to find a way to incorporate my garb in my mundane stuff, but I haven't been able to find a way to do so yet. :'( But on the other hand, I'll survive.
I wear my bodice with differnet off the shoulder peasant shirts and then I have a number of like strapless fashion corsets from like charlotte russe and hot topic that I will wear with peasant shirts or a lone sometimes with peasant skirts, sometimes with jeans and boots... whatever I feel like lol
I love my medieval moccasins and jewelry. Poison rings go everywhere! LOL! I have even borrowed my Twin Sister's Pirate bloomers- now and then.
I never wear my faire clothes or jewlery outside of faire. I guess I'm sentimental, but much like holiday ornaments I like to keep my faire things tucked away so that they retain their "faire magic".
My friend and I wore our garb to school for spirit week. We got plenty of strange looks but we enjoyed the attention. We also got a lot of nice compliments on our bodices too. A lot of the girls didn't understand how we could wear them because they appeared to be uncomfortable. I'd rather wear a bodice than a t-shirt anyday but that's just me.
I wore some chainmaille boot bells to work "because it was Christmas"
I wear my peasant/wench skirts to work. They're comfortable and look nice, so why not? I wear them with nice sweater in the winter and some nice comfy non-tee-shirt top in the spring/summer.
I wore my pirate boots today. It was a co-worker's 40th birthday, and we decided to wear black, so I wore a black sweater and then thought, hey, my boots are black, so I wore them, too.
And my coworkers saw them and knew what they were. One said, "Oh, look, Renee's got on her pirate boots," since I've worn them before. I am the only pirate in the company. And they know that!
I usually wear my ren boots with black jeans about once a week to work because they're black.
I need no excuse at all to wear one o muh kilts, and I wear them often...to dinner, clubs, karaoke (haven't lived till youve seen "Sweet Transvestite" performed by a tipsy, kilt-clad squirrel lord in a Pasadena, Maryland dive), Weight Watchers meetings, DuClaw, Ramshead Tavern, et al.
My Jacobite shirts work well with jeans.
I made some simple chainmail stuff (a coif and a few neck chains) on my last tour out. The boys in my platoon were all but jumping for me to show up in a hauberk one day instead of my usual kevlar body armor. As fun and hilarious as it would've been, I declined. A skull-and-crossbones print bandanna under my helmet is about as far as I'll go.
My faire jewelry and everyday jewelry are the same, no difference, worn everyday.
I wear my skirts all the time in the summer with tank tops! Best thing ever! ;D
I've even worn my snoods to work under protest to keep from getting hairnets!
Purses also go under jewelry, used everyday!
my striped socks and tights, as much as possible! :o
And I keep a dagger in my purse for protection, but no one needs to know shhh! ;)
My niece wears our snoods to school, they're the new hair thing. ::)
We watched Prince Caspian last night and quickly decided that we needed to be armed while sitting on the couch. A dagger and a stiletto came off the wall and we have several swords fight throughout the evening.
I'll somtimes wear my bog shoes as house slippers. If it's cold enough I'll wear my kilt hose when I wear trousers.
I wear my jewelry of course and I also worn my chemise around the house-its huge and comfy :) the rest of my garb I worn to work and downtown during halloween..
I use my skirts all the time and my bloomers are my go to for comfies!
...then, there's the hairshirt that I have to work each day.
i wear my kilt at least 3 times a month. i bought one off stillwater for $30 so its my bumming around the house kilt(as a matter of fact im wearing it now).
Not much of my garb can be passed as mundane, but I have rope sandals that get worn just about everywhere. And when I'm bumming around the house, I'll usually throw on a skirt or chemise (or both and answer the door to find some door-to-door giving me strange looks. :D)
Of course, there's also the days that I go out in complete garb just because.
None of my garb can be passable for mundane public wearing, but many of the "props" that I have I'll commonly use. My props are traditional tools, and many of them work better then the modern ones!
I Also keep my flannel lined wool cloak in my car to use as a blanket when needed.
My dreamshoes from TRF are so comfortable that I wear them when working the credit card station at NTIF.
Wore my saffron kilt for St. Patrick's Day.
I have yet to try wearing any of my pirate garb in every day life. I suppose my shirt would be passable....and my knee length pants could probably be misconstrued as some elaborate shorts...
I have worn my pirate scarf on my motorcycle.
Funny enough, last night I was smoking my pipe and talking to my gf about going to Scarborough Faire....I got so nostalgic and excited that I put on my shirt, scarf and hat....while smoking my pipe while sitting on the balcony lit by a oil lamp.......lol.
I'm wearing my new fairy outfit to Eeyore's birthday party which is a big festival in Austin. I wore my courtesan outfit for Halloween this year also. Other than that, sadly my stuff doesn't really fit with my every day life, it's not too professional... I do wear my jewelry and shoes sometimes other places. I got a new bodice though that I think I could wear out clubbing, but haven't done it yet.

