Allright everyone! It's time for the "Dictatress" to get the lists going for the Clan McLotofus camp. I believe our camp cook has proclaimed that the kitchen will be open for at least 3 weekends- Opening, Halloween, and Thanksgiving. For the rest of the season, I'm sure you will still be able to locate some McLotofus, just not in record numbers. :P
If you will be camping with McLotofus for ANY of those 3 weekends, please sign in here. We need to know what kind of space and organization we'll need. Also, please remember that our camp is run on donations from those who stay with us. If you're coming to eat, drink, or warm yourself by the family fire, please pitch something into the jar for the camp cook. We do NOT accept bits of string as payment.... LOL. We are, though, willing to negotiate for virgins...
Also, if you're planning on camping with McLotofus for any other weekend, please let us know, that way we can have some sort of something set up.

Also, please note that we will be holding our Annual Clan McLotofus Thanksgiving Dinner on Turkey Day at around 7pm. I'll post a thread for that later :P

While I wont be actually camping, I plan to come and visit the camp on Halloween weekend and Thanksgiving weekend. I'm not sure if that is helpful information for you or not.
I shall be there on All Hallow's Eve and Thanksgiving, most definitely. Maybe more.
Put me down for all three, as its the plan but I don't know what will change between now and then.

I will be there All Hallow's Eve and I will be bringing my best friend.. We will be flying in Thursday so I will be there all weekend, yay! I was told by Lady Jessica that we all will be camping in McLotofus, so see you guys there!
As I will be at TRF every weekend.. I may have to try and schedule a venture out to the playtrons campground for a visit with my lovely wife, The Lady Amalphia, by my side.
I'll be out all three of those weekends :)
Please remember to post if you'll be looking for McLotofus on any other weekends besides the big three. The kitchen may not be open, but we can still camp together.
All Hallow's Eve is the only one set in stone for me right now.
you can more than likely count me in for those weekends as well...along with me will probably be my buddy Kris, some family, and the virgin.
Even though I'll have the trailer setup in the Drunken Gnome area (3A-4B) for my four weekends, I believe the Gnomes will only be attending enmasse for a couple of the weekends. For the non-Gnome mass gatherings, I'll wander over to McLotofus to say hello to all the great folks I know there. And for Thanksgiving to bring some game hens for munching.
I set up the trailer in that area since it is fairly flat. Since I'm not the greatest at backing a trailer into a tight spot, this area is the best for me.
My Son has stated he will join me for my four weekends and my Daughter (and new Grandson) may also attend for a couple of weekends, so I hope to introduce them to all the great folks.
Halloween and Thanksgiving Weekends for me as for as camping.

No, not yet, I'll be posting that after Opening Weekend, that way people will have a better idea of what their schedules and funds will allow. I don't know if I'm gonna be fooling around with planning AND cooking, I may cheat this year again and bring the Luby's stuffing. Not too terribly bad for non-homemade.
Well definitely count us in on opening , halloween & closing weekend. Let me know what I need to bring for the turkey day festivities and I will surely do . Looks like we will be bringing the pop up dont know about the generator though, so save us a space, I just love having my bathroom available, cuz the drunk traps get me everytime . So count myself, Michael and maybe our son, dont worry he will be 15 by then and he is 6'4 so no baby there, and he is well mannered, our little minion :D
FYI, I am having a cake made with the large Mclotofus logo on it for opening weekend, how many should I make it for and can someone email me the logo again, new computer .
Lady Rochelle, I hope that you realize that you just volunteered yourself to let me use your potty at all hours LOL. We're currently trying to redesign the McLotofus logo, so it may be a couple of weeks before I can get you something. We'll be happy to have you, and I'll add you to the roster...

You can get out of the car, just have Bacardi spread some moth balls out over the camp area.. While they won't drive all the snakes away, it'll keep a majority of them away because they cannot stand the smell/taste of the air, it blocks the scent of their prey ;)

I plan on heading up there Thursday evening after the traffic settles. Either they'll let me in and I'll be ready for breakfast Friday morning or MPullen gets harrassed all night and will force them to open on Thursdays for the rest of the season.....muwahhahaha

The great thing about finding this community of people is that I don't feel so 'weird' now. Before finding this place, I thought I was the only one who got excited about RenFest 9 months before it actually came around, now I see I'm not the only one!

