Title: What's new at Sherwood this year?
Post by: YardBard on February 18, 2013, 06:32:58 PM
Hey everyone!

We came to the Faire twice last year and had a blast.  My wife lost her phone and it was miraculously returned by an honest person days later!  We love that sort of spirit at SFF.  So I heard from RenShirts that there is a whole new feel this year.  What sort of cool stuff can we expect?  I'm so excited about this next weekend!  I found the camping section of this website and got some great recipe ideas for the long weekend.  I did have one question about port o let locations near the quiet camp area.  Anyone know where they are?  With a bad hip, its a long walk and I'd like to make sure they are reasonably close.

Thanks!

Oh my... Off the top of my head after two back to back weekends out there, here is what I've noticed -

- Glass blower demonstrations! And the guy is really funny and smart about what he does - I've always tried to make the one at TRF, but there is always such a crowd/other things are going on when I want to go see it. His work is beautiful as well, and it's so up close and personal that even in a large crowd, you see it all.

- New Jousters! I liked Knights of Mayhem, but I also like the new group, New Riders of the Golden Age. Both have great points to them, and should both be enjoyed. I do like the fact that New Riders have armor on their horses as well; everyone should be able to dress up, human or not!

- New pub! It's called " The Three Stags" Pub, and it's down by the jousting arena. I talk about it a little bit in answer to your other thread, but I'll elaborate a bit and say that the design is amazing, the taps seem pretty nice, and the entertainment from the start of the day to the end is amazing. Amazing all around, and in a nice area to take a rest and do some people watching.

Honestly I can't really think of anything else. Every year the vendors get better, the storyline gets flushed out more, and more people enter the family. It just keeps getting better!