Eeyore's Birthday party is such a great time...fun characters like Silverman.
A young girl clasped a neclace with a small rampant lion pendant abround my neck. I took it off once in two years, to clean it and to replace the thin chain. I finally lost it when the Queen and I were tussling.
After my Faire belts start to show too much wear for a King, I cut them in half and make two belts. The one I'm wearing right now I've had for almost 10 years. The other half was cut up to make sword straps and the like.
At my wedding, here is what I wore:

My Groomsmen and I waiting for photos after the ceremony:
The leather Tophat I got in Ohio at the Blond Swan I wear that thing everywhere
Awesome photos of the wedding party. I occasionally try and sneak in my ren boots under my pants, though they seem to be better suited for the colder months. I've also worn them in conjunction with a Joker costume, but thats another story.
You and your groomsmen look so very handsom!! I am dying for faire just simply to see all the men in faire garb since they look so so much better that way!!!!

Confusing - so is the Renaissance Festival reference spurious or does it mean that they think female Rennies are likely to be the worst dressed women in America? (rhetorical question)
The email I posted above states that they are looking particularly for a rennie woman. I'm guessing that they got such a huge response from that July episode that they want to do another? There was another woman on an episode I've seen recently who was wearing fairy wings everywhere she went, as if she were 5 years old. :D

Go Ravens!
Occasionally, we have Blue Jean Weeks to raise money (you pay $15 for the privilege) for the United Way and UNCF. I offered to pay more to wear the kilt, but my bank manager said no.
Keep fighting the battle!! Haha
My work lets us dress up on halloween... *evil laughter* There's two rennies here... they'll understand. :D
I wear my corset out, especially to the local goth club. The gothy folk complimented me on it a lot when we went a few weeks ago :)
I've worn my wrap pants, my piratey bloomers, my jewelry, some of my skirts.
But I dress kind of different anyway so nothing seems very off limits to me anyway lol
I ALWAYS wear a costume to work on Halloween! I think this year I will go pirate! ;D
Occasionally, I have visited a bank in El Paso, TX, in which ALL employees are REQUIRED to wear a costume all the way up to the President. That's a bank to work for. Yes, there was one fellow dressed as William Wallace.

For whatever reason, this week my feet were killing me. No matter whether I wore my Birkenstock sandals or my tennis shoes with orthotics, they hurt non-stop. So I decided one day to wear my black tie-around-the-ankles Dream Shoes with a skirt. They felt like wearing marshmallows, very comfy.

Oo, just at Halloween.
Thank you Lady M. Opening day this season was the first time. It was well received. I had many lovely ladies inquire whether I was wearing a true kilt. Even had two who took it upon themselves to confirm my answer when I turned my back.
i always have a solid black bandana on, and some of my piratey necklaces never leave my body... some times i have the boots on too
funny enough i go to the grocery store wearing my mundane wear and i get stopped and asked if the renn faire is in town
I've been known to wear my corset under mundanes simply because I have a bad back and the corset gives great support and forces good posture! Nevermind the reactions I got at the fabric store after I first made it:
"How'd the corset turn out, Cara?"
"Great!" *lifts up shirt to show it off*
....silence....
"Looks great!"
I often incorporate parts of my 'mundane' wardrobe into faire garb ;)