We might like to either camp near or visit McLotofus, if no one minds. Sounds fun. We will be early on Friday to set up on opening weekend. We've been pondering camping near the "quickie mart" like last year, but I was wondering if your group has many younger kids? My daughter would love to have some kids her age to hang out with. She is 5. It would be great if she didn't have to walk far from camp to play.
Clan McLotofus is a prolific bunch, there will be plenty of children on the first weekend...

so i broke down and bought (again) a new air mattress since my old one got misplaced........damn air mattress gnomes....
Okay folks, we're getting down to the wire. I estimate 15-20 people camping with McLotofus opening weekend. That's the amount of groceries I'm going to buy, unless we have some more people step up and announce their intention to camp with us by Wednesday. I don't want to leave anybody hungry, but groceries have gotten expensive this year. If you want to join us in camp please step forward and let us know so we can have enough supplies.

Hey Miss Blue (or Mrs, or Ms, I don't mean to offend :)
I wanted to make a slight adjustment to my plans. As it turns out, I will be visiting the Ren Fest earlier on All Hallow's Eve as well as the Pirate Weekend(though I won't be camping on Hallow's Eve). I thought I'd come by on Hallow's eve and introduce myself, since you and most everyone else will be there that weekend. That, hopefully, will eliminate any awkwardness when I bring my friends around the weekend following, as I can just be like, "Yeah, it's cool, I know the McLotofus people" and impress them. ::)
So yeah, I hope that's alright. I'll be the skinny white chick dressed in an (obviously) homemade gypsy costume, just so you know.
Is there an optimum time I could come around and meet you guys? Is there always someone hanging around the campsite or do you guys revel in the festivities during the day and patrol in the evening?

If you go through the workers entrance by day, do your work, and leave through the same gate, then just drive around to the camping entrance and pay the ten pounds to camp, you should be golden. Just be sure to trade out the parking tags accordingly so they don't get wise.

I'll take this one. The best time to find us would be right after faire unless you get there early enough to come out before faire and walk in with all of us. Usually there's some one there as we have ppl that go in late, others that come back out for lunch and some that start cooking before faire ends and some that get overheated and have to go back out to sit a spell. Hope that helps!

I am actually kinda worried about this being an issue.
Well, I'll show up and set up our space, and hopefully we can get along ok with Safe Haven. If not, then I don't know what to tell you. I won't be picking a fight or anything- its just un-REN-like. I'm sure we can all get along.

Bonnie, just do what I do...get up early enough to join them at camp for breakfast and park on the campground side so you can hang with the group after faire until the traffic dies down.
Other that some overly loud music on the PA system, we seemed to get along without problems last season. (We don't have a PA system....grin)

If you're coming in Saturday morning then you won't have to pay for camping. Just follow the road in toward the parking lanes, but instead of going down the road between the lanes, turn to the right and head for the camp ground. The guys directing traffic generally won't say anything or try to stop you.

It's nothing to worry about. Last year over Closing Weekend, we all camped right next door to Safe Haven with no problems. Hell, we even invited them to come over and partake of Thanksgiving dinner with us. Not once did I see any one of our group heading over there. If someone had, it's likely that we would have dealt with the problem child most expediently.
In short, you're perfectly safe and secure. We know what Safe Haven is and approve and defend its intentions. Think of McLotofus as the older, armed brother to Safe Haven. We may be loud, raucous, and oftentimes inebriated, but we'll take care of you guys to the best of our considerable abilities.

If you look at the list for opening weekend, I can guesstimate 20-25 people, I fed nearly 40!
I'm glad eveyone showed up and hopefully had a good time, but it was entirely serendipitous that I had enough food to feed everyone.
There is no charge at our table, and we want everyone to enjoy, but I've got to know your coming to be sure and have enough food.

I am a shop-aholic... and my two younger kids looooove the pretty things available for purchase... we always wind up spending at least a few hundred more than the cost of tickets... lol... and hubby said no-go (he's a frugal budget oriented man... and I love him for it, even when he tells me no)... we have our budget for shopping on closing weekend... and he agreed to all three days of faire that weekend... but he said camping yes... faire, probably not...

