So, I'm going to my first faire this month, and I went today to pick up my garb from the costume shop for the Genesius Guild, a local group I perform Shakespeare with. I don't have a good belt yet, and I don't have my belt pouch finished, but this gives the general idea. I'll post pics of the rest of the family as their garb is completed, as well as more as more pieces of mine get added.
Photos don't really do the shirt justice - it has some really nice embroidery.

Well done- much better than many first time Garbings that I have seen. As you go about going to Faire, you have the chance to explore who your character is, and what direction you garb will go. For most, characters and therefore garb, is a constantly evolving entity.
Have fun with it!!
Looks pretty good! Once you have your accessories, it wil be great.
Hey Dustin!
I remember you from chat a week or two back. Your outfit looks great. I hope you have a great time as I'm sure you most certainly will!
Enjoy yourself friend.
Well, for accessories, I already have a mug strap I made (as well as the tankard to hang on it), a leather pouch being sewn by my wife (I designed it, but I'm stupid with needles), and a cloth drawstring pouch that's going to get a leather belt strap attached to it. I just need the belt to wear it all on!
Here are some closer detail shots of the shirt:

Also, pictures of my hat are in the hat thread.
Wow, that's some really nice work on the shirt. Your garb looks great, have fun at the faire!
Nice look. Ah it's a whole new world of faire in garb! Have fun!
Completly unrelated, but I have to ask. What did you win your medal in that is hanging upon the wall?

Well, "win" is probably more generous than I deserve, but those medals were given to all the participants and volunteers at the 30th annual Bix 7 (http://www.bix7.com) road race. I think that was the year that I worked security for the race. Now, I'm on the prize money verification committee. We are the backup to the timing chip. We have people at various points along the route, and we have to verify that everyone who finishes in the top ten (top 10 men and top 10 women) really did run the entire race. Otherwise, they don't get prize money.
We finished the belt pouch! My wife sewed the belt loops onto the back because my hands were too big to do it, but I did the side stitching (just a simple whip stitch), and the design is mine. It's cut and sewn from one single piece of leather that was in a bag of Tandy scrap leather I bought at Hobby Lobby for three bucks. The concho we already had, and the string is a boot lace that was lying around the house.

I think I did pretty good for a first attempt.
I like it! awesome work!
Nice garb, and nice pouch you got there! I LOVE being able to make garb and accessories for practically nothing! Shows lots of of creativity. Have a fabulous time at your first faire!
Well, here's the finished product as of day one (by day two I had added a new belt pouch and eating dagger to mine).

And just the kids...

You guys look great, Dustin! Your kids are adorable, by the way. I hope you all had an awesome time!
Huzzah Dustin!!!
Going to Faire in more simpler garb the first time gives a playtron more of a sense of involvement in the surroundings that is a festival. They are participants at the festival thas observers.
Over time, additions to the garb will come from observing others in how they are dressed, giving the playtron ideas as to fully rounding out their character, station, occupation, etc. Th epossibilities are endless.
Have a marvelous time.
Woo hoo! It's exciting, isn't it? :) :) My husband and I are in our first playtron season as well. :) Congrats, and have fun!!
Although the children weren't there, we got to meet Dustin and Cheri at Stronghold on Sunday, and both looked smashing in their garb! They did a great job.
