I have only just gotten in from this year's invasion and am already planning this one for next year. Count in the Count.
Next year's event, however, I am hoping to have a goodly entourage of folks along... including my daughter and son of course... but my ultimate goal is for my Countess to be there as well!
I'm already looking into the logistics involved with the trip and will be honoured to do as much as one man can to make next year's Rendezvous the best yet...

I'll be flying in from Arizona and will be there all three days, along with my brother, who lives in Hagerstown. Tentatively, one or both of my sisters from Texas and my daughter and her husband from Arizona. (None of them are members of RF.com, they just like going to faires!) Not sure yet if I can make the Friday night gathering.
I am sooooo looking forward to this!!

As for that boat ride, you'll have to find one to ride on - with all those new baggage charges, it might be a little difficult to sneak a 29' Fountain onto the plane! Just proves that she is wise as well as beautiful. I feel like a kid a couple days after Christmas. A year is such a long time to wait.
As of right now it looks like I will be attending, plus 2 or 3(My best friend, a friend, and possibly her husband as well). Not sure what all days, as it will be depend on the friend's house I will be staying at. Was planning on visiting her next year and she wanted to take me up there, and we figured once we found out the Rendevous is here that year might as well do it all at once!

I can almost guarantee that my girl Arianwyn and myself will be attending. Will definitely be the Sat and Sun....possibly the Mon as well....will have to see if we can come down with a mild case of SARS and avoid work 1 more day. I attended my first Faire in costume in Ohio this past weekend and absolutely fell in love with it. Looking forward to attending soooo many more. Can anyone tell me if I am able to do fire eating during any of the tailgating? Part of my character as Master Rayven is the fire eating and would love to perform.

Trying to figure out whether or not I will be able to make it. Major dilemma is that that same weekend, there is this family/parents weekend for my brother at at the Air Force Academy, and it's his Senior Year. If he wants me there, I will be. If he doesn't feel like it's a big deal because its nothing compared to graduation, then I'll start putting money away. So...everything is up in the air. I really really want you to put my name on that list with a "I'm so gonna be there!" but I dunno yet. ???

Family comes first....BUT, if you can get the USAFA to change their Parents' Day to the Naval Academy, why, you'd be right here...oh, wait, guess thats probably not going to happen... 8)

I dont think it wise to do anything with fire even if it is in the parking lot for several reasons as the festival frowns heavily on non paid performers performing, fire laws and their enforcements by the local fire marshal have been an issue in the past, and other concerns...
There is all that, plus the fact that several of the participants at tailgate are generally highly flammable! :o There may also probably be several small children running around. Cool thought, but probably not a great idea.

Well, this could be a dream come true.
When my wife and I saw that Rendevous 2009 fell on the same weekend as our 29th anniversary, we thought, "Gee, that'd be nice."
We didn't get our hopes up, however, because even with a year of planning and saving, our plans for a trip to the Texas Renfest for our 25th anniversary fell through.
But just yesterday we received a gift that will allow us to attend Rendevous 2009 -- so I guess this is a long roundabout way of saying, please put us on the list, and we're looking forward to this!

Regretably :(, I will not be able to attend this year as planned. However, I plan to be working at NYRF, if any one would like to stop by and say hello, I'll let you know whitch booth when I find out. If all goes well, I will be able to return to MDRF next year.
I will not be able to be the games coordinator. I was asked to be a bridesmaid and part of the festivities are that weekend. I will be able to come for some of the time though. But I will still be able to make the name tags. I will make sure they get to you in time for the beginning of the weekend.

As much as I had hoped and prayed, I will have to take a bow and accept that this lass shall not be joining the rest gathering in Revel Grove come September. I will be just shy of two months in my first apartment and right at the start of school, money will inevitably be tight and that same weekend is Parents Weekend for my brother at the Air Force Academy so I am called there first.

Sadly, I will not be able to attend, after all. This afternoon I was informed that I will be losing my premium pay as of July 13th, which translates into a 10% pay cut. (I do get to keep doing the work, though. :-\ )
I can't complain about the pay cut as there are folks who are worse off than I am. I do, however, reserve the right to pout tonight because I'll be missing Rendevous 2009! :'(

Ahh yes Castlebay ... been there many times ... I love the place!
The huge problem with the waterfront there is parking. Yes, they have the garage but on a Friday night of a long weekend, it maybe full early. Not to mention unless you are familiar with Annapolis even the garage can be hard to find - that Church circle confuses me even to this day.
I do love the water front location though ... several very nice pubs down there.
You can park all day for 5 bucks at the Navy/Marine corp stadium and take the shuttle (runs every 15 minutes).
Might not be the MOST convenient, but would keep people from having to drive into downtown Annapolis as well as find parking. Like you said..there are several excellent pubs very close. :-)

What to bring, what to wear, where to stay, what to do first, what to buy....so excited....we are leaving Canada on the Thursday and staying over in Williamsport, Pennsylvania then on to Maryland on Friday with lots of time to get to the dinner.
We're making a mini-vacation out of this and the best part will be Faire, seeing friends and meeting new ones......