I want everyone to know that we are going to be a VERY large group for Halloween weekend. In order to fit everyone in we are asking that unless your trailer has to be connected to your truck please park across in the parking lanes and carry your things over to the campgrounds.
We drive a mini-van... and shall park our carriage across the way... however, is it ok to temporarily park closer to unload? That stuff gets heavy... lol

We will all most likely have bellies full of turkey legs, and will not mooch off the products of the McLotofus fire(unless it is asked or demanded of us to do so). I just wanted to make it clear that it won't be just me when I saunter over, just so that no one freaks out. So again, don't worry about including my party in any headcounts, including Pirate Weekend when I will actually be camping, not with the McLotofus by definition, but nearby for protection.

Trying to get a definite out of my family is near impossible. We would like to camp near McLotofus for Halloween weekend, but last weekend we arrived late and could find little space left. Not knowing anyone really well, we didn't want to intrude or encroach on any borders. Plus, I think "the man" is a bit claustrophobic. So, though it seems definite we are coming, we are still a big MAYBE on location. If we do, we would have the same one renlet as before. We will be bringing our own food/booze, and would be happy to share anything we have.

DS & Blue - our tent is 14x10 if that helps in the planning phase. Total head count 3.

First off, I apologize for being so wishy-washy on our plans. I don't mean to seem flakey. Our family has discussed it and finally came to an agreement. If you would be so gracious as to have us, we would like to try camping WITH you on Halloween weekend. We would really love the opportunity to get to know more of you better.
Please let me know if there will be enough space and if this would be alright. We've never camped with a group before. We don't want to impose and would hate to put anyone out. Like I said before, we have our own food/drink, but Samedi never turns down food. If there is any way we can help out to earn our keep, please ask.
It would be me, my mother, my five year old daughter and her father in one 10'x10'ish tent arriving Friday around 5 or 6 o'clock in the evening and leaving Sunday around noon.

Apparently I screwed up my request for time off. I thought All Hallow's Eve Weekend was the weekend that was actually Pirates Adventure, so I won't be able to make it until the weekend of the 1st.. :'(
Maybe I can beg my boss tonight and see if I can have that weekend off also.

I think ours is 16x10... but I cannot find the label that came with the original bag and I can't seem to find it online... ??? Our pup tents are 6x5, but we will not be bringing them all hallows... for closing weekend we will be bringing at least two of the 6x5 tents... more info for certain closer to that date.
We also have a 10x10? screen house, but do not plan on bringing unless needed.
I think our tent is around 15x10 we also have a small shower enclosure that will be right behind our tent.
Don't know about the rest of McShuggenah but I have a 13x10. I'll try to find out about the rest...

I put together 10 goodie bags....and I bought 6 'make your own mask' kits....if more than 6 kiddo's are in attendance *PLEASE* let me know before Friday...I don't want to leave anyone out. I can dash to Target and get more mask kits.
I have a quick question about the camp kitchen. Is it open Fri and Sat nights or just Sat?
I'll be serving supper on Friday Saturday and possibly Sunday. I'll serve Breakfast on Saturday and Sunday, possibly a little Friday maybe a little Monday. If I'm in camp and set up, people don't go hungry.

That might be something to look into Trinn. I got the stuff for smores ;D I also got some glow sticks for the kids too. With all we are bringing, we should be able to keep the little buggers all sugared up, busy and happy ;D

Ok, been really busy this weekend, but got the tents out and ours is a 12x14 and the one my friends and Jessica's friend will be using will both be 7x7. Also, this Saturday is Sir Edward's birthday and I've ordered a cake from Brookshire Brothers in Magnolia and will pick it up some time on Saturday for the camp that night. I would like to try and plan a wenching for him at camp that night. It's sometimes a good thing he doesn't do computers! lol
My bday is this week too and we're celebrating it this weekend... I plan to make the rounds to all the camping friends between Fri and Sat night.
I'm not sure what we're getting in on Friday night but it'll be late so if I'm not at McLotofUs when you come around Red, ya better make a second around on Saturday! :)
You know I'd LOVE to hang with you Meg!! But no promises on when or where I'll be on any particular night.... I have Rumy to go around with too and lots of other friends I've promised to visit at some point... But if it is in my power to visit McLotofus both nights, then I will certainly be there!!

