Title: Circa Paleo
Post by: LibraryPrincess on June 24, 2013, 12:21:25 AM
I just wanted to express my extreme excitement and happiness that Circa Paleo is returning to TRF.

I've heard they'll be on the Dove Meadow stage.

I sure hope so.  I always hated that trek back to Sherwood to see them.  StudMuffin gets tired...

Yay!

Was that the stage Wine and Alchemy were on?

Yep... moving up in the world.

So glad they will be back!  I miss them.

I was told earlier this month by one of the members of Saxon Moon that they were looking into performing in Circa's old stomping grounds at TRF.  Not sure if that is a done deal but I hope so!  I really enjoy their music as well.

My opinion as a photographer - it's easier to shoot around the more open stage area in Sherwood Forest, than around the more "closed-in" Dove Meadow stage.  But, it will be a shorter trek to get to their shows...

The line-up of Circa Paleo has changed, from what I have been told. Jenny's sister is no longer with them, and one other member ... any confirmations?

Jay hasn't been with them since last year.  He is living in my area now and attending TRF as a patron.  I wouldn't be surprised if he does a couple of 'sit-in' sessions with them though for fun.  :)

Doesn't look like they've updated the band line-up or "About" section on the Circa Paleo web site (http://www.circapaleo.com/index.php) since Jay left the band last Fall - only the performance calendar seems to have new info.

I haven't read any announcements on Jenny's, Kelly's, or the Circa Paleo Facebook pages about Kelly not being with the band this Summer / Fall.  We'll see...

I'm trying to recall who fed me the info...seems it was someone from OkRF, where Circa Paleo played one of the last weekends of their faire.  Meh...memory plays tricks once you get past six or seven hundred years old...

I believe you're right, Merlin. They have a new member. I don't know if he's filling in for Jay or Kelly, but I believe it's also true that Kelly won't be back. I think it's due to a full-time nanny or teaching job.

James Murphree (left-handed guitarist), and at least one other guy (maybe a drummer who's a friend of Joshua or Jenny, from Central Texas), may have joined Circa Paleo.

I'm also thrilled that Circa Paleo will be returning.  I agree with David about the challenges of photos at Dove Meadow Stage because it is often SRO around there, but we'll just have to get there early and find a good spot.  The music will be great from any angle.   :)

I am also glad they will be back, and I can answer part of that question since the new member is a friend.  Jake, who was Wine and Alchemy's drummer, will be with Circa Paleo now.

Does this mean that Joshua is no longer with the group, or will he be playing different instruments?

I have not heard anything about Joshua leaving.

The band consists of Joshua, Jenny, James Murphee (formally with Crannog), and Jake Cooper (formally with Wine and Alchemy).  It appears they have line up the 4 J's to completion, lol.  We saw them the last time they were at the Mucky Duck and just rocked the house.  So glad they will be at TRF and yes now we must get them to Sherwood.  Drink from the Horn!!!!!

The TRF folks are crafty! This was the year I was gonna make a clean break from TRF, even though I've been handed passes at a couple of events. But now my favorite band ever is back, even in a better location.... well played TRF  :-\

Huzzah! That is good news indeed!
I hope there will be dancing room at the Dove Meadow stage!

I just sent Jay an e-mail last week wanting to join and play with them at TRF, but haven't received any response yet.

Thanks Bonny. Hope something becomes of this.

Some Texas band is going to get themselves one heck of a drummer.

I'd rather join an established band, but if it doesn't happen, I'm going to  be pro-active and organize my own. I've been playing too long and have attended too many Renaissance Festivals to just continue on as a spectator.  In fact, the initial process is already underway and unfolding for that to happen.