The hug question made me laugh. Returning from GLMF I had the occasion to be at the doctors for a minor shoulder problem. Turning over my arms she gasped "how did you get all those bruises?" I was, you understand, covered in bruises from my wrists to my forearms - "would you believe me if I told you it was a sword accident" I replied?
Truthfully, I had a really nasty one from hugging someone and getting hit by their claymore, four fingerprints from an enthusiastic "Oh god you have to see this" - and the inevitable mug bruises from Ewan..... that being said - I am definitely up for more hugs and bruises!

We're leaving tomorrow for KOA in our converted firetruck. Question: will they let us park a medium-sized truck in the parking lot at faire? And if not, can we hitch a ride with anyone who's staying at KOA? (2 adults and 2 young kids...)
I have a Ford f250 long bed (well it was Romn's truck) and I have never had a problem. Also, what they have do is park buses, campers and/or RV's along the entrance fence so you might be asked to park in that area instead of the general parking. Bad thing is you might have to walk a bit, good thing you will be close to the exit to the parking lot.

Got the camper all packed up and the car too! 3 sets of garb, food, and other essentials. In about 3 hours I'm leaving work, heading home and hooking up the camper and heading to the KOA. Hope to be there around 4 or so then its off to the meet and greet! I'm so excited! I just can't hide it. I'm about to lose control and I think I like it! OK maybe I shouldn't have gone there but I can't wait to get this whole thing started! Its going to be a blast!

It was so very nice to meet so many of you in person. Thank you all for the warm welcome. Since I often arrive at Faires by myself I've learned that I will never be alone at Faire because there are wonderful people like you all to share the experience. In a few words: I had a blast!!

Well, we *had* lots of pictures, but we lost our Nikon DSLR camera in the parking lot Sunday afternoon, and whomever found it was not honest enough to turn it in, so we won't be posting any :(
Had a wonderful time though! Met so many nice and interesting people! We are absolutely exhausted...
Too bad all the good times had to end with such a disheartening event :(

What Lady Glorianna said. If somebody found it that night, they probably wouldn't turn it in until Monday morning at the very earliest, and I've found items that I kept forgetting to bring in with me for a week or two. I'm going to be checking the lost and found regularly for my R/F pin that I lost on Saturday, so I can let you know if anything turns up.
Even though I was only able to make Saturday due to unfortunate family issues, it was a pleasure meeting everyone. Hopefully we will get to spend more time together during Rendezvous 2010.

I had a WONDERFUL time at the faire this weekend! Thank you so much to those who helped put it together, it was much, much appreciated. I was so happy to meet new friends and spend time at your gorgeous faire. It is a weekend that will stay with me for a long time to come.

I just want to thank everyone for a wonderful weekend. Both Arianwyn and myself had a great time. I know she expressed her thanks, I just wanted to send mine out. I only saw it for the first time a few years ago when a similar group of wenches did the same to the Rogues on the predecessor to the BlackFriar stage. One of the CD wenches complained that they ALWAYS get bananas and pickles, and didn't somebody have anything different for once? That's when Nelson spotted the inflating and deflating pickle, and the audience lost it.

We got up earlier to set up for MDRF tailgate than we do for our Baltimore Ravens tailgates but it was well worth it.

What a way to experience a new (to me) faire for the first time! It is definately a beautiful and magical place. I am looking forward to returning in the future.
Thank you to all who made this possible! You are now in the very unique place of having planned and executed (in the very best possible way, of course) a RenDevous.
In my case, it was almost a "ZenDevous," with the travel difficulties presented me on Friday, but nonetheless, I was there and it made the time with all of you even sweeter, with the potential for it not having occurred at all. Meeting so many of you that I'd known through the forums here, some for years, was particularly lovely. And of course, the reunion of those that I've come to enjoy the company of from TN or parts hither and yon was most enjoyable. I'm not even going to name names, you know who you are.
The biggest surprise for me was being made an honorary M'Crack. An incredibly sweet thing to do, whoever cooked that one up. I'm flattered and honored. And now also known as "Nickel'n."
The tailgates were awesome! On Saturday we made our own parade with the RF.com banner from the entryway all the way to the White Hart, Sunday we were treated to a bubble-fest provided by our own Bubblewright and his fantastic bubble machine. Monday, we slept in but came in time to send Scotsman off to pick up his son, returning from Afghanistan...They came back a few hours later, a true testament to what a wonderful Faire this is that this young man wanted this to be the first place to visit once he got back home.
There really is so much more. Again my sincere thanks to those who put this together for all of us and made us all feel so welcome!

Crazy time. Glad to see some of you at the tailgate- what a turnout. Sorry I didn't catch many of you inside- I had my kids in tow and for some reason they didn't want to hang out in the taverns (where I most often saw faces I recognized- esp. the M'Cracks...).