I have a basket that I carry at Faire. I have tied bells on it and I just love the gentle tinkling sound. I take it with me to the grocery store now that we must take our own bags/carriers and get some very interesting looks. It reminds me of fun and new friends.
We had a Gilligan's Island contest today at work, with prizes for the best costumes of one of the castaways. I went as "Lovey" Howell. People were raving over my beautiful black parasol with the pearls sewn all over it. It is the parasol I use with my noble garb. I also wore the 7 strand pearl necklace that I bought for the same reason (faire). Voting was still going on when I left for the day, so I don't know if I won, but even if I didn't, I don't mind, because I looked at the parasol sitting at the end of my desk and all day thought of faire. ;D
Gilligan's Island Contest..I love it. And good luck on your signatures cousin.
As a Gypsy (both character and lifestyle, to a point) there has always been a great deal of my every day wardrobe that can be used for garb, and until I acquired my very first bodice and chemise ever earlier this spring, that's just what I did for Faire. All of my scarves, skirts, jewelry, peasant blouses and even pouches were borrowed from my mundane clothing... or perhaps the other way around... LOL
I'd probably quite easily qualify for that What Not to Wear episode... ::) But the question is... would they require me to give up my current wardrobe in favor of something they would pick? Or perhaps a better question would be... would they try to stop me from getting online during that week in NY and ordering $5000 worth of NEW GARB?!?!?!? ROFL (Moresca, Damsel and eBay here I come!!!)

Gilligan's Island Contest..I love it. And good luck on your signatures cousin.
Nah, didn't win, but that's ok. I had a good laugh answering the phones (customers). If they got a little testy, I'd think to myself, "Hey, you're talking to Lovey here," which made me crack up, so not too much ended up bothering me!
And yesterday was Las Vegas Day, and I won a Baby Ruth playing blackjack. Life is good! ;D
OK...I'm lost, I admit.
I am known for curling up in my cloak and going to sleep anywhere...it is my favorite blanket and I use it all winter long :)
In that case, Draconnia, I suggest you stay off the I-10 corridor during rush hour.
I always wear garb on Hallowe'en, whether peasant or noble. And I wear my patchwork Silver Squirrel skirt, my shoes, and jewelry. Sometimes my Blue Flame Leather belt, too. But definitely my beloved cloak.
My cloak has now become a jacket as my denim jacket got a rather large hole in it.

Yes, cousin, that story had me chucklin' as well...
though, likely for a different reason ;D
Just sit right back and you'll hear a tale...
I've worn my garb to work on a few occasions... living in Tampa Bay area means that we have pirate and buccaneer things going on all the time... so I've worn it for pirate costume contests (since, ironically most 'danes can't tell a pirate from anyone else...) and I've worn it (parts of it) as parts of other contests for costumes...
they always say it's not fair because I already HAVE the stuff and they have to go buy it.
I've TOLD them they could remedy that by becoming rennies...
teehee.... yesterday Sous chef said that we had a huge day so I would need to be in on time "with bells on"... so, I wore my Faire bells on my chef coat! ;D

tee hee!
I wore my fairy ears to class one day to see if anyone would notice. Only one person did, but in their defence, I have a lot of hair.
I wore my pirate justacorps to a celtic music performance at a theatre saturday night.
It was great.
Too bad I couldn't wear my boots, didn't really go with everything else I was wearing.
As soon as the weather cools I wear my ren boots pretty religiously to work and everywhere else.
My kilts and boots do double duty at the both the Irish pubs and the Goth clubs, both frequented by the usual suspects...who knew?
For my twin and I's 30th bday, we're bringing our bunny fur whips!! Should be a blast...
I've recently been wearing my pirate shirts more and more in my normal day. My gf says they look pretty good just tucked into a good pair of jeans and a decent belt....although some of my friends have taken to calling me Pirate Steve off of Dodgeball...lol
Our housemate/captain is using his pirate coat as a winter coat
I were a full wool cloak in the winter i love the looks i get at wallmart
Today it was actually cold in south Florida so I plan on using my pirate coat when I go out grocery shopping today- can't wear it to work cause it would get all dirty.
I wear my chemises to sleep in.
If I had a pirate coat I'd wear it all winter!
I've worn my linen long shirt to bed before (but, I didn't have a night-cap to wear with it).
Linen long shirts are sexy ... night caps, not so much.
;D
I wish I had my son of sandlar boots already so I could have decent winter boots
Can't find my regular gloves so I'm using my gauntlets.
Pirate boots keep me nice and warm! It was cold in TX!I wear my leather pirate coat too.
I wore my cloak to a grocery store once . . . much better than some silly old winter coat!

