Title: Spanish Court Intrigue Movie
Post by: Katie Bookwench on August 28, 2008, 12:33:49 PM
For those that may be interested, a new movie about the innerworkings and backstabbings of the Court of Philip II of Spain is due out soon.

It looks to be an art house movie-- billed as a thriller. The trailer was dubbed in Spanish, though not all actors in this film speak it, so there is a chance it will be released in English when it comes over here.

Official Site is here: http://www.laconjuradeelescorial.com/

There should be an ENGLISH option on the home page so you can read the synopsis and look at the pictures.

The garb is really nice.  ;D

Looks like a very interesting movie.  It does appear that it will be in english as well.  ...Hopefully!

Just noticed several actors that I am familiar with in it.  The guy who plays Lucious Malfoy in Harry Potter is playing the part of Antonio Perez.

Indeed!

That's really the only reason I found out about it.

He is deliciously adept at playing the bad guy, so I'm expecting Perez to be a rogue and a half.  ;D

I was just reading up on the historical Antonio Perez and definately seems to be the "bad buy" type.  Depends on one's view though.  Could easily be skewed one way or the other.  It should be interesting to see how they portray him in the movie.
