A month or so ago, when I was attending the NorCal Pirate Fest, a fellow playtron hailed me and, somehow recognizing a fellow costumer, asked me if I wanted to see the "costumer's handshake". He proceded to show it to me, and it's pretty clever! I wonder how many of you on this forum can describe it to the rest of us. Go for it! ;)
That's the one where you make the "snipping scissors" motion with the index and middle fingers of the right hand while shaking, correct? What do I win? ;D
Randal
or is it the one where as you shake hands you turn their wrist upward so you can check their seams???
Well...Hmmm... That is a good one, but not what I was thinking of, Randal. The trick with the seams is good. too! The handshake I was shown went like this: Reach out with your right hand for a normal handshake, while saying the usual "Nice to meet you, etc..." Then, with your left hand, grasp the fabric of the other's garb (long sleeves work best for this) and say something along the lines of this: " What beautiful fabric, where did you get it? Is it silk? Did you use a pattern? Is is hand sewn? Where did you get the buttons?" etc... It works best if you sort of gabble these questions with a lot of enthusiasm and admiration. I thought it was funny! ;D I hope some of the rest of you are amused, too!

~Giggles like a madman... mainly because he has done this exact handshake, with those exact words~
Whoops, I've done that. Not often, and usually only to people I know, but I've done that.
yep, shaking and petting is how I learned the costumers' handshake. I did it this past weekend too!
