Title: Store Talk
Post by: kilted one on September 07, 2008, 08:52:32 PM
This is somewhat off topic, but I have talked to so many during the first few weeks of the festival that are excited about this and want to expand this so everyone knows.  I am the owner of The Vault Comics and Games located behind Westmoreland Mall.  We are bringing back the lost art of non computer games to Greensburg.  We carry board games (European types, no Sorry or Candy Land), Warhammer, Warhammer 40K, Magic the Gathering and many other games.  The store has room to bring stuff in to play and we also host All Night Gaming the first Saturday of each month.  Starts at 10am goes until ?.  I do so hope that everyone gets a chance to stop buy and visit, pick up a game, read a comic, or at least try a new game that may become a new favorite.  Thanks to everyone that has made this one time patron who felt like the cousins that show up for holidays at the festival feel like he can actually move to the Grown Up table with the family!!

I couldn't have said it any better myself...that's the way they've made me feel too  :)

I'll be sure to get down and check out the store sometime soon.

I think we all know that feeling.  Just remember, you can't pick your birth family but we picked you all to be part of our ren family and in many ways you are even closer.

Now, get out of here you knuckle heads.

[gush] KO, you and Lady A are absolutely part of the family.  We've all been in the position of being the "new kids" at the faire, and we've all been welcomed warmly by the existing cast.  Each new performer only enhances all of us and makes us better. [/gush]

So, back to the store.  Is it possible to have a game night on another date, so we can hold a special Rennie Game Night?  I'd love to play Shadows Over Camelot or Pirates Cove with others in our Rennie family.  That could be a helluva night.

I would be happy to do that.  Probably Saturdays would be the best day for people who are off on the weekends and also as well for time available to play.  Of course it would have to be after the festival.  I think that would be a wonderful idea Professor.  I, too, look forward to playing Pirate's Cove as well.

...So, for people who have no clue how to get around with out mapquest, what is the address of your store...  I think I might stop down before going out to Pittsburgh tonight

I don't know if mapquest would give it a proper location.  The easiest way to find it is to look for or travel to Westmoreland Mall in Greensburg.  We are located in the annex directly behind the mall.  It is about 3 doors down from Buffalo Wild Wings.  Also, if you play Magic the Gathering, bring some cards with you as we will be playing tonight.

Well, we do have all night gaming coming up this weekend.  I was thinking that some people are trying to get to some local faires yet before they close so I may set one up for November some time.  Does this sound good?

Also, I have three Zombies!! expansions coming in this week.

I must acknowledge my ignorance of the games of which you speak, but if my ren-family is going to gather, it would be worth the drive just to come down and watch sometime.  :)

There will be no watching.  We have enough games that you will be able to learn them and possibly find a new favorite game!!

Ha!  I was going to post the same thing.  Anne, you wanna watch, you gotta play.

I just looked at the site for Zombies! and I see they have several scenarios and variations for team play.  I'd love to give 'em a try.

The other games we talked about were created by a great company called "Days of Wonder."

I just checked out the link to the Days Of Wonder games.  Shadows Over Camelot looks promising, as do Mystery At The Abbey and Pirate's Cove.

I have not played Pirate's Cove, so don't know.  Mystery at the Abbey I have heard good things about.  Shadows Over Camelot, simply one of my favorite games.  So good it even gets the In-Law Approved stamp (In-Laws don't regularly play games but actually play and enjoy the games that get this stamp).

I am the IN-Law certifier.  I am not a fan of very long complex games and neither is my family (Kilted One's in-laws.)  Games that get the In-Law approved stamp are carefully chosen for ease of learning and usually under 1 hour to play (Sometimes the games last longer depending on the level of sleep deprivation due to All-Night Gaming).

By the way my future brother-in-law who REALLY NEVER EVER plays games loved  "Shadows Over Camelot" .  Does that make Shadows an in-law in-law approved game?! ???

In-law and outlaw approved!

I love "Shadows" too.  I'm looking forward to being able to play the expansion.

I'd be soo up for it... what edition did you play... because the 4th edition just came out this summer... I've also played 2nd, and 3/3.5... I like playing 3/3.5 the best... 2nd is kinda comfusing and 4th is too simple (and theres not much out for it yet)...
