i picked up a 500 piece puzzle that was free at a yard sale last month..since then my daughter and i have done 3 puzzles and i am now working on a 1200 piece one. i am getting them used at a flea market.
i think i am addicted! anyone else??
Yes, I think you're addicted too. :D
Every Christmas my father and i would give each other jigsaw puzzles for presents. The last one i gave him a couple years back was a huge puzzle with duplicate images that took forever to do. He said someday he is going to get even with me and give it back to me. LOL ! We have not given each otherpuzzles the last few years, you can't find them in stores like you use to.
They are fun to make though !
I like tp put puzzles together and then when I`am all done I just sit back and look at them and alll the work that it took to do them. I enjoy them and it is very relaxing I like to put them together on table sitting by the fire at my house.
I can't say I'm a great fan, but grew up with them because my dad enjoys them. And for mind breaks from work I occasionally visit www.jigzone.com. Careful puzzle lovers. Can become addicting. Especially since you can do the same puzzle with different piece sizes and shapes.
I'm such a super huge puzzle freak!! I have a faery 1000 piece one that I put together...waiting to find a frame and make it permanent! But alas...the kitty ate quite a few pieces of the last one that I tried to put together....so I have to figure out something!!
90% of the art in my house is puzzles that I have glued together and framed. I haven't been able to do them recently because of having no space, but I've got a whole box full waiting for after the next move so I can add them to the art collection.
You want to meet a REAL puzzle nut, you should get to know my mother. She has (I'm not kidding) a 10,000 piece puzzle (completely put together) of a landscape which includes the Tower of Babel and the Hanging Gardens of Babylon. I think it's like 6ft x 10ft or something like that. She got it all the way together and found out that it's missing ONE piece. So she wrote the company... the puzzle has been out of print for over 10 years and the pieces are no longer available, so they actually sent her a NEW, different 10,000 piece puzzle to put together to make up for the "inconvenience". She was ecstatic!
I couldn't imagine putting a puzzle together of that size and to my surprise the last piece is missing! WOW! But atleast they made a good offer to her.
WOW!!!!!!!!! 10,000 pieces...and two times!! NOT that is a puzzle maniac!

I like to think that they are nice, although it's probably all dependent on taste. The four large ones from my living room are a series by Josephine Wall. See "Daughter of the Deep", "Spirit of Winter" and "Three Graces" on this site for a taste of the style: http://www.wallboundfineart.com/cgi-bin/shop/search.cgi?category=puzzles
The two big ones from the kitchen are of a similar "goddess portrait" sort of style, but I can't remember the artist.
My favorite, from the hallway, is a big knotwork thing with frogs on it. And then there are a few puzzles that are dragons and wizards and the like.
I like putting together the really awesome puzzles and then hanging them because the art is beautiful AND I get a sense that I put something into it every time I stop to look at it.
Master Hawkins and I love jigsaws, half of the challenge is keeping our fur babies from eating the pieces.
I love working on puzzles...thanks fer the jigzone link!
I'm a huge fan of the jigsaw:) My favorite is a 3000 piece Garden Party, by Renior. It took months to do it! I moved to a new apt in the middle of the process and consequently I lost 1 piece. SOB! But all is well, I found the piece when I moved again:)
We used to have an awesome shop in Old Sac, but they are gone. There just aren't any good ones out there anymore. I wonder if internet shopping will turn up a few:)
