Title: 21 and older pub?
Post by: renfan on October 30, 2013, 04:21:01 PM
We have been going to the Ren Fair for many years but always with our kids.  This year we are going at least once without kids.  We were wondering if there are any pubs/taverns inside the park that are for the "must be 21" crowd?  I know that some of the shows are for "mature audiences" but was wondering if there were any pubs the same way?   I read a vague mention somewhere that the top floor of the Barbarian Inn was for the 21 and over crowd but I can not find that in print anywhere.

Thanks in advance!

Hi Renfan!  The PoW is 21 and up only inside and the upper deck of the Barbarian Inn is as well.  There is also the wine tasting events but they sell out pretty quickly.  Enjoy!

Thank you Bonny Pearl.

Is it true that PoW is also air conditioned?   I don't remember seeing this pub.  Can you tell me approximately where it is located?

It was when I've been in there, but since the door is often or always open and it is not particularly well insulated, air conditioned is a variable word.

When it is 100 degrees outside, absolutely it will feel much, much cooler; until it is packed with all the other people trying to get in the cool.

If you pop in there, try the roast beef (I think it's called a trencher).  Unless they've changed the recipe it's a solid meal, tender and tasty.

The PoW is on the first lane to the left as you enter the gate.  You will see it on the right side, next to the King's Feast Hall.  Enjoy!

The PoW is air conditioned and is usually comfortable.  The first couple weeks of TRF can be a bit warm, but it usually cools off nicely after All Hallows, so even the outdoor pubs are nice.  Of course, this is Texas so sometimes the weather is a crapshoot.    :)