Eh, don't know, wasn't at the first RenDezvous. We have roughly 65 ppl camping with us, and that's only what we know of from RF. There are also some that are known that didn't sign up, a couple of non-RF members, and McShuggenah. It's gonna be one HUGE party.
See, I figured... 10 tents back, all measuring somewhere between 10 and 20 ft... better to be safe then sorry.
No worries, I was just thinking that the McLotofus renvasion is as big as or bigger than the first rendevious... pretty impressive when you think on it

(I was in charge of the marking of the rendevious land grab... that's why I am curious. I marked off 2 1/2 rows wide and about 50 yards deep and had extra room when all was done. I can't wait to see how the two will compare.)

In order to be ready for the move, we will be working our butts off packing this weekend. Everyone that isn't going to be there for closing, pleeeeease re-consider and go that weekend too!!! :D I wont be able to meet all of you that are only going for all hallows, but I'll be there in spirit! (LOL or at least wishing I was there instead of packing!)
On the upside, I will have a whole room dedicated to my sewing space... more room to practice my garb-making skills! ;)
I checked the list in the first post and noticed that I'm not in that list, but I think I'm counted in the # of tents/people for this weekend... so to all who handle that.. I am sorry!! I'd much rather be there than here working... hehe.

Blue!! I think I'm getting in 3 hours under the deadline... I just got referred to you all by Teach from the TRF Camping thread this morning.
6 of us plan on camping for the first time at the TRF (only 1 tent), probably 2 of us Friday, and then all 6 on Sat... is there still room in your area? if not, we'll gladly find a spot where we can and just mozy on over and say hello with some rum and ale.

Although it looked as if we would not be able to make faire at all this year, it looks as though we will indeed be there, although not for the weekends we would like, but what the hey... faire is faire and we NEED THIS BADLY!
I am working hard trying to get costuming ready, as the Ice Queen Faerie is getting an upgrade.
We will be attending Pirate weekend, which is the first weekend of November right after Halloween, (not my pick but work schedual and finances as well as Ike have dictated this year's faire for us.)
And we do plan on Thanksgiving Celtic Christmas weekend as well.
Pirate weekend (not this weekend but the following)
will be myself, JP the Yard Troll, Lightlord the Flaming Bonsia aka Jack Frost, and the little Guardian Knight JP III.
My brother, possibly mother, and friends are also supposed to be camping this year for the first time ever this weekend.

Teach, at this point I can not promise that. I am currently relocated to a VERY SMALL apartment in League City, as I was displaced by Hurricane Ike. My home is in San Leon.
I wasn't even sure I would be able to make it to faire this year. I lost one of my ren garb costumes today trying to save it. It fell apart in shreds. Material rotted. I have no idea what all was in that water but it was nasty stuff. The rod all my costumes and garb was hanging on FELL during the storm... I don't have much costuming left, but the Ice Queen Faerie I did last year is intact (I hope!) I get it back from the dry cleaners tomorrow, hopfully in one piece.
All I can say is I'll try. I will definately try.

Hubby and I will be arriving Friday around 10:30-11:00 (depending on what kind of time we make after dropping the kiddies off at school -- NO KIDS for us this weekend so we can see Iris and Rose as often as we want YAY!). Another couple will be joining us (one of whom is a Faire Virgin) sometime between 10 and midnight. That's 1 "conjoined twin" tent, 1 single tent, 1 shower tent and a EZup.
Although earlier posts have Guinny and her brood listed as camping, a recent e-mail from her reports them attending but NOT camping. I also saw somewhere that Sir Trent , Lady Ann and Dillon might be camping. I also see now Taarna et al. Anyone else? What time will you be arriving? We need to appoint a Landgrabber... and I can't be there early enough to volunteer...

