Since some of you are headed to Estes Park for the Longs Peak Scottish Highland festival, I think it would be awesome if we can all meet up there. If we can pick a central location like the Living History/Trebuche' area around a specific time. Toki and I are open and plan on being there at least Saturday and maybe both days. It's a quick shot for us at 35 miles up Big Thompason Canyon as we live in Loveland.
I hope we can cordinate a time and place so we can all gather so we can have a Mini Renaissance Invasion :)
Hope you all have a great week
So we've got two similar threads going ...
I'll be there! Probably NOT in barg, but at the very least I'll be wearing my tam and Columba plaid!
Well, I definitely plan on being there! I'll probably be handing out fliers for the Full Sails Buccaneer Bash, so I don't know whether I'll be dressed as a pirate (not Jack Sparrow), or in my once-SCA-garb of a 12th century Celt. We'll see.
ok what are the exact dates on this again?
The festival is Sept. 4-7 (Thursday through Sunday) but all the major events and such are on the weekend.
It really is worth the drive. And for those in and around Denver, it isn't that far of a day trip.
Perhaps I should clarify that the day I plan to be there is Saturday. How 'bout the rest of ye?
I'm Planning on being there all weekend. I'll see what I have available to be wearing. Hope to pick up a clan Gregor kilt this year.
Saturday for sure and possibly Sunday.
See Toki and I have it easy, this one is close to us as we live at the base or Gateway as we call it of the Big Thompson and Rocky Mountain National Park. :)
I'm not sure if I will wear my cheap Irish dress, or just go mundane, Toki will be mundane until he can afford his families tarton print and and that time I will be going Scottish to represent him instead of my Irish heritage.
I'll try my bestestest to make it, since I don't live all that far from Estes Park (Fort Collins), but I'll have to see how the money situation is and that whole silly college classes thing.
I don't have a cheap Irish dress- I have to envy yours...
Utilikilt!!
Anyway, I suggest we all meet on the lawn next to that thing by the tent like we were going to last year.

What THING by the tent on the lawn. There are so many tents and a Thing could be anyTHING, like say ME, or that piece of thing called trash, or some Englishman posing as a Scotsman, and since Toki and I had no Idea where you were all planning on meeting, you've got me SO confused :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'(
I suggest the Thing down by the lake that tosses things out into the thing with water :) since that Thing is esier to find... I think!

I'm pretty sure that was his intention. :D
They have water?
What festival did I go to last year?

Well it must not have been the Longs Peak Scottish Higland Festival as it has always been right next to Lake Estes and there is a tiny section on the south next to the faire grounds that also has part of the lake where they toss Bowling bowls from the TREBUCHET" Oh I forgot you always ave to yell that when a TREBUCHET fires off a round.
I think you must have been at the Scottish Terrier Highland games where the little Scotty dogs prance about in kilts and tiny bagpipes stapped to them. it is cute, but not as cute as say... a Man in a Kilt :) which there are plenty of them at the Highland games.
Oh and if you wish you can wear my Irish dress, I'll go mundane, or maybe if I could just find my old kilt I'd go as Wilma Wallace, that was Williams alter ego. :)
Demetrious should teach classes ... he doesn't need a faire to run amok!
I should be at the festival both days ...
Oh, thanks Blushing. :) Lady Delaney- I went to the Scottish Terrier games but had to leave because there were all these little dogs running around. Wilma Wallace, wasn't she on the Flintstones?
So- Maybe we could all meet by the large hamster?

Are they Killer Space Hamsters from Mar wearing a Kilt?
And at what time? Say Hamster on the wheel time?
Wilma Wallace? No that was Williams alter ego that not many knew about. And that is why Scots wear kilts to this day, in Honor of Wilma Wallace aka William Wallace.
I CANT WAIT for Hadrians Wall!!! I love those guys!!!
On which day is everyone going to be there. The Fam and I will be there on Sunday, perhaps saturday after Connery's football game.
Let us know.
Toki and I will be there Saturday for sure, maybe Sunday
Well that would be terrible to see you two . . . . ;)
Just kidding, it is always an honor and privilege to meet with you guys.
Unfortunately Connery's in Football this year, and their openeing game is saturday the 6th in the morning. Hence we will try to venture up on saturday, but sunday for sure.
Loves to you both from the fam.
P.S. Demitrius . . . is it an Emo hamster?
GEEE Thanks same at you :)
Where are your priorities man? Football? Children? Family? Anything doing with faire type things should always hold hire priorities :)
J/K I know all about those things, I had a son who played football when he lived in Colorado and another who did Hunter Safety. I had to do the transporting, go to games, take to tests, so I know how it is.
Enjoy the game and Don't get irate like some parents when bad calls are made. I saw to much of that and it ruins it for kids.
Emo Hamster? OHHHH That's a bad image
Yah, we are not the irate parents . . . but we also are not the "Kill them, murder the other team." types either.
Emo hamster is one that wishes they were a gerbil or a guinea pig, and you can always tell by the thick black markings around the eyes, and a long patch of fur that randomly covers only one eye.
Worry thee not- emo hamsters get free air-faire...

p.s. There is an awesome quote in mundane topics from Emo Philips.
Yay, am so looking forward to this, as I do every year. We'll be up there on Sunday!
I'm going to try to be there. Those of you going both days and driving a long ways, camping? Want a tentmate? *big, sad puppy eyes* (there should be a smiley for that)
Tickets are available at your local King Soopers. Yay! Found that out today while playing with the ticket machine at work.
Holy Crap!
I just checked the ticket prices and its 25 bucks a HEAD!!!

Only (Ha!) $22.50 at King Stoopids. Yeah, I was a bit shocked. I may only be going Saturday. Haven't decided about Sunday yet. Any one know if we can bring food in, or picnic at the parking lot and go back in?
You can leave and come back in if you get your hand stamp just like at CoRF, But they do not like you to carry in a cooler in, but we have seen peole with small backpacks. We ate a litemeal there then latter when back to our vehichle across from the faire and ate a nice sandwish and cheese and iced tea
And miss the haggis? I was so sad that I couldn't find any last year ... but I hear that there WILL be more food vendors this year ...
If you order tickets online (deadline is Tuesday, Sept. 2 I think) tickets are $20 for a single day, $45 for a three day pass.
Bah. Looks like I won't be going after all. Things... came up... grrr...
There is no way that I can do that and have the money to pay rent this month!
I am bummed that the damn tickets cost so much!
