til sherwood opens....
It canna come soon enough. Nice posting here on such a sexy amount of time left till by the way. ;)
That makes this - 68
67!!
66!
So I take it this is the official countdown thread? :) YAY! I'm already planning my adventures for Sherwood this coming season! ;D
65!
I have our Opening Weekend campsite reserved -- at the Bastrop Hampton Inn -- and the first day's tickets purchased. It will be cheaper to by our Sunday tickets on-site Sunday morning, because of the 2-for-$20 before noon special. Vacation time scheduled...yeah, that pretty much takes care of the longer term stuff.
Wish y'all would come out to the camps Merlin and hang out with us on the deck of the Procrastinator. Looking forward to seeing you and Lady Nim in February.
Thanks, KP. You never know...
We tend to wear down by mid-afternoon, mainly because we don't stop and sit enough! That, and the fact that we aren't so oung anymore... With Nimue still recovering from a broken foot at the LAST faire we went to, I can't safely predict anything. May have to hire a rickshaw for the day!

That sounds like a plan, Merlin. Then maybe you could find a spot in the center of faire, and just people watch for a while. I do that a lot, but then I'm there every weekend.
Nice thing about Sherwood, there plenty of places to just sit and watch the day pass by.
I recommend a nap around 11. I know of a nice shaded camp site just outside the camp ground gate. Complete with hammocks.
*Nudge Hint Wink Prod*
Nap at 11?!? Hell's bells! The gates open at 10! I don't tire quite that easily! ;D
I've seen the spot that clan p hath claimed. And I must say, dear Merlin, it tis a tough thing to immagine denying a nap in one of their most comely of hammocks, tired or not.

im buying my friends of faire pass this week. even though i dont plan on camping since i dont tent camp and my rv is to big for the campgrounds.havent been to a gathering yet and this weekend is to cold and i think im out of town during januarys.
MJ, you might check in with Mike Pullen (mpullen on here). They used to allow for large RVs in the main parking. I think they changed that, but there may be some other place designated.

Less than a month to go...
But only 4 more till Jan gathering!
Very true. Wish I could spend the whole weekend out there, but I have to catch a flight to Cali on Sunday. But I'll be there Saturday to finish up our site for opening weekend.
Time is short. I'd better start scrubbing up my knickers...
24 and counting...
12 days, 2 hours, and 55 minutes, if anyone is interested
Huh? What? Sorry, busy getting ready for trip to Sherwood.
12 DAYS!!!??? Gotta hurry!!!!
Folks, you will love the new feast hall next to The Castle. It's huge. New archery range above the Mud Pit. More seats for the Washing Well Wenches.
If I have time, I'll come out in the Mule and say hello to folks in the parking lot before gate opening.
Mike! Quit spoiling the surprises! ;D Really looking forward to seeing the changes this year!
11 days, 2 hours, 42 minutes....
I'm going to assume that everyone is busy getting ready for opening weekend and/or the Super Bowl.
6 days left!
Good assumption (o:
I'm all ready. My pop-up has been there since last gathering. I finished sewing my garb yesterday. All I have to do is weather out the week and I'll be on my way friday after work!!!!!!!!! Can't wait!!!!!
We are this close to opening weekend ---->||<------
As we used to say in the Navy, we are single digit midgets.
I'll try and stop out in the parking lot before the gate opens Saturday.
For those camping, lookout for the crazy old guy on a Mule.
The kind of mule with four wheels, not for legs. ;)
An old man on four legged mule would be something to look out for also (o:
Getting really close, but alias.....................we need some help in the weather dept. Wizards and such need to dig deep into their bag of spells and attempt to improve the current forecast. A few prayers (to whom ever you pray to) could only help also.
The low for Friday night looks to be in the mid to high 20's.
The high for Saturday looks to be in the mid 40's with 35% scattered showers.
The low for Saturday night is better in the high 30's.
Sunday is looking good, high in the upper 50's and sunny with a low on Sunday night back in the upper 20's.
Brrr!
I checked two different weather sites and both have Friday night over freezing for a low and Saturday high 60, no rain. Still cold at night but at least we'll have better weather for opening day.
I'm going to splurge and get that propane heater I've been putting off getting...
Aint no wizard gonna save ya. I recommend killing a bear and wrapping yerself in its innards for warmth. Or come and sit aboard the Procrastinator. I foresee multiple fire pits this weekend.
Don't be blaming the wizards! You might just end up a toad!
Is it too late to sacrifice a virgin for heat?
I'm afraid, Dr Jack, that virgins--like unicorns--are a myth... ::)
What's the old saying?
Sacrifice a virgin - Stay warm for a day.
Enslave a virgin - Stay warm for a life time.
Or something along those lines (o:

Then what's the other term, indentured servant?
Wife?
Holy cow, I'm pee-my-pants excited!!! Can't wait to get on the road in an hour!!!
Just completed our 8+ hour journey to Bastrop. It is no longer 69 days...it is less than 19 hours!
Gates open in 11 hours. The Patrons are rolling into the campgrounds, The cast is fine tuned. The vendors are ready to meet your needs. We are ready, are you?
Was a great weekend! It was nice to meet you, KiltedPrivateer! Looking forward to a fun filled two months.
It was very nice to meet you as well Crimson.
We had a great weekend. It was surprising to find the snow around our tents upon arrival on Friday morning.
Looking forward to seeing everyone throughout the season.
Somehow I can never run into Merlin. Our orbits never seem to cross. Maybe next year.
KP, seems to be the case. I think the ONLY time I've spoken to you was at Castleton about 4 years ago... We didn't get to do and see everything we had intended. We left Sunday morning for home because of the dire weather warnings, and they didn't develop. Of course, had we stayed, it WOULD have, and Nim and I would be out looking for work...
Getting ready for weekend 2. I have my pirate boots on under my jeans. Kinda feel like Clark Kent with the S on under his suit.
That's funny. I'm almost wore mine today. Guess I'll have to do that next week (o:
This past weekend was just amazing. Great crowds, great weather, great vendors! Everything was just magical ;D
Great to finally meet you and Alex, Miss Scarlet (o:
