The web site says that the fireworks start at dark and that the festival closes at 8pm. Another page on the web site says that the fireworks start at 7:50pm. However, now that it is getting dark at 5:30pm, does the park actually stay open until 8pm? We've always left before dark so I'm curious if the park actually stays open after dark. I haven't seen too many lights in the trees. :)
I believe it stays upon until "full dark" so the fireworks will look their best. Then after the show, people are rather forcibly moved out.
Because of the season change and the time change, that actual time goes from 8:00pm to 6:00 pm pretty quickly!
We were there this time last year and it was open at least until 8 - it was quite cool with it being dark and most of the light coming from the shops - very cool ambiance!!
According to what went on this past Sunday, fireworks are at 7:50p and the faire closes at 8p, despite how early it gets dark now.
Also, Circa Paleo's 6p set is more of a fun in the dark party with music, fire dancing, and other fun stuff. We wiggle to keep warm! ^_^

This is the official schedule. Even if it is full dark at 6, the fireworks will not start until 7:50. The finale show starts at 6 though to keep people entertained. Shops are required to stay open until closing cannon at 8 unless they have special permission.
Since we've "lost" an hour, staying open a bit after dusk gives vendors a little more time to sell their wares. Some folks like to wander and shop a bit before leaving, even if they are not going to stay for the fireworks.
Gypsy Dance Theatre's last show of the day features fire in all of the performance numbers. They even have a guest named "Boom Da Pyro" who does some fire blowing.

We were still in the Polish pub when it was full dark last year on Black Friday. Although I couldn't tell you what the actual time was.
Dona - it was great visiting with you, Don Juan, your lovely daughter and Mackee Saturday afternoon. I stayed for the pub sing and until after the fireworks were over and it was a totally beautiful day. Thank you for your kind words of inspiration.
On a sidenote . . . a couple of the Pirates told me that there would be one or two additions to the Sea Devil next season. After adding that great new pirate ship stage, they have decided to install a gangplank that runs from the stage out into the audience. The Pirates currently jump off the stage onto the tables sometimes to sing or make a toast. The gangplank will provide additional stability for them when they get closer to the crowd. I also heard there is a possibility that the Sea Devil is going to add another covered patio area opposite of the one they put in a year or two ago.
It was great to see you as well. We went to the Sea Devil looking for Keeper and it seemed to be fairly empty. That was weird, maybe it filled up later in the day. The ship stage probably makes a great background for the pirate show; but I wonder if they gave up too much space for it. Sunday we were shopping across from the Taverna de Vino after dark, although we have been told many of the shops in the Italian and Polish areas close at 7 PM
DonaCatalina, I am sorry StudMuffin and I missed you. Due to the changes at the Sea Devil, I am not spending nearly as much time there as I used to. Which some miight say is a good thing.
We shall be back, daytripping on Black Friday. If you see us, sing out. Hope we see you.
I would so love to wander the lanes at about 2am...I've heard that the atmosphere changes radically in the late pm/early am. Too bad the Ghost Walk is no more...
The front shops stay open with lights, the back shops close. We do this the slow exiting and help traffic. We close at 8 after fireworks.

I thought I saw the Ghost Walk still advertised recently. I went on it about 3 years ago and thought it was a pretty cool after-dark adventure. I even talked with three of the people the host mentioned during the tour and they all verified that they experienced what was told to the tour crowd.
