The Blackrock fest will be opening on July 13th, and running for 4 weekends.  Come out to Augusta, Michigan and join the fun.

I am planning on one day either Saturday July 27th or Sunday July 28th. It will be a spur of the moment choice. Looking forward to seeing everyone.

I'm gonna be there tomorrow, the 21st. I didn't plan ahead well, so the Goblin-Character I'm working on won't be ready yet. So last years' garb is in order! Watch for someone with fake claws/fangs, lots of ragged leather, and a stylized skull-mask carrying a staff with a lantern, it'll be me.
I loved the faire last year, can't wait for tomorrow!

My wife and I attended this faire on 7/21 with the kids.  This was our first time at Blackrock, and it was kind of a last minute trip.  My wife and I are having a baby in August, and we'll most likely miss the Michigan Renaissance Festival in Holly.

We were very impressed by this festival.  We loved the wooded grounds, and everyone working the faire was very, very friendly.  Saw some great acts, the Shanty Pirate and Bonny Lass show was one of our favorites (the kids are still quoting jokes from it  ;D).  We listened to Stone Clover over by one of the pub areas, they put on a great show as usual.  Great to see them they, it was a surprise since I didn't check to see who was performing before we left.

The Knights of Valour put on an AWESOME jousting demonstration.  I liked this one better than what they put at the MI Ren Fest.  The Holly show has too much fluff and fake drama and not enough action for my tastes.  The Knights of Valour was real jousting, real wood lance parts thrown through the air, it was great!  One of the best parts of the festivals.  The kids can ride the war horses between the joust shows for $5.

One things that we would have liked is some more food/snack options.  They had plenty of delicious smoked meats, hot dogs, etc, but not much in things like ice cream, which the kids would have enjoyed on the hot day.  Some might have been hiding out somewhere, but we weren't able to find it.

Overall, a very fun day.  Huzzah!

Final weekend is happening, and I'm ashamed to say I STILL haven't made it there, yet. Somehow life keeps derailing my plans. Sunday for sure I'll be there, it's my last chance and I simply cannot miss out on this faire.

Last Saturday, July 27, 2013...He Grace the Arch Duke Dom de la Bare asked Her Royal Majesty, Queen Beatrice to marry him, in the middle of the joust, and she accepted.  There will be a "Royal Wedding Weekend" next year.  Hope everyone will come and have fun.  ;D

I really enjoyed myself and the layout is really great. I am finally working on my pictures from there now and will post when they are ready to view.
