Title: accounting for breasts
Post by: Dev on September 05, 2008, 11:07:24 PM
I've become pretty good at making simple tunics, but the problem I have is how to make one that will accommodate certain female anatomy.

Because the top of mine won't be visible, I can get away with splitting it down the middle to about the middle of my (fairly flat) bustline, but I would like advice on how to do this for future reference.

Simple answer?  You don't.

The link goes to one of the many extant 14th c tunics.   You simply cut for the waist, not the bust.

Putting a gusset in the underarm seam may give you a bit more room in the bust area.  You might also try putting an inverted-triangle shaped gore in the side seam, with the wider part under your arm and the narrow part at your waist.
