Title: The New Kid's General Questions
Post by: JackGonzo, MD on September 08, 2008, 01:59:04 AM
Since this is something new to me since Maryland doesn't have it, is a question about the camping. It says camping is open at 10am on Friday. Now does one, if they want a good camping spot, need to be there at some point on Friday or can they get away with getting there at 6am Saturday morning?

On tickets, are there season passes? They're not listed but figured it was worth a shot asking.

There were more, but it's 2am and I'm sure I'll think of them later.

Of course you're welcome to hook up with McLotofus and we'll save ya a spot!
(handy being part of a group lol)

The time for buying season passes has passed (i believe) but it wasn't a super deal anyways so no big loss. I do recommend checking in with Dragonspyre and seeing if you can buy in with the group tickets, better rate there.

*Bringing gifts of rum to Teach is also a TRF camping custom... in case you didn't know*

It also depends on what weekend that you go.  If you go on one of the more popular weekends the campgrounds fill up faster.  It also depends on if you want to be in the middle of all the parting or not.  If you would like to actually get some sleep at some point then I would suggest camping a little further out.  Those areas do not fill up as fast.

Most clans have their reps waiting at the gate Thursdays for the traditional "claimed" areas for roping/taping, as Teach stated. It's a tradition with groups, so they don't have to search around for each other. It would be utter chaos looking for friends and other clans.

Otherwise, I've never had trouble finding room on Fridays or Saturdays. As is said, the grounds are MASSIVE!!

Teach, I've got a bottle waiting for you when TRF gets fired up!

Dan

Yeah Potter's, that's right......lol

If you like to camp and enjoy the wild side of faire, you'll love camping at TRF. Don't know if you have kids, certain sections of camping can be really wild all the way to the really mild in family section.

Oh the only kids we have is a demon cat and the world's best behaved seven month old puppy. The puppy, I just learned, gets bat shiner bock excited when I start whistling Star Trek music. No idea as to why, but she LOVES the STTMP score.

Can't wait to meet all the clans. Luckily the wife's parents live about five minutes driving time away in Magnolia so there's always a fall back option. No worry about noise, I've been known to sleep through...well pretty much everything.

The really scary part is that I know some people here at my office that buy their perfume for the same price.

Its getting to the point that I'd almost try it.  They call GM's flex fuel engine for a reason I'm sure.
Title: Re: The New Kid's General Questions
Post by: MacLaren on September 08, 2008, 09:31:20 PM
The thing is that the flex fuel vehicles get cruddier mileage at roughly the same cost, if not more.

I have a 6 Liter V8 truck, and being a truck driver, I've heard complaints from other drivers that the flex fuel vehicles get far less mileage than straight gas. The "hybrids" are a bit different, being partially battery operated. Also, GM and a few others have rolled out the "power on demand" tech, running on just a few cylinders until you hit the throttle.

Hey, Teach, you like that coconut rum? Ahhgh, ghastly! I'll bring you that bottle of real rum, and coconuts will leave your mind. Well, if what I hear is true, you'll think a coconut hit you in the back of the head!:)

Laddie... I live for good rum
Coconut rums are my favorite for a variety of reasons.
They are probably my favorite for most every mixed rum drink I make and if I dont want to mix... they are just drinkable as is lol
Pretty much any flavored rum works for me unless they are to the point that I can't taste the rum any more... then it kills the point lol

*and it would take a helluva rum to knock me like a coconut... 151 is also high on my favs list lol*

Ah no worries there, as a former Army man who spent two years in Germany at which time you could have cut me and I probably would have bled black from the amount of Ireland's finest I was drinking, drinking is not a problem. Hell, I didn't get this curvaceous body from red meat alone.

Thomas, no promises, lord knows there's already plenty of stories out there about me. It will be a blast remembering all those when I run for public office