On the bright side I came up with a new loki recipe that is PURE HEAVEN! Perhaps if I drink enough it will drown out her complaining about the constant drumming. LOL she just doesn't understand...
I have also discovered a new rum, just in time for pirate weekend... it's called Railean Reserve XO, and it's is micro distilled right in San Leon, Texas. If you haven't tried this rum before, I urge you to try it... It is OUTSTANDING!
I just wanted to say it was absolutely loving meeting all of you at the McLotofus camp on Friday evening. Sadly I never made it by on Saturday night due to tons of friends in town from Austin wanting to go other places. Teach and Lady Trinn, your loki's ROCK!!!! and thanks for letting me "try" a few... Blue, you have an absolutely LOVELY voice! Zaubon, your cooking is wonderous as always! DS, thanks for the lending of your jacket "old roomie"! And everyone else, it was great meeting you for the first time or seeing you again. We will definetely be stopping by on future weekends seeing as we're there every weekend anyhow!
Made it safely into Denton with the good Capn' in my care, last night around ten or so. Taking her to the airport in a few hours to head back to TN! Had an incredible time this weekend and wishing that I could only come down sooner. It was so nice to meet so many new people, and sorry if I didn't catch you! Shooting for Highland Fling, I'm hoping, and then Celtic Christmas after that. :-*

Sounds good! I will talk to the hubster and see what we can do. I also mentioned to Blue in the Pirate thread that we might be able to organize something for all of us camping together. While I don't think it will be an 'official' McLotofus gathering *looking towards Blue the camp empress to confirm or deny* maybe those of us who will be there can at least all get together.
That being said, we will most likely be without the yummy food Zaubon so lovingly coordinates and prepares for us...sigh... but we can figure something out.
I'll be out, but playing land-grabber and camp mommy to another group. If there will be a McLotofus group out there, I will try not to land grab on toes.

Just look for a big, funny looking goatee and you've got me. Alternative; look for a big gray land ship(still looking for cannons to fit the portals) with plenty of markings on the rear glass! Pink and green ribbon should be put out shortly after I've dropped anchor, as well. Row 8-10ish.

We will for sure need a fire pit and firewood. We have been looking for a pit, but haven't seen any around at the stores. Any suggestions on where to get one? If someone is planning to bring a pit that would be awesome, but we will continue to search for one to have as an extra.

Cabela's,Bass Pro Shops and I think I've seen them at Academy also. Some ace hardware's carry them. I don't know about home depot, or lowes But they might.

We are packed and ready to leave in the morning. We are bringing cinder blocks (taking a cue from DS) upon which to situate our fire ring. We are planning on arriving around 10:30-11:00am and will search out Maclaren btwn rows 8-9. If we get there first, Mac, we're in a white pickup towing a small red metal and wood frame trailer. I have my famous chili ready to go with whatever Dogs/Burgers are around Friday night!!!

I have been meaning to get on here and express my undying thanks to all of the McLotofus crew that were so *incredibly* helpful and welcoming to myself and my friends on All Hallow's Even weekend!! ;D
We received help in setting up our tents and felt entirely comfortable and safe amongst you all!
We had a wonderful time, and if it wasn't for some obnoxious and irresponsible drunkards behind the McLotofus grounds on Saturday night, we would have slept peacefully amongst the company of friends! However, awakening to the sound of guttural vomit at 5 in the morning caused a bit of grumpiness in the tent. When we heard a car start up and saw the lights shine into our tent, I must admit, we were a bit concerned that we were about to be flattened by a drunkard in a vehicle. If anyone towards the back of the group was awakened by that, please be assured it was not us!
Also, I must apologize that we were not as openly social as we should have been... as there were some TRF virgins in the group (one was flogged as an introduction on Friday night - to much of my amuzement, but not so much to his fiance!), and some of us are quite shy to begin with. I hope to return next year, more prepared and knowing what to expect, and hopefully we can be a more social and helpful group within McLotofus.
Again, many many MANY thanks from all of us, and to anyone thinking of camping with McLotofus - you shall not be disappointed. This is a fantastic group of people, and some of the most friendly people I have ever had the pleasure to meet.

Mine and my husbands tent was right next to yours. We were indeed awoken by the same thing. They were so close to us that I was worried the a*@hole was going to get vomit on our tent. Thankfully he did not. I too was concerned that he would run us over, so I got up and watch them out our window while they were backing up and leaving. Did you see the mess they left! It was awful. Several cars the next morning ran over glass bottles.

DS won't be coming out this weekend, but replace him with Zardoz. I have Zardoz's tent and will be bringing it with me. My tent is 15x10, but I will be up there somewhere 1-2 on friday to put it up and fix up the kitchen.