lol, shouldn't it be dirty??? j/k I'm always complaining that my pirate clothes don't look worn/ragged enough. But they're getting there.
I would wear my coat more often but living in Tx. its never cold enough. I rarely get a chance to wear it at all at TRF.
My wife has a collection of around 50+ hats including more than a few Ren hats, big feathers and all. She will were them right or wrong when SHE wish and the rest of the world be damned. She is known as the Hat Lady by the building her office is in.
Drac
My mom is a marching band director and one year I made these giant feathered hats for her guard. We had them in the van when we went to Hobby Lobby. A sign at the register said "wear a crazy hat and get 20% off one item", or something like that. I ran outside and brought them in. The ladies at the register died laughing, thought it was great, and gave us 20% off per item for each hat I had! ;D
Well, since my garb is a pair of furry goat legs and hooves...obviously I don't wear THAT to work or school. Not that I wouldn't...cause I'm weird and like making people go WTF, but I work around food and stuff, so would hate to get anything on me fur. :) I do wear the shirt every now and then, usually layered though, since I'm not a fan of sleeveless shirts.
I am currently writing out a "garb-y wishlist" for next year, so when I've got some spare money, I can buy some more fae-like clothing, and replace my mundane wardrobe.
I'm an artist, so I kinda can "get away" with dressing like what many would consider "a weirdo" lol.
I used to have green hair, so why not?
I'm not sure if this counts - I do a lot of open mike nights where I read poetry. A big part of my work is "adventure poetry" and some of my favorite adventure pieces are pirate-themed ("The Captain's Coat", "A Tale from Devil's Tavern", "It's In Me Blood") and I wear garb, or even pieces of it, when I know I am going to do one of the pirate poems at an event. I've also done events where people know ahead of time what I'm going to read and they WANT me to come in garb.
I sometimes put my boots on with jeans, you know the ones from museum replicas limited... they're thin around the ankle, made of suede, i think... anyway, yeah, i wear them, and sometimes i wear the cuffs from museum replicas limited. when i get a good looking tunic i'm gonna wear that, and maybe a black utilikilt. i love those things.
I can't WAIT to get a utilikilt....there just so dang expensive....(I say that while looking at my pirate costume that total cost was way more then a utilikilt.....)
The shoes I bought for Ren Fest last year were from payless, and I've worn them a couple of times since. My jewelry easily works for both too. When I am writing, I have been known to wear my full length dresses because it gets me in the state of mind of that era and helps inspire me.
I wish I could wear them more often. I feel more like "me" when I wear them, which is probably why I've worn long, flowing dresses and skirts all my life.
I should put on my dress and go to the mall just for fun. It would be great to see the reactions! :o If people look at me like I am weird, I'll look at them like they are the ones who are out of place! LOL My son could wear his full length black wool robe too. (Think the Emperor from Star Wars.) He'd love to be able to do that! What a pair we would make! ;)
On Saturday, April 24, I will be appearing and teaching at Weatherford College's "Books 'N Authors 'N All That Jazz" Book Festival. The organizers, knowing of my background, have asked me to wear my piratical garb. I'll try to get some pictures. My wife and one of the other authors will also be there . . . in garb. It should, to quote my soul sister, "a hoot"!
