Title: Paper Parasols
Post by: Lady Renee Buchanan on September 03, 2013, 02:49:35 PM
I thought I'd come here because I know that's where the experts are, and I'll get the right answer.   ;D

Is there anything you can spray or paint on a paper parasol to make it more durable?  I don't mean to waterproof it or to make it water resistant, just to make it less likely to rip when using it at faire?

The parasol has no design on it, so not worrying about colors running, just want something to help it hold up a little longer.

Thanks!

A small amount of wax (I like beeswax because of the smell) can help but it might "warp" the dye.  In the past, I've also just glued patches on the paper parasols I really love.  You might want to try a clear coat paint as well.