No threats needed just yet. I'll set a tarp out for ya
Not to worry- Maclaren checked with the guard shack, and we are allowed to stake out a space, just not rope it off. That should save our area pretty well. We'll need for those to get there early to sort of pay attention to the borders, making sure to let others that try to come in know that this space is saved. A better way to preserve our boundaries throughout the weekend is to make sure that we have a solid tent border with a common area in the middle, and cars parked in front to block ppl that want to try and drive through the camp.
A little extra effort, but its worth it.
Just a reminder the Muffin and I leave in 2 weeks for closing weekend... ;D

I'll be camping with Element of Air and Sir Jerrick Reyfe for Highland Fling but I'll be over at McLotofUs quite often, and to help with dinner if any is needed.
Looks like I won't be pulling into faire until 11 or 12 Friday night. :-\ So I probably won't see everyone until Sat. morning.

Blue darling what's on the menu for this weekend? KP and I need to know what we should bring. Are we all on our own for dinners, should we bring money for a McLotofus food pool, or can we donate tasty edibles? Since Zaubon will be out of sorts for this weekend, I'm assuming anyway since he just got back from the hospital, I can donate my time to be camp cook or assist with camp cooking if needed. Just tell me where you want me and what we need to bring.
BTW, I was tossing around the idea of making Shepard's Pie for Friday night dinner, your thoughts?
You'll have to talk to Aiacha, as I am not the domesticated sort. Long story short?- I DON'T COOK.

I'm trying to go very light on the prep work this weekend, i.e., I'm making the chili tonight, and any cutting of ingredients will get done tomorrow. I may pick up one more thing, a Coleman Coffee Maker today (I have been looking at them for a while now) for coffee since the percolator I have is a piece of crapola. I will leave by sunday afternoon, so sunday dinner will have to be on your own. If you want to add to this, please feel free, too much is better than not enough!

forecast i read this morning showed a low of 33 Saturday.... forecasted temp just keeps dropping....
We'll bring some eggs to the party for breakfast along with some biscuits we can make in our dutch oven.
I can also do some cornbread to go with the chili we can make in the dutch oven as well.
i almost forgot, i'm also bringing the "virgin" for those that have met her.
Well.. I have spent most of the last 20 or so hours with some kind of respiratory crap I think my wife gave me; sore throat, running nose & sinuses, fever, and coughing up stuff etc.. :P
Unless I get worse, I'm still coming to the camp Sat. morning, I have my tickets for both days. But I think camping in those temps might not be a good idea for me.
Zardoz get plenty of rest! Oh and I'll be sure to keep at least 5ft away from you so I don't catch that bug! :D
I just got the armadillo egg bug again....jalapeño stuffed with cheese, wrapped with bacon, breaded and fried......damn!! I'll bring 'em for Friday night. They'll get your warmth up for sure!!
Lady Kitara and Myself have come down with the same bug... Looks like we won't be able to camp this weekend after all. We will still try to make it out to faire Saturday so that our daughter can play with the faeries.
That's a shame! Well, remember, if you stay for the fireworks, come hang out at the campsite while the traffic dies down :)

Oh no, I'm not doing it by scratch. Everything is pre-prepared or out of a package for me. Jimmy Dean makes these scramblers, where everything is cut up and ready to go. It won't be as good as yours, but it'll be edible. Heck, even the chili's already made.

I just want to thank everyone who donated to the "Replace the EZUp" fund again. It is very, very appreciated. Hopefully I'll be able to replace it before New Years to use in the backyard.
The cold weather notwithstanding, I think the weekend still went well and I did still have a good time. Very glad to have weather to wear my pirate coat in!

You might check Academy. I saw one on sale there for like $49.00 not too long ago. They may still have them on sale since this isn't peak season for them.

Ok, just got off the phone with TRF. They are stating that the campgrounds are not even OPENING until 5pm on Thursday. I can understand this, but I don't have to be happy LOL. I'm still heading up to faire on Wednesday night- Lishy and I can find things to do on the road if they can't or won't let us in. Maybe we'll go for a walk on the railroad tracks LOL...

We are doing the family thing here around 2ish and will be leaving sometime after that. I Lurves both my new in-laws and my fairemily and so i want to make the most of time with both. I have no idea exactly when we will be on our way but we will text Lady Ann or Capt Killian when we head out.
