The Central Coast Renaissance Faire
One Weekend - July 19 & 20 - 2008
http://www.hisrev.org/
This is my home faire... if anyone is coming to this let me know. It will be warm... but the area is close to the beach so you can go cool off! :)
Ohhh.. I think I am gonna have to find a way to come up to this fair. I love the SLO area.... :)
St. Barbara's & St. Genesius (http://www.danceanddestruction.org) from the San Jose area will be coming down. Just look for our trebuchet.
This is the weekend that we rented a house in Morro Bay for vacation. That Saturday is the day before we leave to go home.
How cool is that? :D
This will be my first fair in grab. Hope to meet some of you from this form.
Finally back on this website and looks like Hounds Haven will be there again. SLO faire is great!!
;)
Hi does anyone the weapon's policy for this faire? I check there website, knowing on it about weapon's being carried by costumed play tons. ???
I have noticed most faire's it is weapons like swords and such are okay, but they must be sheathed and peace-tied. Generally, firearms are a no-no. I'm not 100% sure for this faire, though.

I've been to SLO fiare many times and you are correct peace-tied blades.
What CA faires don't allow weapons?
Thanks for the replies. This is my first faire in grab.

Very cool! Are you going with a group/guild or as a customer?
As a customer this time, but I'm looking for a group in the area.

There are a few guilds in the area actually. The Peasant Guild is the one that puts on, and works, the SLO faire itself (http://www.thepeasantguild.com/). I'm in Hounds Haven, which is a tavern scene (http://hounds.punk.net/). There are also a few Scottish guilds in the area, though I can't recall the names of the top of my head. When you walk around faire you'll see many encampments; you can simply approach one and talk to them to figure out if you are interested in joining.
Only 5 days left till faire opens!
:)Yea, Setup was great. I was out there on sunday to help build stages, booths & paint. will be out there on wed to help with hay bales. ;D
Cool! Are you with Peasants Guild? I think we are building our encampment on Friday.
No we are helping out History Revisted people. We will senting up our camp on friday also hope to see you then. :D
I'll be there on Saturday. I'm excited, my first faire in good garb. Blue skirt, yellow overskirt, blue and gold sari silk bodice, and a chemise-type blouse.
The only other faire I have been to is the NorCal Pirate Fest. My top didn't fit right. The stuff I made for this fits really well.

Very cool! Are you coming with anyone else? If you are interested in becoming more involved in faire, stop by a guild and inquire about joining. Have a good time!
My mom is coming too, my dad might be coming, I'm not sure. They won't be in garb, though. They are boring.
We're just here for the week, we rented a house.
Sounds like fun for the whole family :) Well, leaving tomorrow morning for the long drive. See ya there!
Contrary to last year (set up just before the lancing arena), we were placed near the entrance to the faire. Apparently the organizers forgot we had a trebuchet, so no room to fire this year. Oh well. There was nice weather and good patronage.
Ah well met Wildabeast, we we're right next ot you (Hounds Haven) and you did draw a good crowd with your device. I actually had a conversation with a few guild members about how poorly they placed you guys; we wanted a demo, perhaps with water balloons. :)

DOH! So close, yet not close enough. We enjoyed being next to you guys and those on the other "border". Hopefully next year, we'll be back to swinging our arm.
Are you guys going to Golden Gate faire?
I just posted 156 pictures from last weekend and placed the link here (http://www.renaissancefestival.com/forums/index.php?board=6.0).
...and Valiss, there's probably one very young squire you'll recognize in some of them.
While you're at it, you can see the 233 I posted yesterday from the Sonora Celtic Faire (formerly in Angels Camp) back in March.
Oh, great pictures! My parents had the camera, and only took pictures of the joust. >.< And it wasn't even the digital. "Oh, we don't need to bring the digital."
Very nice pictures! Thank you very much for posting these; I have forwarded the link to my other guild members.
:)
OH! Great Photos! I just got back on line after a much needed break... I hope everyone had a great time at SLO
