Title: Future Projects...What's on your agenda?
Post by: Lady Kathleen of Olmsted on August 29, 2014, 06:26:19 PM
The Renaissance Festival Season is wrapping up for many and still going on for some. I was wondering what was in order for Future Projects to keep you busy over the Winter months. It's going to be a long cold one here in Minnesota. I plan to keep busy.

I have several projects on the agenda. I have fabric I need to use up that I bought years ago.

An 18th Century gown inspired from the film..THE DUCHESS. I have this lovely wine colored Taffeta that would be perfect for this. I will be making the Undergarments to go with this.

The Blackbeard Pirate Coat from PoTC 4. I have the replica Pirate hat that is lovely and well made. I plan to make the coat in time for the Pirate get together on New Year's Eve.

Last, but not least, another new Elizabethan Gown for the 2015 Renaissance Festival season. I have lost close to 60 pounds now with Weight Watchers and have been below my new goal for 2 months now. I have the fabrics and trims.

What are you going to keep busy with in the coming months? Please share your ideas.

I think I want to try a turned bodice, I really like the edges on the double I just finished.. I'm going to wait a bit since I'm also on a weight loss journey (25 of 80 down) and just took in my bound bodice in as much as I think it will let me. Still wrapping my head around turning something inside out that has boning.

1.  Norse Apron Dress out of black wool gauze (hopefully done on Sunday!)
2. Edwardian evening gown in red silk and blue chiffon (not for Renn Faire, obviously, but it's a future project!)
3.  This gown:

4. A Luke Skywalker outfit for oldest nephew for Halloween
5. A pumpkin outfit for middle nephew
6.  Waffling between Jabba the Hutt and Yoda for youngest nephew - he's two and doesn't quite get why we are making him wear funny outfits yet
7.  The pearled forepart and mid 16th century gown out of damask with pink sleeves project
8.  A Regency era court gown

That's it until November, I think....

On my agenda:

1. Setting up my new sewing room (moved at the end of July!). It's an 11 ft x 20 ft room in the basement! Huge!

2. Baptismal gown for my newest niece. I created an heirloom gown for each of my sisters who've had girls. The sister who's getting this one had three boys, and despaired of ever having a girl. Hello, surprise baby! Each gown is made of voile, and the newest will have an overlay made of my sister's stole from her wedding (fine net with crystal beading). I am looking forward to this project!

3. New sleeves for my red dress. Heck, they will probably match my black dress, too!

4. Fix my farthingale hoops - I am not liking the connectors I have, so I am going to sew the ends together again. The ends keep popping out of the connectors.

i think that should hold me for a bit!

1: get out of funk! I've had multiple projects mostly finished, and a couple cut out, but I just can't get the inspiration to do any real sewing lately. I've got a shirt for myself cut out, being the first new piece of garb for myself in three years, and a faire in two days, but the cut pieces have been sitting on the shelf for a month now... oh, and I guess post pictures of the last year's worth of finished projects.
2: (most appropriately) finish shirt
3: middles Elizabethan doublet for myself. (I've got the fabric and buttons for that all ready to go too, and already made sleeves for it)
4: finish short cape for my wife
5: new cape for me
6: cloaks for both kids (I found a stack of heavy wool blankets at the thrift store for $3-4 each)
7: breeches for me
8: 2 skirts for Amara to match bodice made over summer (last project done)
9: ghillies for Amara
10: attempt making boots for me
11: kind of sewing, kind of crafting, but a new quiver for Amara

Oh, and I've got to design and organize a sewing project and class for 30 Brownies in November.
