Is there something you look forward to buying at Faire that you can't get anywhere else?
I personally love Seventh Sojourn natural soap at Scarborough.
Beer ::)
Incense and Hot Sauce
We always look for that piece of Celtic jewelry that we didn't know we were looking for. ;D
scented oils and soaps, leatherwork, jewelry.
faire Tshirts.
Gotta have something to wear when I'm not there!
Starfire swords...The hubby's favorite stop!
Oh, and dulbloons, and games, from Macgregor Games!
Mead, definately Mead!
drinking horns
new garb items & accessories
Seventh Sojourn soaps can be purchased over the web at soapmagic.com
*disclaimer, I am not a paid spokesperson for this product, however I am a committed user of their soaps and btw the owner Brian is a really great guy from my home state of Minnesota. Tell him Dayna sent you ;D
Lady McArthur's Phoenix Phyre and Raging Garden Relish (yes, they be ordered from her, but I prefer buying direct at faire).
Hoping for a pair of brown Sandlar boots in my size this year (they never seem to have brown).
I can't help but to go into Potomac Leather and drool over their Ranger stuff, and I wish I could justify getting a pair of Catskill Moccasins, but the ones I want are $850 :o and there is no chance of compromise on style for a lower priced pair.
I seem to gain a drinking horn, tankard or mug almost every year (sometimes more than one), and I am always looking at leather armor pieces, even though I don't need them, and always additional interesting items to hang from the belt.
Oh, and weaponry, always unique and inquisitive weaponry. ;)
Nothing specific, but I do so love shopping for all those neat little bits and baubles that go on ones belt! ::)
Definitely sauces & relishes from Lady McArthur's Fiery Fare (She'll be at TRF!) Online at www.thepepperlady.com
Celtic & Pirate Music CDs
WMD's - Weapon's of Mundane Destruction 8)

-Chainmaille jewelry from the guy at Scarby (AFAIK he still doesn't have a website)
-All the music CDs we pick up every year at various faires.
And, if I ever visit a faire again that has Grichel's as a vendor, I will buy a ton of stuff. I lurve my laptop case even though it freaks my DD out a bit.
So looking forward to seeing Grinchels wares for the first time in person....
But as far as every day shopping...... Feathers.... I just love feathers....
I'm such a dork....
BOOKS!
And, despite it not being nearly time to actually think about it yet, I'm getting all of my Christmas shopping done at Faire this year, save for my husband (I've got his stuff planned). This is more due to a conveniently timed bonus at work than actual "I want to do my Christmas shopping in September!"
I also really like getting candles and jewelry and incense.
Several of the fragrances, music and always increasing the wardrobe.
I always have to get a new pair of horns for my collection. The Devil made me do it....... ;)
Midsummer Knights Dream. I love to pet the fuzzy puppets. This year I had my heart set on a squirrel, only to find they are special order. But they did have one. I adopted it and off we went.
Otherwise the CDs and what ever peaks my interest.
Sometimes I look at clothes and think I can make that. So I get ideas too.
I look forward to finding new clothing and other pieces of garb. This year i'm looking for items and/or clothing for my wedding. I found my headpiece this year at the Des Moines Ren Faire :D.
I was pleased to discover that Majikah Perfumery has a booth at TRF as well as Scarby.
A new piece of frog jewlery from The B r a s s Dragon. ;D David is going to custom make me a crown to match the necklace I bought afew years ago. Can't wait!
Um, did somebody modify my post? Oh wait it won't let me type out b r a s s for some reason O.o Keeps changing it to weed puller :p
Scented oil from The Perfumed Dragon. Fav scent - Celtic Dawn.
Oil, gotta re-fill my potion bottle. Brawins Tears, to be exact (it's vanilla-cinnamon-ish).
An ear cuff or ear wrap
A quicksilverment necklace (if I'm at a fire where they are)
Woodchuck cider ;D
And a mug, of course!
