Title: Leatherwork
Post by: gmm213 on April 18, 2013, 05:18:41 PM
I was wondering if anyone can point me in the direction to do leatherwork. I want to make a hardened leather vest.

My husband and I got our leather tooling lessons from our local Tandy Leather shop (only leather supply store in Boise).  The class was 6 weeks on saturdays for 2 hrs if I remember correctly.  It really helped with overall leather construction and know-how as well as learning tooling.  We also got to know the shop owners and it's great being able to pop in and ask questions when needed for our projects!

Tandy also has an online library of classes on their website.

Additionally, youtube has a TON of videos on leatherworking.

I've taught myself quite a bit from youtube videos, books, and tutorials. And I found

leatherworker.net. A great free forum much like this one.But all about leather working.

Any specific questions? Best of luck!
