Title: Looking for specific garb
Post by: aidenoffairfax on September 10, 2008, 01:16:30 PM
Ok, so this might be a little off topic, but I wanted to find out if anyone knows of a good vendor I can buy 1800's garb from? Since all my garb is from the 1500s, I haven't got a clue where to start looking for other time periods. Suggestions?

Thanks,

Joe B

I've been very pleased with everything I've bought from Jas. Townsend (http://jas-townsend.com/index.php).

ETA:
Whoops--sorry!  Wrong century!  :-\  I saw "1800s" and thought "Eighteenth Century."  Clearly I should stop posting before I've eaten breakfast! LOL

My ABSLOUTE Favorite if your looking for Civil War or Victorian for women is www.ckhall.com (http://www.ckhall.com). Of course www.recollections.com (http://www.recollections.com) is nice but not H/A here is another http://www.corinthias.net/corinthias_main.htm (http://www.corinthias.net/corinthias_main.htm)

But then again your looking for male. So it really depends on what you are looking for then. I'd do a search for SASS (Single Action Shooter Society) They are an old west reenactment group.

Some links for other mens 1800 era clothing http://www.gentlemansemporium.com/index.php (http://www.gentlemansemporium.com/index.php)

Here is a link with many links http://www.lhsmn.org/links/sutlers.html (http://www.lhsmn.org/links/sutlers.html)

For the Civil War period, I love http://www.abrahamslady.com/

Are you looking for a specific period or just any point in the 1800's in general?