I think the new thing will be something from Nigel Sade's booth. They have the coolest stuff, I'll probably get a new bandanna every year at least.
First I look at the garb, cant justify the expense. I have some beer and meade, go back and see the garb that I previouslly looked at and wanted.....Sold. It's funny how libations loosen ones tongue, pocketbook, and well..... ;)

I do that quite a lot; however, it usually turns out that I buy a pattern, fabric and supplies, get the thing half done and it doesn't fit right or something went terribly wrong. Needless to say, I've ended up buying a lot more garb than I've actually made :-\
Yeah, I cant sew at all, so garbing tends to get uhh pricey. However, I would rather buy it right the first time and be happy.
I hope I remember that next time I get big ideas to sew =)
At OHRF, I always buy that years medallion and the new dragon (it's red this year!). I admit it, I love the knick-knacks that have the faire name and year on them as a reminder and momento of the fun times there.
I've always been one who likes to browse online and then buy it in person.
Griffin Leather is becoming a favored shop as well as Legacy Forge.
Hair wraps, except I now know how to do them myself. ;) And it saves a lot of money at $20 a pop!
THE BEST GINGERBREAD COOKIES IN THE WORLD!!!!! at the bakery in Bristol. ;D
The Alfaro Drabbits made it to RPFS from Pennsylvania last year. Hope they'll be back in 2010.
See Theresa at The HornSmythe to have some additional scrimshaw on the monster horn.
Check Stu Ableman's Art Glass and Paul and Marnie Taylor's jewelry booth.
If Reva Meyers of Amber Moon is around, see what treasures she's brought.
Heidi B at Pale Moon usually has something new and interesting.
See what Jim Hrisoulas (Atar) at Salamander Armory has. Unfortunately, I've been picking up sharp pointies and whackers from him for so long, that it's a bit of a challenge to spot something. (I've told folks that the pattern welded rapier isn't in my will since I plan to take it with me when I'm planted.)
See what new craftspeople have booths and take a look.,
Even though we've been doing Faire for so long, there's usually something new that deserves a look.
--Shirts or chemises from Ophelia's
--Sugar cookies at Cup & Chaucer
--New CDs from favorite acts
...And there's usually one or two specific things each season, as well. We used to always, always buy oils from our favorite perfumer, but they've been absent the last two seasons :'( , and we've found a local mundane substitute (although hanging out at their shop and sniffing all the oils was one of our favorite things to do at fair).
I always look at the swords and hats, to see if there's anything I can afford (so far, no). And I buy accessories, like fans and snoods. I'm so bummed, though - I bought a great wooden folding fan at Lady MacSnood at the St Louis Ren Faire, and somehow in my move, it completely disappeared. And I need a spare fan in case mine ever breaks. The wood/cloth kinds are so hard to find!
Other than that, it's really about the kettle corn, candied almonds, and turkey legs for me. :)
MEAD, Loki... MEAD MEAD MEAD
...
Random bits n' pieces of stuff I find at faire that catch my eye.
Soaps & Incense
:D
On our first day of faire my first purchase is beer and pretzel. Then we walk around visiting all the shops making a list as to what we will buy the next day.
I always buy a one big item every year to have on display at home.
But these things are a given turkey leg, turkey nuggets, scented oil, incense, soaps, scented candles and things to add to our grab that we are not able to make oursevles.
Oh and of course beer and pretzel, beer and pretzel, beer and pretzel.
I always visit Round Two Costumes for tankards...Liz's parents go to England every year and pick some up to sell at her merchant booth, and her prices for gently used feastgear are the best I've seen. And Liz sews lovely garb, as well, and her husband Michael teaches the game of Farkle at their booth. You can find her at Ravenshire Ren Faire (Palisade, CO), Midsummer Faire (Cedar City, UT), and Colo. Medieval Festival (Ft. Collins, CO), to name a few.
This weekend will be our first visit to Sherwood Forest. I expect to have all kinds of new shopping opportunities.
