Title: Help requested
Post by: Aosto on September 12, 2008, 02:40:40 PM
Okay, At the Shakopee festival I purshased a black cloak and thats about the only festival garb I have. I want to build a costume around that and am looking for ideas. I'm looking for something scholorly, mystic type as I am a practicing neo-druid. Just looking for some ideas or places to start to build my garb

I'm no expert, but some kind of robes and a nice wooden staff could go toward the druid look.
Now is a good time to get patterns because the stores are all stocked up for Halloween.  Simplicity has a pattern that includes Elven robes, a knights tunic and an Elven archer type outfit.  The Elven robe made out of linen or muslin instead of the shiny satin might be the look you are trying for.

Since you are going for the fantastical look, the Elven patterns based on LOTR would work pretty well.   A basic pair of pants and a simple white tunic top might also work.

How about a nice long white robe with bands of fancy braid round the neck, sleeves, and hem?  Something adapted from one of these, perhaps...
